PTI Day 1 April Reveals

Hello crafty friends! It's that time again where we start four days of reveals for the monthly release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Feathered Friends Mini 22 stamp set and dies + Elegant Edges: Leaves + Inside Greetings: Everyday stamp set + Go-To Gift Card Holder: Book stamps & Scrolls stamps, Book, Book Pockets, Book Box, Bookmark and Book Scrolls dies.

Bird parts were all stamped with dye inks and we are getting the rear view of this feathered friend. I couldn't help myself and had to ask "Does this branch make my butt look big?" 😂😂😂

Next up we are switching gears to a variety of stamps and dies that have loads of possibilities for gifting teachers as well as book lovers! There are several curved sentiments that fit well with the Banner Builders: Basics die set.

I love the sweet bookmark die shape and plan to tuck it into the gift card "book" for some deserving teacher.

The little pocket dies can be filled with money, a gift card or a lovely handwritten note. The diamond-shaped sentiment is a new mini stencil that will also be available in the release.

Color Throwdown #689

 

Hello crafty friends! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge! Vickie is hosting this week and has chosen pink, orange and green...perfect for some spring time creations! I pulled a set from The Greetery which has a combination of stamps and stencils to create a beautiful floral background.

I need to replenish my birthday card stash, so it was a no brainer as to what sentiment I wanted to use.

Fusion Card Challenge

Hello everyone! We are already halfway through April so spring is hopping right along! The new Fusion Card challenge has a great inspiration photo as well as a great sketch so, I went with both. I love tulips and I discovered my daughter has a green thumb and loves them as well!

I knew right away I wanted to play with the Totally Tulips stamp/die set released Papertrey Ink in March. I decided to tuck them into a galvanized bucket which was part of the Vase Collection released in February if I remember correctly. 

To add some texture to the background, I used PTI's dotted stencil with some Liquitex light modeling paste. I also added Crystal Stickles to the tulip outlines for some sparkle and shine. I used some new 6x6" patterned paper called Flower Market from Lawn Fawn. It has the prettiest tiny florals and stripes in soft spring colors!

Color Throwdown #688

Happy hump day everyone! Today there is a new Color Throwdown challenge happening. Lynn is hosting and has chosen pink, sage green, lavender and blue. Great spring colors and perfect to use the tulip dies from Papertrey Ink!

 

For the background, I started by color blending distress inks onto Bristol Smooth Surface paper (Milled Lavender, Spun Sugar, Bundled Sage, Broken China). Then I layered the white decorative circles cover plate over the blended colors. 

Tulips and leaves were all die cut from Bristol Smooth paper then colored with above distress inks and highlighted with Kitsch Flamingo, Dusty Concord, Rustic Wilderness distress inks and Lemon Tart dye ink. The stamen was colored with Honey Nut dye ink. The sentiment tag was stamped with Blueberry Sky.

A favorite local landmark in the neighboring town of Staunton, VA is this sculpture of a watering can. It's especially pretty with the tulips blooming in the spring!

Color Throwdown #687

Good morning crafty friends! Ever have a week fly by and then you realize you had not created a card for a deadline due that day? That was me this morning. The new Color Throwdown challenge is being hosted by Lori this week and she has chosen lime green, aqua and gold. Some of my favorites! I whipped up this card using a couple of "salad spinner background" pieces in my leftover pile. I gold embossed the butterfly and sentiment to create a quick sympathy card.

Birthday Candles

Good Friday crafty friends! Another cold and terribly windy day here in VA which led me to my craft room instead of running errands! Who needs groceries anyway?! 😂

I fell in love with these layered candle stencils from Pretty Pink Posh after being enabled by a Jennifer McGuire video you can see HERE. I also ordered the fun cake die from PPP which coordinates so well with the background! Birthday cards are probably the category I create for the most and I am always looking for unique and relatively easy to use products.

I color blended the candles in a diagonal rainbow pattern of colors using all distress inks. I added a touch of orange with a Copic marker to the base of the flames then covered the entire flame with Crystal Stickles for some sparkle and shine. I love the Mashup Birthday sentiment set from Papertrey Ink so mixed that into the design - popping it with foam tape for added dimension. This completes another birthday card for the long list of friends and family I know that were born in April!

You're My Type!

 

Oh my...what was I waiting for?! I've had this set from SugarPea Designs for a couple of months and never even opened the package. Weather is gradually warming but ever so windy so I'm staying inside nursing cold symptoms and decided to play. This typewriter is so adorable and I decided to go with a mini slimline design using dies from Gina K Designs' Master Layout 08. 

I have tons of birthdays with friends and family in April so this card will cover one of many. Aqua and red are always a fun combo for me and could go with either gender. 

 I couldn't stop with just one card, so decided to join in the Seize the Birthday challenge where we are challenged to "stripe it up".

 

While everything was out on my desk from the first card, I quickly made a second card with identical typewriter colors but different layout. 

 

I used the Mini Slimline Essential Bundle from Pinkfresh Studio on this one along with strips from Gina K Designs Master Layouts 08 die set. I really prefer mini slimline above regular slimline cards.
