What's Cookin'?

 

Happy hump day! We have a new Color Throwdown challenge happening with aqua, red and white! That combo screamed vintage to me so out came my Taylored Expressions You Bake Me Happy and What's Cookin' stamps and dies. The background is an A2 sized stamp by The Greetery. I used Peacock Feathers distress ink (lightly spritzing the stamp with water before adhering to the paper). That gave a more mottled look to the color.

Fresh & Fruity

Good Tuesday everyone! I finished a quick and easy CAS design for the new Paper Players challenge to get fresh and fruity with a CAS design. I love the two-step lemon stencils from Taylored Expressions that pair up well with the punny sentiments!  The sweet ric rac frame adds a touch of texture with the stitching detail.

TE Maker Challenge

This is the first time I'm playing along with the monthly Taylored Expressions Maker Challenge. This month's theme is to create a gift card holder, so I thought it would be fun to use the retro stamps/dies from TE for a fun birthday greeting! I started by die cutting the GC pocket using a book pocket die from Papertrey Ink. Red and aqua always make a good retro color combo IMO.

You're the Zest!

It's been awhile since I used this fun lemon stamp/stencil/die set from Taylored Expressions. It was perfect for the sketch by Linda at Freshly Made Sketches and I used the first vertical column (stripes, birthday, twine) for the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players . Technically, it doesn't mention birthday on the front, but the inside has handwritten thoughts that celebrate the birthday girl!

Freshly Made Sketches #635

Remember the days of Pyrex dishes in every kitchen? Guess I'm dating myself but they seem to be making a comeback for collectors of vintage kitchen items! I recently bought these stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions and thought they'd be fun for a variety of occasions. I'm using the sketch for the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge and will add this to my birthday stash.

Aqua screams vintage and gingham is also a country, cottage pattern I associate with retro scenes.

Just Us Girls

 

 Good Monday everyone! I had some extra potted plants stamped from a previous project and decided they would fit well with the new Just Us Girls challenge. This time it's word week - BEE - and it also gave me opportunity to stencil with the honeycomb stencil that was part of the July Surprise Box at Papertrey Ink! Of course, I had to add a few bees as well.

I color blended the honeycomb using Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber distress inks. Inks for the potted plants were dye inks by Pinkfresh Studio. I love how they put gradient colors together to make it so easy to choose inks. Also, they are coming out with new colors in September and I can hardly wait!

Seize the Birthday

 

The "topping" for the current Seize the Birthday challenge is to create a shaped card. I went with the A2 nested pendant etched dies from Photoplay Paper. Not sure why I don't do shaped cards more often because they really are a fun option to try! I decided to use the punny Taylored Expression stamp/die/stencil set called Love Grows Here.

Create A Smile

I'm playing along with a new (to me) challenge called We Dare You to Create a Smile. I love using yellows and blues together - especially for summertime cards! I was also inspired by the greenery on the mood board to use these fun plant images from the recently released Love Grows Here kit by Taylored Expressions.

The sentiment makes me smile even though it might not be 100% correct - haha!
