Loved the July Color Challenge over on the Reverse Confetti blog and knew right away I wanted to pair it with Chupa's fun layout for her Sketchbook Saturday Challenge!  This is pretty self-explanatory, so I'll just get right to the supply list...

Watercolor Birthday

Fun card to create using an acrylic block as a "stamp" with distress ink colors! I stamped the block
on Tim Holtz' Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, and Mustard Seed ink pads, misted lightly with water and stamped on Ranger watercolor paper using the smooth side.  I dried it after each "stamp" using a heat gun.  Balloons were stamped on die cut shapes then popped with foam tape.  Perfect for another masculine birthday card needed this month!  Loved the easy sketch in Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #124.  I'm also CASEing today's Featured Stamper - Maura (aka beesmom) - on SCS with her card HERE for inspiration.

STAMPS: Whole Lotta' Happy (WPlus9)
PAPER: Orange Zest (PTI), White, Black
ACCESSORIES: Whole Lotta Happy dies and Happy Trio dies by WPlus9.

Color Throwdown

Check out these yummy colors for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge!  Broni has this fabulous beach scene to inspire us, however, I decided to go with a feather theme (from seagulls, of course)!

I'm also playing along with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge which is a real classic and simple layout.  I die cut then stamped and white embossed the feathers.  To color them, I squished the ink pads (Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Sahara Sand) and picked up the colors in the lids with an Aquapainter brush and painted on the back side of each feather. I discovered that adhering vellum to a card is easy and doesn't show through when I use clear Kool Tak foam pads (found mine at Simon Says Stamp).  I die cut two sentiments - one in black and the second in Sahara Sand then off set them slightly for a shadow effect.

Our guest star stamper this week is Christy Stanford of Snapdragon Stamps, so be sure and check out her gallery HEREPlay along with us this week and you just might be in the spotlight next week!  You don't have to have exact colors to play along, but you do need to have a close resemblance.  Be sure and link your creation to the linky tool at the bottom of the current challenge post on the Color Throwdown blog.

CQC & Sketchbook Saturday

I am really loving both the colors in the Colour Q Challenge and the layout for the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge! This is the result when I merged the two. When I saw that gorgeous floral dress design, I knew I wanted to use more of the Spring Blooms stamp set with coordinating dies by WPlus9.  The striped border was a scrap piece of paper from MME's "Happier" Six by Six pad and the scalloped border was the negative leftover of a MFT Die-Namic whose name totally escapes me now. The embossed BG is a folder by Lifestyle Crafts.

INK: Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, Calypso Coral, Pretty in Pink, Crushed Curry, Black Licorice hybrid ink by MFT.

Bunnies and Blooms

This card is a "threefer"...i.e., made for three different challenges:
SCS Free 4 All Challenge - Use circles in the background.
Colour Q Challenge
Sketchbook Saturday Challenge - sketch by Chupa.

I had happy mail earlier today - several stencils from Simon Says Stamp and
some new stitched dies by Lil Inker Designs!  I picked Tim Holtz distress inks that were close to the Colour Q colors and stenciled the background using TCW's Mini Well Rounded stencil.

Here's my enabler's list:
STAMPS: Rainbow and Clouds Sentiments (Lil Inker Designs)
PAPER: Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, White, Calypso Coral, Groovy Guava
INK: Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade, Weathered Wood, Dried Marigold - all distress inks by TH
ACCESSORIES: Stitched bunny and floral dies by Lil Inker Designs; Buttons by SU, A2 Curved Borders One by Spellbinders; TCW Mini Well Rounded stencil.

Corner Collage

SS and church...beef stew, homemade rolls and baked apples for lunch...then some lazy stamping time in the afternoon! The sun is out and it's not so miserably cold...love this day!  Today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS is honoring Mynnette (aka stamping_Mynn).  I cased her card HERE.  I'm also playing along with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge...LOVE her sketches!

I used splatters and sequins to echo Mynn's circle elements.  For the sparkle element, I went with some Wendy Vecchi metallic gold embossing paste which adds so much fun dimension and sheen!  I first stamped the script background by only inking up a portion of the BG stamp with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I then stamped the floral image in Peacock Feathers ink, then added the embossing paste with a fern stencil by TCW.  Some grunge splatters in Lucky Limeade, a hello die (Simon Says Stamp) in Early Espresso, a fussy cut stamped washi tape image from SU's Tape It set, and some Lucky Blend sequins by Avery Elle complete this fun to create freestyle collage card!

STAMPS: Tape It (SU), Gorgeous Grunge (SU), French Script (SU), Nature's Moments (Tim Holtz).

Gaga Over Sequins

...and that's the theme for the Free 4 All Challenge on SCS today.  I'm a big fan of sequins and here lately, you'll generally always see a few sprinkled on my creations.

My favorites are from Avery Elle where the color families have varying sizes and shades of color in each package.  I'm also playing along with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge - isn't that a fabulous layout?!  I thought it would be perfect to sneak peek some new ODBD goodies that will be released tomorrow!  The bumblebee and zinnias are from the Zinnia stamp set which has matching dies available as well.  The largest zinnia on this card is actually the smallest of two zinnia images.  I wanted varying sizes for this sketch, so stamped the flower 3 times and fussy cut two smaller sizes.  I used Stampendous Detail White EP on Real Red cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black on vellum and clear embossed.  Notice the border?  I took one of ODBD Beautiful Border dies from their February release and trimmed off the narrow scalloped portion.  It's a way to get more bang for your buck - lol!  I love trying to think outside of the box with my supplies!

Thanks so much for stopping by...TGIF and I have the day off!  I'm working on LOTS of laundry today then need to run some errands.

Sketchbook Saturday Sketch

This card is a CASE of today's SCS Featured Stamper - rebeccadeeprose - whose card HERE inspired me. It also fits Chupa's current Sketchbook Saturday Challenge, so it's a two for one special! :-)  I took a very literal interpretation with the layout and used these leafy dies by Cheery Lynn Designs then added some satin roses using medium glue dots.  The sentiment was a complimentary freebie stamp from PTI that I never inked up and have had for a very long time.  I was happy for these challenges, so I could finally use it.

PAPER: Soft Sky (SU), True Black and Soft Stone (PTI).

Color Throwdown

Don't you just LOVE this delightful color combo that Broni has thrown down for us this week?! I embraced them for another Christmas card and was in love with the non-traditional color combo!

This is the last Color Throwdown challenge for 2013, but be assured we will be back in 2014 with more awesome colors and a new guest designer!  I want to thank Cindy Lawrence for her gorgeous card samples the past two months!  She totally rocks!

This card is all about favorites for me.  Anyone following my blog knows I love this SU Gorgeous Grunge set for fun backgrounds.  The snowflake die is another favorite winter element that is so fun to layer.  I also love the funky fonts in Julee's Joyous Noel stamp set (Verve), so couldn't resist using a sentiment from that set.  I'm a big fan of Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge and the current one really jumped out at me.  What a great layout!

Remember...to play along with the Color Throwdown challenge, you don't have to use exact colors - just something that's close.  If you upload to a public gallery, please use the keyword CTD 272 and also link up your card on the Color Throwdown blog using the linky tool.

Sketchbook Saturday

Brrrr...baby, it's COLD outside!! It was a rude awakening this morning when I got up at 8 AM and it
was 21 degrees outside and VERY windy with a much lower wind chill factor! Guess the use of snowflakes on this card is right on target when I see the forecast for this week. :-(  I loved the layout that Chupa has for the current  Sketchbook Saturday Challenge!  Pulled out a paper pad from last year called "Sweater Weather" by MME and highlighted with the navy and kraft colors.  For some reason, I'm drawn to using the eclectic combination of sparkle and bling with jute twine.   Thanks for stopping by...

STAMPS: Richly Blessed (Verve)
PAPER: Sweater Weather (MME), Night of Navy, Silver glitter CS (SU), White (PTI)
INK: Night of Navy
ACCESSORIES: Large snowflake punch by EK Success, Small snowflake punch by Martha Stewart, Jute twine, Navy satin ribbon, Doily by SU, Corner chomper, Rhinestone.

Stamp Club Results

Always enjoy getting together every other month for my SU demo's stamp club meeting! This morning we learned how to create custom sized envelopes using the envelope punch board and also created the above winter card using this adorable snowman from SU's "Snow Day" set, some washi tape, an embossing folder, button and twine.  The snowman was stamped off once using Sahara Sand ink which gives it a subtle rustic feel.  I added some jute twine to my button - also by SU.  The card base is Sahara Sand cardstock.  The cool guy was fussy cut and popped with foam tape.

My notecard is 4" x 3" and uses Chupa's current Sketchbook Saturday Challenge layout - a unique angled pattern.  I had some retired SU designer papers and paired them with Vintage Cream CS - finishing it off with some Early Espresso ribbon by SU.  The stamped images are from Reverse Confetti's last release...a set called "Tinsel 'n Trim.

Gold & Silver Christmas

I have another quick Monday post...this time for 3 of my favorite challenges:
CAS-ual Fridays - embossing
Sketchbook Saturday Challenge - after posting, I realized I didn't make the main panel an offset area of the base! :-(  Will have to try this sketch again and do it right next time!
CAS challenge on SCS - use one of 3 inspiration photos (I chose the gold and silver wreath).

The wreath, from WPlus9's Woodland Wreaths set, has 4 different stamped layers with Pear Pizzazz, Baked Brown Sugar, embossed silver and lastly, embossed gold berries.  I created the embossed stripes using images from SU's Gorgeous Grunge set and the sentiment is from Verve's Joyous Noel set.

ACCESSORIES: Corner chomper, Gold and silver cording, SU silver EP, Queen's Gold EP by Ranger, Woodland Wreath die set.
