Color Throwdown #631

Happy hump day everyone! We are finally seeing some warmer temperatures which is a huge relief after freezing and sub-freezing temps many days the past several weeks! It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and Amy Rysavy is our hostess this week. Our colors are turquoise, pink, rust and magenta.

My sentiment is Americana dye ink which is the closest to rust in the Ink to Paper line of dye inks. I also brushed on some rust chalk color over the frame which was first stamped with Sweet Blush.

STAMPS: Effortless Beauties - florals, Lush Blooms - for the sentiment, Antique Wishes - frame (all by Ink to Paper).

PAPER: White (Ink to Paper).

INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Americana, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores (Ink to Paper).

DIES: Antique Wishes, Effortless Beauties (Ink to Paper).

We'd love to have you play along with us! Hope to see you in the gallery!                                                     ~Wanda

The Card Concept Challenge

There is a fabulous inspiration photo for the current Card Concept Challenge! I loved the colors and was also inspired by florals in the curtains. My style would most likely be called clean and layered. I went with some new florals from this month's release at Ink to Paper called Pop Up Florals.
The sentiment is from Effortless Beauties (also from the new release).

I smooshed some Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron distress oxide inks onto water color paper then adhered an overlay of the Cover Plate: Trellis die.

STAMPS: Pop Up Florals, Effortless Beauties (Ink to Paper).

INK: Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, True Black (Ink to Paper); Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron distress oxide (Ranger).

PAPER: White (Ink to Paper), Bristol Smooth Surface.

DIES: Cover Plate: Trellis, Pop Up Florals, Effortless Beauties, Banner Builders: Basics (Ink to Paper).

Thanks so much for stopping by!                ~Wanda

Release Day at Ink to Paper/Papertrey Ink

Good Saturday everyone! It's a frigid weekend in VA and not to get above freezing today or tomorrow! Brrr but thankful for heat, power and water...unlike so many in Texas! I'm going to organize my craft room a bit and maybe get inky as well. It's release day at Ink to Paper and products will be available at 10 PM EST. I expect many of the popular items to fly off the shelves quickly - especially since there's a 15% off sale on everything but paper to celebrate the company's 14th anniversary! I wanted to create another card using the Effortless Beauties set. I only used a small portion of the florals on my bird card from yesterday and wanted to show you how beautiful the roses can be.

I seldom go to using orange and not sure why. I do love it paired with blue (gotta love those UVA colors - lol)! If you ever watch Shauna from Foiled Fox on her videos, she will often spritz the stamp once with water after she inks it up. You can do this with dye inks and it gives it a more mottled watercolor look. I used this technique on this card and think it works better with Bristol Smooth Surface paper instead of regular white card stock.
The Enchanted Evening panel has the berries stamped on it in the same color ink to give a tone on tone look (hard to see in the photos but I love this detail).

STAMPS: Effortless Beauties (Ink to Paper).

PAPER: White, Enchanted Evening (Ink to Paper); Bristol Smooth Surface.

INK: Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Canyon Clay, Summer Rain, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado (Ink to Paper).

DIES: Tag Sale: Quilted die, Effortless Beauties (Ink to Paper).

Stay warm and safe everyone!                              ~Wanda

ITP Reveal Day #4

The fourth and last day of reveals for Ink to Paper's new release is finally here! The release will be available for purchase tomorrow at 10 PM ET, so get that shopping list ready! Today, we are introducing She Blooms Stamp Set and Dies + Effortless Beauties Stamp Set and Dies + Feathered Friends 8 Dies.

My first card features the gorgeous She Blooms set which is something new to my stamping stash. I tried several different color combos and ultimately came back to my fave Sweet Blush and Aqua Mist.

I layered the delicate doily over two notched die layers of Bitty Big
patterns. I wanted to add some form of bling with the formal look of the image, so I raided my bling supply and found these gemstones on a strip. The sentiment is on the inside--->

STAMPS: She Blooms (Ink to Paper).

INK: Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, True Black, Fine Linen, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean.

PAPER: Bitty Big: Sweet Blush, White (Ink to Paper).

DIES: She Blooms, Delicate Doilies, Love to Layer: Notched (Ink to Paper).

My last card uses the Effortless Beauties set and the Feathered Friends 8 dies.

In the winter, the bears are hibernating and they don't come out to tear down our bird feeders like they do when it's warmer. We had a lot of gold finches feeding outside my kitchen window the day I made this card and that inspired my colors.
I wanted a bold striped background, so cut out a variety of strips of card stock to create this pattern. There are many more flowers in the Effortless Beauties set, but I only chose a few images for this one.

I cut all the bird parts from white card stock then color brushed the die inks onto each piece.

STAMPS: Effortless Beauties (Ink to Paper).

INK: True Black, Smokey Shadow, Fine Linen, Canyon Clay, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado (ITP).

PAPER: White, Harvest Gold, Weathervane, True Black (ITP).

DIES: Feathered Friends 8, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Effortless Beauties (Ink to Paper).

ITP Reveal Day #3

It's day three of reveals at Ink to Paper and we've got more blooms and also a new bird in the mix. Today, we are introducing Framed in Florals Stamp Set and Dies + Cover Plate: Vines + Feathered Friends Mini 8 Stamp Set and Dies.

There is no coloring involved with the Framed in Florals set...unless you want to go with that technique. There are stamps for you to fill in every piece of the picture puzzle! I wanted a little bit of gingham to show around the frame and already have many more ideas I'd like to try with this set.
STAMPS: Framed in Florals (Ink to Paper).

INK: Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Green Parakeet, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Ocean Tides, Honey Nut, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer sunrise, Berry Sorbet, Pale Peony, True Black.

PAPER: White; Gingham Farm 6x6" pad (My Mind's Eye).

DIES: Love to Layer: Notched, Framed in Florals (Ink to Paper).

My next card showcases the beautiful Vines cover plate die.

I color blended the base with Shabby Shutters and Speckled Egg distress oxide inks. It reminded me of sky and grass...just perfect for a young bunny to romp in!

I colored the bunny with Copics though this set gives you the option to stamp in the colors.

STAMPS: Sweet Hoppiness (Ink to Paper).

INK: Shabby Shutters, Speckled Egg distress oxide (Ranger); Lavender Moon, Amethyst Allure, Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado.

PAPER: Bristol Sooth Surface; White (PTI); X-Press It Blending Card.

DIES: Cover Plate: Vines, Border Bling: Diamonds, Sweet Hoppiness (Ink to Paper).

I paired the new mini bird with a portion of the vine die. I did not remove the center veining in the leaves this time like I did in the previous card.
My goal was to have a look of the vine climbing a weathered old building made of brick and shiplap. The wood dies were color blended with Weathered Wood and Frayed Burlap distress oxide inks. I didn't have card stock that matched well, so I cut the doily die from white card stock then brushed the Weathered Wood ink over the edges.

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 8, Tiny Blooms, Rustick Brick Background (Ink to Paper).

INK: Shabby Shutters, Weathered Wood, Frayed Burlap, Speckled Egg distress oxide (Ranger); True Black, Smokey Shadow, Classic Kraft, Canyon Clay, Fine Linen (Ink to Paper).

PAPER: Fine Linen, White (ITP).

DIES: Woodwork, Delicate Doilies, Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border, Cover Plate: Vines, Tiny Blooms, Feathered Friends Mini 8 (Ink to Paper).

Fusion Card Challenge

Hi everyone! It's a busy week for me, but I'm happy to say there is a new Fusion Card Challenge up and running! This rainbow dress was the inspiration for my card as well as the sketch. I went to some stamps and dies from Ink to Paper for this fun rainbow creation.

I stamped everything with  my MISTI so I could get bolder images (especially those large cross stitches).

STAMPS: Playful Patterns, It's A Sign: Birthday Sentiments (Ink to Paper).

INK: Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Lavender Moon, Green Parakeet, True Black (Ink to Paper).

PAPER: Bitty Big: True Black, Bright Buttercup, White (Ink to Paper).

DIES: On the Border: Sunburst Border, Playful Patterns (Ink to Paper); Stitched Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

This is a one layer card which is something you don't see often from me - lol! Hope you will able to play along with us.

Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

ITP Reveal Day #2

Welcome back to the second day of reveals for the Ink to Paper February release. This month's theme is all about blooms and today we introduce you to Pop-Up Envelope Dies + Pop-Up Florals + Just Sentiments: Blooms + Lush Blooms Stamp Set and Dies + Inside Greetings: Blooms Stamp Set. This will be a long post, so grab a drink and buckle up!

First, a closed envelope shot then below you see the open view.

The flowers and leaves have accordian-folded strips adhered to the backs. You "smoosh" them down to close the flaps then they "pop" up when you open the flaps.
It's hard to get a good view in my light box of the space between the flowers and the envelope. I popped the sentiment with foam tape.

STAMPS: Pop-Up Florals (Ink to Paper).
INK: Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, True Black, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal.
PAPER: Bitty Big: Soft Stone, White, Soft Stone, True Black (Ink to Paper).
DIES: Pop-Up Envelope Dies, Pop-Up Florals.
OTHER: Oval punches.

I next wanted to create an A-2 sized card using more of these flowers in a non-pop-up mode paired with this fun sentiment.
I used one of the stripes from the plaid stencil set by Papertrey Ink and color blended with Shabby Shutters distress oxide ink. A quick and easy design topped off with a trio of enamel dots.

STAMPS: Pop-Up Florals, Just Sentiments: Bloom.
INK: True Black, Simply Chartreuse, ripe Avocado, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Scarlet Jewel, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Pinefeather (Ink to Paper).
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White (Ink to Paper).
DIES: Pop-Up Florals, To the Point Edgers (Ink to Paper).
OTHER: Plaid Stencils (Papertrey Ink).

Next is probably my favorite set of the release: Lush Blooms.
The flower and leaves involve 3 step stamping which gives a beautiful dimensional look with very little effort!
Again, I added background dimension by using Liquitex modeling paste with one of the Modern stencils by Papertrey Ink. I angled the pierced frame to give some added visual interest.

<--Inside sentiment

STAMPS: Lush Blooms, Inside Greetings: Blooms (Ink to Paper).

INK: Pale Peony, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean, True Black (Ink to Paper).

PAPER: Bitty Big: True Black, White (Ink to Paper).

DIES: Pierced Feature Frames, Lush Blooms, Stitched Rectangle (Ink to Paper).

OTHER: Modern stencils by Papertrey Ink.

I couldn't stop with just one lush bloom, so created a coral version.

I added a belly band of vellum so the sentiment would not cover up much of the background.

STAMPS: Lush Bloom (Ink to Paper).

INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean; Versamark.

PAPER: Soft Stone, White (ITP); Vellum.

DIES: Lush Bloom, Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Mix and Mat: Postal (Ink to Paper).

OTHER: Gold embossing powder, Seam binding.

That's it for today. Be sure to stop back tomorrow for day three of reveals!
