Fusion Card Challenge

It's time again for another Fusion Card Challenge! Check out the awesome butterfly inspiration photo or if you prefer...just go with the sketch! I decided to go with both the sketch and the photo for my take on it. I have a story behind my photos. I mailed some cards to my daughter in another state and totally forgot to take pictures to post for the challenge. She was gracious to take some pics for me, so that's why my "props" aren't as usual! Thanks to Sammy for being a gracious assistant - lol!

I started with an alcohol ink panel that used Cobalt blue ink, gold mixative and blending solution on Yupo paper. I cut out two butterflies - one from black card stock and one from heavy weight vellum. You can never have enough thank you cards so I went with that for a sentiment. A very clean and simple card!

STAMPS: Hello Lovely ( Concord and 9th).
PAPER: White, True Black (Papertrey Ink/Ink to Paper).
INK: Cobalt alcohol ink; Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Floral and Flutter dies by Concord and 9th; Stitched Ric Rac and Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.

We'd love to have you play along with us! Hope to see you in the gallery.
                                         Happy stamping!       ~Wanda

Paper Players Color Week

This week it's all about color at The Paper Players Challenge! Laurie has chosen eggplant, tangerine, gray and black for our color palette and I decided to add those colors to what I consider a neutral background of kraft! I colored the images with Zig watercolor brush markers and because I white embossed the images, it worked pretty well though I couldn't get much shading accomplished.

I initially added 3 die cut layers of the sentiment using black cardstock. It just didn't flow with the rest of the card so I cut one more layer of white and offset it a bit. Then I was happy with the look!

STAMPS: Hello Lovely (Concord and 9th).
PAPER: Kraft, True Black, White (Papertrey Ink); Orange Zest (My Favorite Things).
INK: Versamark.
DIES: Grateful Leaf Dies (Concord and 9th); Blueprint 27 (My Favorite Things).
MISC: Pure White embossing powder by Altenew.

More Concord & 9th Cards

I'm adding two more entries into the Concord and 9th celebration contest for their 4th birthday! You can see more details on my post HERE.  My first card uses tiny stamps from C9's Love You Mean It stamp set. I used a wreath builder template to space out the stamps evenly. The background - Plaid Background - was stamped several times with a MISTI. Inks used were all distress oxide inks.

My second card is a clean and simple design using both stamps and dies from C9's Give Thanks set.

The cardstock is from my leftover pile so I'm not 100% sure of the color names. Inks used were Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch, and Wilted Violet distress oxide inks.

The sentiment was embossed with SU Silver detail embossing powder on heavy weight vellum paper. I used the largest Crimped Frame die from The Greetery.

So, now I cross my fingers and toes that my name gets randomly chosen to win the $40 gift card from Concord and 9th! :-)

Concord and 9th Turns Four!

Concord and 9th is celebrating their 4th year in business and they are giving away a $40 gift card to their store for one lucky recipient! You can enter multiple times but you need to use C9 products.  My first entry uses my fave set - Lace Leaf - and it matches their Grateful Leaf die set.

I smooshed and splattered the background with distress oxide inks: Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive and Walnut Stain. I also splattered some yellow gold ink from the Gansai Tambi Starry Color set (water based pigment).
The leaf was gold embossed then dabbed lightly with some amber and olive inks. The sentiment was cut 3 times and adhered together to give it more of a chipboard feel. Because it's such a delicate font, it also makes it easier to adhere to your card if you have more layers. I seldom use my crimper but used it with some kraft CS then sponged white pigment ink on the edges. It adds a great textural element, so I need to remember to do this more often. The base was die cut using a Crimped Frame die by The Greetery.

Remember...if you enter Concord and 9th's contest, you must post your card on social media and use the following tags:
#c9turns4 and #concordand9th
Deadline is September 2. Winners will be picked randomly.

That's all for now...maybe another C9 entry will get made this evening.  Have a great weekend!                         ~Wanda

Paper Players Color Challenge

Good Sunday everyone! It's color week at the Paper Players Challenge and Jaydee is asking us to use black and white with one other color.  I went to my small drawer of washi tape and went with the four rolls you see in the photo. I covered a white cardstock  panel (4"x 5 1/4") then adhered it to a white A2 size card base.

STAMPS: Simple Strips Background (Taylored Expressions).
PAPER: White, True Black (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Simple Strips Background (Taylored Expressions); Square Peek/Boo Window (My Favorite Things); Floral and Flutter dies (Concord and 9th).

Crazy 4 Challenges

It's been awhile since I've played along with the Crazy 4 Challenges, but the theme is to use flowers this week, so that's a no brainer for me since it's my fave subject to stamp!

This is one of those cards that doesn't make me happy when I hold it (for you Marie Kondo fans...you know what I mean!).  I colored with Zig watercolor markers and just wasn't satisfied with the end results.  I'm going to need to practice some more! The color combo is one from a former Color Throwdown challenge and got rejected (by me) as a sample for that week - lol! I guess I was feeling guilty, so brought it out again and am posting it for the C4C floral challenge.  The sun was finally shining today and warmed things up into the upper 60's and THAT definitely made me happy!  :-)

Fusion Card Challenge

It's time for another Fusion Card Challenge and I have focused primarily on the sketch option. I did note the little plate of hearts in the photo so was inspired to use a heart as my focal point. This fun Heartstrings die set by Concord and 9th gives so many great options for design!  I had this water colored piece in my leftover pile, so that was my starting point for colors.  I used distress inks, but did not keep notes of the colors I used.

The Iced Aqua (Reverse Confetti) CS is a favorite shade of aqua and I use it often!  The stitched square and rectangle STAX DieNamics are by My Favorite Things.  The sentiment was stamped three times with a MISTI using Versamark Onyx Black ink and is from Concord and 9th's Give Thanks stamp set.

Love is in the Air

I don't know about you, but I LOVE creating Valentine/heart/love cards! Joanne has chosen the following theme for this week's Paper Players Challenge: LOVE IS IN THE AIR. I thought this pair of love birds would be perfect for the theme and paired them with the blossom die - both by Concord and 9th!

I stamped the floating mini hearts using Picked Raspberry distress oxide ink. The stripes and sentiment were stamped multiple times using a MISTI and Versafine Onyx Black ink.  After die cutting the birds and florals, I punched out the little pieces and sponged them with Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber and Vintage Photo distress oxide inks. I then inlaid the pieces into the outline portion of the die. The birds' eyes are tiny black rhinestones.

We would love to see how you interpret this fun theme!  For more inspiration...check out the rest of the design team's samples HERE

JUGS Word Week

I'm playing along with the Just Us Girls challenge where it's word week and the word is LOVE. Nothing gives a visualization of love like hearts IMO, so I used the negative die cut on a gelli print panel that I completed a LONG time ago.  The stitched flowers were leftovers from a previous project, so this card came together very quickly!

STAMPS: Love You Mean It (Concord and 9th).
DIES: Stitched Flowers (My Favorite Things); Heartstrings (Concord and 9th).

Happy 5th Anniversary to FCC!

The ladies at Fusion Card Challenge are celebrating 5 years today! Each of us has invited a guest designer and I'm thrilled to share that Broni Holcombe of Splashes of Watercolor graciously agreed to be my guest!  I'm a long time fan of Broni's work and am always in awe of her creative eye for design and her fabulous coloring skills! Click on her blog link above to see the gorgeous card she created!

As a special treat, friends at CAS-ual Fridays have offered us a $25 gift code for one randomly drawn entrant in the gallery. Thanks so much, Michele!

Below is my take on both the sketch and the inspiration photo...

This simple design features the delicate Floral and Flutterby dies by Concord and 9th. The process of a butterfly going through all the changes as it matures is truly a miracle which is what led me to my sentiment choice from Sweet 'n Sassy's Everyday Miracles stamp set.

For more inspiration, be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has created.. Barb Ghigliotty, Jeanne Jachna, Jen Mitchell, Karren Johnson, Linda Callahan, Lyndal Higgins , Michelle Leone, Michelle Lupton, Wanda Cullen (you are here). Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you in the Fusion gallery!

Color Throwdown #508

Hard to believe this is the last Color Throwdown Challenge in August! Lynn has chosen some bright, happy colors: purple, green, yellow and red! I was also inspired by this gorgeous photo of a flower garden, so Concord and 9th's Hello Lovely stamp set seemed the perfect choice. I gold embossed on Ranger's water color card stock and colored with Zig clear color brush markers.

The sentiment was stamped twice in Versafine Onyx Black ink using a MISTI and the die cut word has two layers of Altenew's Gold Mirror card stock.

Color Throwdown #507

Another Wednesday has rolled around, so that means a new Color Throwdown Challenge is up and running! Lori has chosen the great combo of lime green, green, eggplant and aqua! My aqua turned out a little brighter than I first envisioned. I white embossed the leaves on Ranger watercolor card stock then used Zig clean color markers to color them.  I scribbled some of the markers onto acrylic blocks, sprayed with water then picked up color with a brush and had a splattering good time!  I heat dried between colors so it wouldn't get as muddied.

The sentiment die is by Concord and 9th and was cut twice from eggplant CS and once with a scrap of olive green CS.  The zigzag border is from Reverse Confetti's Edge Essentials die set and the stamps are from Simon Says Stamp's Fractile Leaves set.

Another week has rolled around and that means a new Color Throwdown Challenge is happening.  Lisa is our hostess and has these awesome colors for us: peach, aqua, light gray and white!

I used a variety of stamps and a sentiment die by Concord and 9th.  The florals were all fussy cut and popped up with foam tape.

STAMPS: Hope, Barnwood Background, Plaid Background - Concord and 9th.
PAPER: White (PTI), Smoky Slate, Basic Gray (SU).
INK: Pool Party, Crisp Canteloupe, Smoky Slate ( SU).

DTGD Duo

The day after chemotherapy is a "laying low" type of day, so it was perfect for getting a couple more challenge cards completed for the Dare to Get Dirty week on Splitcoaststampers!  My first card is for Brenda's challenge (DTGDBenzi) on 8/6.

I paper pieced some scrap alcohol ink Yupo paper into this floral die by Concord and 9th.  It was layered over a Sunburst Tag Layer by Reverse Confetti. I again used the Stitched Rays cover plate - also by RC.  The sentiment is from RC's Bitty Banners stamp set and was stamped 3 times with Versafine Onyx Black ink with a MISTI.

My second card is for Vicki's challenge (DTGD18summerthyme64B) from today.

Again, I used alcohol ink marbled Yupo paper to die cut the florals from Concord and 9th's Floral and Flutter Dies set. The Scalloped Square background is by Reverse Confetti.  The sentiment is C9's Wonderful Women stamp set and matching Wonderful Words dies.
MFT's Sour Apple cardstock was used for the 5" square card base.

That's all for today...thanks so much for your kind comments
