DTGD Goes Monochromatic

I couldn't resist another card for the DTGD challenge by whippetgirl on Splitcoaststampers! While I can't reveal the details because this special week is for fan club members only, you can easily join in the fun by checking out the link HERE. I had this paper pad - Vintage Finds by Teresa Collins - on my desk from a previous project and decided to use a couple of the saffron colored patterns for this one. I'm also using the great layout for the Sketch Saturday challenge.

DTGD Duo

The day after chemotherapy is a "laying low" type of day, so it was perfect for getting a couple more challenge cards completed for the Dare to Get Dirty week on Splitcoaststampers!  My first card is for Brenda's challenge (DTGDBenzi) on 8/6. 

 
I paper pieced some scrap alcohol ink Yupo paper into this floral die by Concord and 9th.  It was layered over a Sunburst Tag Layer by Reverse Confetti. I again used the Stitched Rays cover plate - also by RC.  The sentiment is from RC's Bitty Banners stamp set and was stamped 3 times with Versafine Onyx Black ink with a MISTI.

My second card is for Vicki's challenge (DTGD18summerthyme64B) from today.  

Again, I used alcohol ink marbled Yupo paper to die cut the florals from Concord and 9th's Floral and Flutter Dies set. The Scalloped Square background is by Reverse Confetti.  The sentiment is C9's Wonderful Women stamp set and matching Wonderful Words dies.
MFT's Sour Apple cardstock was used for the 5" square card base.

More DTGD Cards

I'm not going to be able to get all of the DTGD challenges completed on Splitcoaststampers, but I'm doing what I can and have completed two more entries! The first card also uses the retro sketch that's up for the new CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I sponged Aqua Mist and Tropic Teal inks with TCW's Mini Well Rounded stencil.  I then added texture by using Liquitex light modeling paste with Tim Holtz's Bubble layering stencil.  The images were double and triple stamped with Hero Arts Color Layering Seahorse stamp/die set.  

INKS: Aqua Mist, Tropic Teal, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony - PTI; Sand, Dark Roast- Reverse Confetti; Versafine Onyx Black. 

I had this leafy background die, the circle element and the watercolored florals on my leftover pile.  I stamped the sentiment from Reverse Confetti's The Most Beauty stamp set, then adhered the elements on a white card base...very quick and easy!

DTGD Entries

Hopefully, you are a fan club member on Splitcoaststampers and have the opportunity to play along with some or all of the challenges presented by current and former Dirty Dozen girls! You can find details on how to join HERE. I can't go into details about the challenges here, but wanted to share a couple of cards that I created for two of the challenges so far.

This is for Mary's challenge and I finally got to ink up a new Altenew set called Gradient Sunset.  I inked up the "sun" using 4 shades of inks by Papertrey Ink: Harvest Gold, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Terracotta Tile.  I used my MISTI to stamp the bird and sentiment at least two times as well as the background staggering of the word "happy".  I'm also entering this card into the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge where I tweaked the square element and changed it to a circle.  It also fits for Just Us Girls Challenge where it's word week and the word is "beach".

My second card is a CASE of a card by Laurie Schmidlin and it's for Jeanne's challenge.  The striped pattern paper is from Reverse Confetti's Very Merry 6x6 pad.  The sentiment is from RC's Christmas Blessings stamp set and the wreath includes RC's dies - Leafy Wreath and Tagged Tote (bow).  This is officially my first card for the 2018 Christmas list and I have to say it is really difficult for me to do holiday cards when it's up to 90 degrees outside - lol!

Dare To Get Dirty

It's that time of year again on Splitcoaststampers when the Dirty Dozen gals (both alumni and current) are hosting LOTS of fun challenges for the week! My good friend, Teresa Kline, is hosting a really fun theme challenge today and asked me to make a sample card!  You'll need to be a fan club member on SCS to read all about the details!

One of my favorite heart dies is Simon Says Stamp's Sketch Heart.  I layered up some fussy cut flowers from The Stamp Market's 'You' set and tucked in some leaves from MFT's Mini Modern Blooms.  The watercolor panel has smooshed distress inks and was on my leftover pile.  I think I used Peacock Feathers and Bundled Sage inks.  I cut out the 'You' sentiment three times and adhered the layers together to give it a nice dimensional look.  The glittery enamel dots are from the new SU catalog.

Since my day off wasn't packed to the brim with plans, I found some creative time and played along with 5 of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges on Splitcoaststampers. 

This first card is for Lydia's, Dina's, Lori's and Alba's challenges.  I can't give you details here because you have to be a fan club member to see what the challenges are all about.  You can find out those details HERE.  

STAMPS: Bird Crazy and Crazy Things from the Tim Holtz Collection by Stampers Anonymous; Sentiment is by Dylusions (Ranger) Dyan Reveley.
INK: Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron distress inks - smooshed onto watercolor CS for the background. Memento Tuxedo Black was stamped on X-Press It Blending Card for the bird then colored with Copics.
ACCESSORIES: Light modeling paste used with Tim Holtz mini stencil; Tag die by MFT; Bird Crazy die by Ranger; Stitched rectangle die by Lil' Inker Designs.
 

This one is for Vicki Dutcher's challenge and came together quickly because I already had the background stamped from a previous project and the stitched flag was also pre-cut, so all I did was stamp the sentiment from Verve's Moments Remembered set, adhere the card together and add the gold cording.  The DTGD gallery can be accessed HERE.

Dare to Get Dirty

This is my sample for Lori's second DTGD challenge on SCS! The week of posted challenges is over but you still have time to play along! Click on the blinky ad at the top of my right side bar for details! 

I flashed back to the past with this retired SU set - Feathered Hope - and paper pad (will have to hunt for it to find the name...posting this quickly now before heading out to run errands).   The stitched scallop border and square panel are both dies by Lil' Inker Designs.
Looking forward to a weekend off after a stressful work week!

Color Throwdown

Hi everyone! It's Color Throwdown Challenge time and yours truly is the hostess this week!  Whenever I'm needing some inspiration for a project, Pinterest is my 'go to' place.  The weathered background and the soft corals and greens paired with kraft really caught my eye and I thought it would make a fitting color combo for endless card possibilities!  I really thought I was going to go with a beachy theme with my card, but decided in the end to go with an old technique I call "weathered wood" instead.

I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of kraft cardstock then scored in 1" intervals.  I then swiped a white ink pad vertically "with the grain" in an uneven pattern.  Next step was to swipe some Oasis Green chalk ink in random spots.  This card was also created for Stacy's (JBgreendawn) Dare to Get Dirty challenge on SCS.

We're excited to announce our new guest designer for August...drum roll please...Lindsay Amhrein of Note to Self!  I love her work and am so excited to see what she'll bring to the gallery!

Dare to Get Dirty and Color Challenge

I'm playing along with the Color Challenge on SCS to use Elegant Eggplant, Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow and Delightful Dijon.  I'm also playing in Anne's DTGD challenge and for details, you will need to be a Fan Club member.  If you are interested in joining...please check it all out HERE.

For my background, I took 4 different distress markers that were close to the SU colors and scribbled them on an acrylic block.  I then sprayed the block with water and "stamped" it onto the rough side of Tim Holtz water color cardstock.  I heat set it then die cut it using a stitched rectangle die (Lil' Inker Designs).  The image is from Flourishes' Dahlias set - a retired company that I always loved.  It's colored with Copics on X-Press It Blending Card paper and fussy cut since I was too lazy to hook up my Silhouette Cameo to crank out the cut file.  Also, the machine is VERY noisy and I didn't want to wake up my sleeping husband. :-/  The sentiment is from Greetings and Salutations by WPlus9 and stamped on the smallest tag die of their Timeless Tag 2 die set.  Thanks for stopping by...

Dare to Get Dirty

I hope you've gotten a chance to check out the fun challenges being presented by the Dirty Dozen gals on SCS this week (click on the logo on my right sidebar for the link or you can click HERE).  I created this card for Lydia's and Lori's challenges. I can only tease you in my description, because you'll need to be a Fan Club member on Splitcoaststampers to get in on the details!  I wish I could tell you how I used the "magic solution" for the neato background, but lips must remain sealed! :-) Let's just say, I had a pleasant surprise while playing with the process!

Dare to Get Dirty

Wow...I nearly forgot to post my Dare to Get Dirty card sample that I created for my BFF Teresa's challenge today. I can't go into the details of her challenge. Hopefully, you're a fan club member and you can check it out on Splitcoaststampers!  I had fun with this summertime creation and once again...used some embossing paste with the graduated hearts stencil by MFT in the background.  Paper is from Echo Park's For the Record 6x6 pad.  Stitched circle dies are by Lil Inker Designs.  The heart seeds are the "insides" of a Heart circle Nestabilities die.  Sentiment is from Verve's Hope Blooms stamp set.

Speaking of watermelons...John Tesh posted today that melons with seeds are sweeter than those without.  Also, you get more antioxidants when a watermelon is at room temperature than if it's cold.  Sorry, John, but I like my watermelon COLD! Also...it's loaded with Vitamin B6!  Just a little late night trivia - lol!

Dare to Get Dirty

More DTGD Cards...

I used Karen Giron's sketch for her Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and created this card for two more DTGD challenges on SCS: Bevmom and Texasgrammy. The polished stone panel was made using gold metallic ink refill by Tsukineko along with Soft Sky and Mauve Mist reinkers by SU.   The tree is a die by Impression Obsession.  The sentiment die is by PTI.

Getting a few more DTGD challenges crossed off my master challenge list... This card is for challenges by frenziedstamper and Ardyth.  I added a touch of snow to the pine branch and cones and to the grass by adding white gel pen and glitter.  This is a typical scene we see from our sun room as we look outside to our meadow.  The other evening we saw 6 deer at one time!  They are loving our apple tree right now! :-)  I'm OK with that because the apples aren't a variety that is good to eat.
