Leafy Sympathy

 

I'm loving this new Leafy Garden stencil collection just released by Papertrey Ink. It's got a "messy" look by not having the leaves line up perfectly! I'm trying to rebuild my sympathy card stash after needing several over the summer.

Stencils Are Our Game!

 

I pulled out these stamps/stencils/dies from Kristina Werner's line (Long Line Roses) at Concord & 9th. I love that I could completely color these florals using only stencils with dye inks and brushes! There is also a subtle diamond mesh stenciling on the background. I'm entering this into the "Crazy is our fame - STENCILS are our game!" challenge. I chose not to include the optional theme of butterflies. My card measures 5"x 6.5".

Color Throwdown #843

Hard to believe it's already time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. This time our colors are lime, pink and orange...one of my favorite happy color combos!

I decided these colors would work great with Concord & 9th's Triple Step Happy Day stamp and die set.

Color Throwdown #832

 

Happy hump day friends! It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and Tammy, the current host, has chosen dark blue, light blue and red. The quilt block in the photo also inspired me to go with a sewing theme. My mother and maternal grandmother are no longer living but both were very avid quilters. Memories of them sewing/piecing quilts were going through my mind as I "pieced" this card base.

The Card Concept Challenge

The Card Concept Challenge has a fabulous mood board for inspiration! I used the colors (all but one) and also was inspired to go with a birthday theme as this fun party table suggests. Concord & 9th has a very unique triple stamp happy day set with coordinating dies. It has endless possibilities for combining elements and I always love to add some patterned stamping to the letters and to add some dimension by popping up a few with foam tape.

The Paper Players

The Paper Players challenge has a travel theme for this week's challenge. It was the nudge I needed to finally use the Plane Amazing dies I've had for months and never used. I realized I forgot to order the coordinating stamp set, so that is currently on the way. In the meantime, I pulled out the Tuck It: Travel stamp set by  Papertrey Ink and used a sentiment.

CAS Colors & Sketches

 

Good Saturday everyone! I got some happy crafty mail yesterday and just had to make a couple of cards using Concord & 9th's Triple-Step Happy Day stamp set. I've always loved traditional samplers - especially when I was in counted cross stitch mode many years ago. This stamp set reminds me of a contemporary sampler and it has countless possibilities for a variety of occasions. I watched the YouTube video HERE by Carissa Wiley which is very helpful with learning to use this new bundle. I always struggle to keep a card clean and simple. I just always want to layer and pop up the elements for added dimension, so hope this will be OK to enter into the CAS Colors & Sketches #555 challenge.

Color Throwdown #813

 

It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. This week, Broni is hosting with yellow, pink and orange. I used two shades of pink along with the yellow and light orange so I'd have 4 colors to "piece" in the quilt pattern.

I decided to combine the new sunflower edge die (just released from PTI) with the pinwheel quilt top dies by Concord & 9th. The jury is still out on this design - haha! I added tiny pop dots under each flower petal to give it more dimension.

I had the stenciled heart background in my leftover stash which led me to choosing the yellow and coral papers to match it on the bracelets.

Color Throwdown #734

 

Happy hump day friends! There is a new Color Throwdown challenge happening  with Amy Rohl as our hostess. Colors are green, cream and brown with added neutrals allowed. I pulled out an old stamp/die set from Concord & 9th called Lace Leaf stamp set with coordinating Grateful Leaf dies. I wanted to use a lot of green shades for this background and used a total of 9 distress inks! 😲

 

I added a band of vellum where I gold embossed a portion of the sentiment then added a 3 layer die cut "grateful" sentiment. Some gold sequins finished it up.

Color Throwdown #732

Happy hump day crafty friends! The new Color Throwdown challenge is up and this week it's coral, yellow, blue and navy. I decided to go into paper "quilting" mode and pulled out these dies from Concord & 9th. The sentiment is from The Stamp Market.

I went with the pinwheel pattern when I glued down the triangles.  I topped it off with moonshine sequins. Fairly quick and easy though cutting and arranging the triangles takes a bit of time.

Everyday Purse

 

Hello crafty friends! I finally had a chance to create a second purse from the stamp and die set collaboration between Becky Roberts and Concord & 9th. I made one with my granddaughter prior to our vacation but I wanted to try another one. It went so much quicker this time and really is an easy 3D project to complete! I watched two YouTube videos which were quite helpful. The first one is by Becky Roberts - the creator of this set - and you can watch it HERE. Another very helpful tutorial is by Carrie Rhoades that you can see HERE.

The houndstooth patterned paper is a sturdier weight (12" x 12" - source unknown). I wouldn't recommend a thin paper for this. The stitching on the "leather" details doesn't show up in the photos. Aren't those dangling accessories (the charm and the tassel) just the cutest?! I discovered the best closure, in my opinion, and that is the tiny disc magnets available through The Greetery. They are not a strong magnet which makes it easy to open and close the purse without tearing it apart. Just remember to use both a positive and negative side with each closure.

Color Throwdown #694

 

Happy hump day which means it's time for another Color Throwdown challenge! Amy Rohl is hosting with the colors black, red, yellow and aqua. I knew right away I wanted to use my new Pinwheel Quilt Top dies from Concord & 9th. While I'm breaking the chain of avid quilters in my family (mother and grandmother) with fabric, I can do the next best thing and make quilt patterns with paper!

I paired the background with an older sentiment die from Concord & 9th called You've Got This. I die cut it from white and black and offset the layers slightly when I adhered them together. No stamps or ink used on this card!

PAPER: Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy, True Black, Bright Buttercup, White (Papertrey Ink).

DIES: Pinwheel Quilt Top, You've Got This (Concord & 9th).
