Poinsettia in Pink

Happy Saturday friends! Getting this post up before the huge game at noon between Ohio State and Indiana! I was born and raised in Ohio so I'm always a Buckeye fan - lol! I brought out an old stamp/die set from Altenew and am using the current sketch at Try A Sketch On Tuesday.

I was also inspired by the mood   board for Just Us Girls challenge: pink and brown, snowflakes, greenery, etc.

I white embossed all the images then watercolored and die cut from Ranger's water color paper.  The background panel was a stenciled piece I had in my leftover pile.

STAMPS: Poinsettia & Pine, Holiday Wishes (Altenew).
INK: Lovely Lady (PTI); Frayed Burlap, Gathered Twigs, Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles, Evergreen Bough distress inks by Ranger; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stampers Select White (Papertrey Ink); Water Color (Ranger).
DIES: Poinsettia & Pine (Altenew); Love to Layer: Squares (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Washi tape; Moonshine sequins, Snowflake stencil (PTI); Alabaster embossing powder (Brutus Monroe).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Game is on!  ~Wanda

Sew Happy

Good Friday everyone! I am joining in two different challenges today after receiving some new goodies from The Greetery earlier this week.  First is the Try Stamping on Tuesday challenge which has a sketch. Next up is the Seize the Birthday challenge which has an off the edge theme. My large circle element was placed "off the edge" then trimmed to fit the A2 tapestry base.

The new Rose Tapestry stencil set is SEW MUCH FUN (sorry...couldn't resist a pun!) and this time I used shades of the coral color family (an earlier post used shades of pink).  My mother was an avid seamstress and quilter and she would have loved this card if she had not passed away in 2010.

STAMPS: Stitched Sentiments (The Greetery).
INK: Meadow, Key Lime, Olive, Sunkissed, Mimosa, Mango Sorbet, Fruit Punch (dye inks by Pinkfresh Studio); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stampers Select White, Classic Kraft, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Metallic silver and gold.
DIES: Stitched Sentiments, Aida Cloth Texture Plate, Notionable, Hoopla Oval (The Greetery).
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting! Enjoy your day!  ~Wanda

Try Stampin' On Tuesday

I need to replenish my card supply with some "thank you" sentiments, so decided to play along with the sketch for the current Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge. I had the Dainty Deliveries Frame die cut from Simply Chartreuse paper layered over the same color in my leftover stash and never used it because I didn't get the edges even when I went to glue them together. I had to come up with Plan B which was to die cut the layers with a Torn Edges die. I used a branch instead of a horizontal banner and opted for a bird instead of the oval shape in the sketch.

The bird was die cut from white card stock then, the different parts were color blended using brushes. I've learned the hard way that it works best to adhere the upper wing section (green in this case) first, then add the belly and the two small pieces (yellow neck triangle and small section of his other wing).

I kept it simple and opted for no flowers so that it would fit for a male recipient.

STAMPS: Effortless Beauties (sentiment), Feathered Friends Mini 8 (branch), Loosely Woven (small panel background) - all by Papertrey Ink.

INK: True Black, Dark Chocolate, Weathervane, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado - die inks by Papertrey Ink.

PAPER: Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, White (PTI).

DIES: Border Bling: Dainty Deliveries Frame, Effortless Beauties, Feathered Friends Mini 8, Feathered Friends 13, Love to Layer: Torn Edges - all by Papertrey Ink.

Hope your weekend is going well! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Birthday Balloons

Congrats to the Seize the Birthday challenge blog for reaching their 200th milestone! Check out their blog HERE for details of the celebration (there are prizes!). I was primarily inspired by the balloons and had full intentions to smoosh a group of colors on the background and totally forgot to do that step! DOH! I'll blame it on the distractions of a 6 year old grand-daughter! I also am using the layout for the current Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge.

I die cut the balloons from white card stock then used brushes to color blend the backgrounds. I added some detailing to the flowers with a white gel pen.

STAMPS: Balloon Bouquet (The Greetery).

PAPER: Sweet Blush, Stampers Select White, True Black, Bitty Big: Sweet Blush by Ink to Paper.

INK: True Black, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Pale Peony, Hibiscus Burst, Melon Berry, Green Parakeet, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides by Ink to Paper.

DIES: Big Balloons, Balloon Bouquet, Crimped Frames (The Greetery).

It's a rainy day in VA but it's been fun hanging out with my oldest grand-daughter while her little brother is in Pre-K and this is her "off" day from going to school in person.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday

Haha...I did try stamping on Tuesday - for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge - and this card is the result! Problem is I didn't get around to posting it until Wednesday! I'm in Thanksgiving prep mode with one pie baked and the second in the oven. Cranberry salad is ready in the frig as is the cheese ball. We'll be heading to be with my family in Ohio and I can't wait! Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving and remember that gratefulness and joy is a choice we make daily. Circumstances aren't always joyful but there is still a lot to be thankful for. Sorry...I digress - lol!

Seems like these colors (Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron) keep repeating themselves in my Christmas cards this year! I love creating with snowflakes (dies by WPlus9) and feel the cool colors work well for this theme. The background was splattered and also stamped using the grunge stamp from the Christmas Countdown set by Stampin' Up.  Not only did I think this would be a good set for holiday tags, but I love the variety of background options it gives! Speaking of SU...that corduroy button was purchased from them MANY years ago. I added fine glitter to the snowflakes after I had the card assembled. I found out that's less messy than adding glitter before adhering them.

Time to hit the shower...thanks for stopping by!     ~Wanda

Coral and Red Roses

I created this card for two different challenges: Make My Monday #105 which has a color option this week and also for Try Stampin' on Tuesday which is a sketch challenge.

I wanted to try using my new blending brushes on regular white cardstock after die cutting the layers for these flowers. It made it so easy to blend
colors...especially when adding 3 different colors to the leaves!

It's been awhile since I used the Fantasy Floral Die set from Altenew, but that gorgeous group of florals in the photograph led me straight to these great dies which are easy to assemble!

The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background set.  I accented the black panel with some olive green twine.

It's a perfect day here in VA...sunny but not hot and humid! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!              ~Wanda

I am loving another wide roll of washi tape that I purchased from Altenew! It's called Painted Fantasy and you can check it out HERE. I covered several panels to have them on hand for a quick card. I'm playing along with the sketch that is on the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge blog.

Here's my supply list...

PAPER: Simple Stories "Cozy Christmas"; Pear Pizzazz (SU); White (PTI),
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Stitched Rectangle and Circle STAX Die-Namics by MFT.
OTHER: Wide washi tape (Painted Fantasy) by Altenew.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday

I decided to flip the sketch to a vertical version for the Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge! It gave me a chance to use this new die from Taylored Expressions (Framed Script - Mr & Mrs) to add a wedding card to my stash. The patterned papers are from Prima Marketing's Botanical collection. I used the Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX die by My Favorite Things for the banner element. The embellishments are Brights Candy Dots from Stampin' Up. A very quick and easy card to assemble!

Alcohol Ink Birthday

Our family has a boat load of birthdays this month, so I'm needing to build up my stash! I'm using the sketch for Try Stampin' on Tuesday's current challenge!  I started with another alcohol ink background (yes, I have quite a few from a recent play session) using Copic refills and Pinata Brass metallic mixative (ordered from Amazon).

STAMPS: Whole Shebang (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps), Your Beautiful Birthday (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Yupo by Ranger; White by PTI.
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black; Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise by PTI.
DIES: Scalloped Squares by Reverse Confetti; Stitched Rectangle STAX by My Favorite Things.

The frame, sentiment and cake were all popped up with foam tape.

Twofer Friday

TGIF and I'm off work today! Had some time to play with a new W Plus 9 holiday set, Merry and Bright, for two different challenges:
Try Stampin' On Tuesday - a CAS sketch with an optional twist to use a "give thanks" theme
CAS-ual Fridays - In Stitches (use real or faux stitching)

I used a stitched circle die by Lil' Inker Designs on textured white cardstock.  After stamping two faux washi tape images in Crushed Curry and black, I popped the circle with foam tape.  Then it was floral arranging time!  If you liked the Fresh Cut Florals set by W Plus 9, you will love this set!  Most of the images have two or three step stamping that allows you to layer colors for added dimension.  The matching dies make fussy cutting unnecessary (unless you don't get the hurricane globe centered and then you have to trim it down - lol).  I added some shimmer to the flame and to the flower centers using a clear Wink of Stella shimmer brush pen.  No surprise there as I seem to want to use it on every card I make! :-)  I opted to make a Christmas card instead of Thanksgiving since time is flying by so quickly!

STAMPS: Merry and Bright (W Plus 9), Tape It (SU)
PAPER: White (PTI), Textured white (?)
INK: Crushed Curry, Black, Real Red, Garden Green, Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade, Baked Brown Sugar, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie.

What did I use?
STAMPS: Old Fashioned Florals (Flourishes)

INK: Memento Tuxedo Black

Thanks for stopping by...the washer is on its way.

Rainbow Chevrons

I created this for two different challenges.  One is the SCS Ways to Use It challenge to use a rainbow theme or colors and secondly...for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge which is a new (to me) sketch challenge.  This Paper Smooches images is a fun one to color with Copics (YG11, YG13, YG17, R24, R29).  I added tiny black pearls for his eyes.  The chevron strips were die cut using MFT's chevron Die-Namics.  A really quick and easy CAS card!

STAMPS: A Little Lovin' (Paper Smooches), Sentiment Sampler (Paper Smooches)

Hope Happens

I thought I'd make this a quick card, but it was one of those days when numerous steps just didn't work out and I had to go to plan B!  Had it all completed then said "ick"...I should have used a melon mambo or eggplant ribbon instead...but there was no undoing the foam tape at that point.

I created this for three different challenges:
Color Challenge on SCS - Melon Mambo, Elegant Eggplant, River Rock
Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge - Frame it
Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge - sketch

This is my first time playing along with this sketch challenge, but saw it on a friend's blog and loved it!  I brayered Elegant Eggplant and Melon Mambo ink on the embossing folder, then ran it through my Big Shot.  I die cut a square Nestie inside a Wonky Rectangle Nestie for the frame.  I cut the tulip outline using a cut file on my Silhouette then stamped Flourishes' tulip image from their Tulips for Friends set and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from the Magnolias set - also by Flourishes.  The card base is Elegant Eggplant thought it tends to look black in the photo.

Have to run and get ready for work.  It's infection control committee meeting day and as the employee health nurse, I have to attend.  Thanks for stopping by...
