Happy hump day everyone! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week it's with teal, purple and green. I love this combo and finally narrowed down my options to stenciling these berries and turning it into a thank you card.

Color Throwdown #794

 

Happy Wednesday friends! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge with the delightful woodsy combo of gray, olive and white - thanks to this great personal photo from Amy Rohl. I immediately thought of a leafy background, so that was my starting point.

 

I used W Plus 9's Autumn Leaves stamp set which has both the solid and the outline stamps. I went with distress inks - Crushed Olive, Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke - for everything but the "thankful for" which was stamped using Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink. It's hard to see, but, I used an old retired French Script background stamp and also splattered with Crushed Olive ink. I added a trio of moonshine sequins for embellishments (PTI).

Color Throwdown #684

 

Another week has passed already and it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. Amy Rohl is hosting and has some great colors - mostly neutrals with a pop of yellow - to stimulate your mojo! I had my ink cubes on my desk from a previous project and decided I would go with a contemporary style with swiping the cubes over a panel of Bristol Smooth Surface paper. Our design team's data base lists the colors as black, gray, yellow and tan even though the swatch shows what I call khaki.

I swiped Rocky Slope, Sunshine, Warm Buff, and Licorice dye inks (PinkFresh Studio) then added a bit of Fresh Snow pigment ink from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment is a great die set called Handwritten Thanks by The Stamp Market. I love the font!

Color Throwdown #679

 

Hello everyone! It's hump day and that means a new Color Throwdown challenge is happening. Vickie has chosen some gorgeous colors inspired by the beautiful abstract art photo. I immediately went to my stash of alcohol ink background panels and was happy to find that I already had one in blues and greens! You very rarely see a CAS card in my gallery but this is one. I added die cuts and some rain drop embellishments and this was quickly completed!

I'm also playing along with the theme challenge - love and friendship -

at The Paper Players. 

I adhered two of the sentiment dies together with white card stock then slightly offset another die cut from Luxe Gold.

INK: Alcohol inks + gold fixative.

Color Throwdown #661

 

Hello everyone! It's time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge and this week it's all about neutrals. Amy Rysavy is hosting and has chosen black, gray, cream and kraft. I was initally stumped but then I decided to go with some leafy dies and a bold sentiment.

I used the Large and the Small Marianna Vine Background dies by Poppystamps. The sentiment is one of my faves called Handwritten Thanks by The Stamp Market.

PAPER: True Black, Classic Kraft, Vintage Cream, Weathervane, Soft Stone (Papertrey Ink).

Fusion Card Challenge - Butterfly

Hello friends! It's time again for another Fusion Card Challenge! I used both the sketch and was inspired by the butterfly and the multi-colored background. My background was my first attempt at using a salad spinner with alcohol inks. 

I first learned of this technique through Karen Dunbrook who is a master at creating unique backgrounds! Here is a short video on her blog that demonstrates the process. I definitely need more practice! I found my spinner at Big Lots for $10. Amazon's lowest price was $13 and I wasn't willing to pay quite that much just to sling around some ink - hahaha!

I used glittery washi tape to section off the panel according to the sketch layout. The butterfly is a sticker that has been in my stash for many years. I love the sentiment font and the layered dies that come with it - Handwritten Thanks - by The Stamp Market.

CAS(E) This Sketch

The new CAS(E) This Sketch challenge is a retro sketch (formerly #62). I pulled out some wide washi tape from Altenew which is always a quick and easy option. I added a stitched ric rac border (My Favorite Things) to each side then double layered the YOU die. The rest of the sentiment (You by The Stamp Market) was stamped with Ink to Paper/Papertrey Ink Dark Indigo dye ink. I'm guessing this took me all of 10 minutes to assemble! Easy peasy!

Lots of renovations happening at our place today - inside and out! One bathroom is getting a total gutting and redo and the woodcutter was outside cleaning up some fallen trees from a big storm a couple of years ago. Fusion Card Challenge

We have a thank you theme happening at the new Fusion Card Challenge along with a photo of apple and notebook paper background cookies that inspired me to direct my card to a teacher! 

I opted to not use the sketch this time and went straight to this old paper pack from Recollections that has great school-themed patterns. There is a sweet tiny stamp set from Ink to Paper called Beautiful Bouquet: Teacher. I used one of those sentiment and white embossed it on the smallest of the Charming Tag dies - also from Ink to Paper. I fussy cut the tiny apple after coloring with Tombow markers and adhered it with a tiny library clip. The thank you sentiment (Handwritten Thank You) is a favorite die of mine and is from The Stamp Market.

Fusion Card Challenge

Hard to believe another two weeks has passed by, but it's time again for a new Fusion Card Challenge! You can go with just the hearts theme or you can use the sketch with it as I did and fuse the two together!

This is a simple Valentine that most likely will go to my dad - along with a few sweet goodies - who is in a nursing home. It's difficult for me because he's in another state about 6 1/2 hours away. He's 93 and will be 94 in June and has done very well up until the past year. So hard to watch a parent declining both cognitively and physically.

Pretty Peonies

I will miss using summer colors and flowers in my card creations, though who says you can't use them year round?! I haven't used this Pretty Peonies set from The Stamp Market in a long time and thought they would work well for a tall skinny card which is what Claire is asking us to create for the new Paper Players challenge. I don't know why I don't use this size more often, because I really love the look! Thanks for the push, Claire!

CAS One Layer Card

This week's Paper Players Challenge is to create a one layer wonder...clean and simple card! I guess my brain was still in rainbow mode because I went for my Pelikan watercolor palette (made in Germany) and added 7 colors to a panel of Ranger water color cardstock...drying each color as I added it.  I then splattered some of the paints over the base before adding the die cut "you" and triple stamping the rest of the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink using a MISTI.

Color Throwdown #534

Happy hump day everyone!  You know that means it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and Amy Rohl is our hostess with the following awesome color palette: light blue, orange and brown! I wanted to see how three distress inks in these colors would blend together and decided it was pretty cool and went with it.  I used Tumbled Glass, Spiced Marmalade and Brushed Corduroy distress inks and blended them on PTI white cardstock with Tim Holtz round sponge applicators.  

I made sure the inks were completely dry before rubbing an anti-static pad over it and embossing it with white EP from Altenew.

The stamp is the Ornate Background by Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment is by The Stamp Market. 

I'm also playing along with the Just Us Girls challenge where it's trend week and we are asked to use a background stamp.

CAS(E) This Sketch

I was intrigued by Donna's sketch for the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge and decided to flip it upside down so the circles were at the top of my card. I'll have to confess...I had this card base in my leftover pile for a long time and I just never got around to completing it with a sentiment.  I'm really loving this brushed lettering style font that The Stamp Market used for this recently released thank you die!  It doesn't show well in the photo but I layered a shiny gold die over the white shadow die with the sentiment.

No stamping involved with this easy peasy card! Patterned papers are from the Painted Blooms 6x6" pad by Penny Black.

I wanted to sign off with a photo that crossed my path and I love not only the verse but the gorgeous watercolored scene as well! Hope you have a blessed Monday!
