Color Throwdown 197

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge! 

Aren't these some fabulous colors?!!  Thanks to Joan for being this week's hostess with the mostest!

So, here's what I came up with...

A little BG embossing...bold and beautiful chevron stripes...my fave jute twine...sweet little rolled roses, a kiwi corduroy brad (going to be sad to see my supply come to an end very soon) and this great banner sentiment layered over a houndstooth die!  I just love my corner chomper and couldn't resist chomping away...again - lol!  Did you notice this is challenge #197???  Our 200th challenge is around the corner and there will be lots of goodies given away by the design team, so be sure and keep your eyeballs peeled for the details coming soon!

Let's Get Negative

...with using a negative die cut, that is! I'll have to admit, when I saw Steph's Ways To Use It challenge on SCS, I knew I wanted to CASE Bar Anders' card HERE by using the large leafy flourish Die-Namic from MFT.  I added a Certainly Celery panel to the inside of the card then embellished with some Perfect Plum roses and a Going Gray (with edges sponged with Elegant Eggplant ink) flower.  The sentiment is from the great Flags and Tags stamp set with flag die by 'Lil Inker Designs - totally LOVE that set and keep going to it over and over again!   I used the CAS design for this week's Sketch Challenge on SCS and also used Mona's gorgeous colors for the CR84FN challenge to use lavender, celery and gray.

Monochromatic Lacey Creation

I wasn't planning on getting inky this morning, but when I saw the new Deconstructed Sketch on Jen's blog, I just had to play!  I've also been turning the wheels in my brain to come up with a creative way to use lace for the Moxie Fab World's Doilies and Lace Challenge.

OK...so this might not bring thunderous applause, but it's a tiny bit creative, don't ya think?  I cut out one of the flower motifs from this gorgeous imported lace from Flourishes and glued it over a kraft corduroy button brad.  The background panel is Vintage Cream CS embossed with a folder that was inked using Antique Linen distress ink before running it through the Big Shot.  I love this new shabby chic fabric flower that came with some happy mail yesterday from the Funkie Junkie!

Raise the Bar 101

Hi everyone! Can you believe it's Friday already?  April is slipping by entirely too quickly! It's time for another Raise the Bar Challenge and Joni has us in the clouds today - lol! Our mission: create a card using clouds on it somewhere. CAS is not something that comes easy for me, but I decided to go that route and went with 'Lil Inker Designs' rainbow and clouds dies.  The sentiment is also from that company...love the great font!  So, what are you waiting for?  Come on and join us in this fun challenge!  See what the other bartenders have created by checking them out HERE!

Chocolates & Roses

Good Friday to all and welcome to another Raise the Bar Challenge! This week it's a color challenge with a chocolates and roses theme...thus...the call to use reds and browns! I am not happy with my coloring of this image (from Flourishes' Lenten Rose set) and am so anxious to attend Debbie Olsen's standard Copic certification class next week in Richmond, because I really need some directions from a pro!  I used my circle cutting system from Creative Memories for the image panel, then layered it on a Nestie cut circle of Riding Hood Red CS.  The weathered wood BG was created by scoring every inch then swiping Vintage Photo and Fired Brick distress inks on top.  I only wanted a hint of the red, so a very light hand was used with that pad.  I really LOVE the new Flags and Tags Stamps that Laura Pryor has released at Lil' Inker Designs!  Tons of sentiments that fit perfectly on this banner die.  That's it from me...hope you can take some time to see what the other bartenders have created and leave some love on their blogs:

Color Throwdown #171

I'm excited to be able to host for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge! Many of us are still in the Christmas creating mode, so I thought I'd go with some vintage, earthy colors that could work for Christmas, if needed, or for a variety of other themes as well.I was inspired by the papers in the Lost & Found Christmas pad my My Mind's Eye and used 3 different papers to create this package tag/ornament. I sponged a little Versamark ink on the edges of the poinsettia and added Queen's Gold EP by Ranger. I added 3 small glitter adhesive dots to the flower center. So...what are you waiting for? Color Throwdown 170

Wow...where did November go?! It's the last day of the month and it's Wednesday, so that's the cue to see what colors are on board for the Color Throwdown Challenge! Lynn has some great colors for us...perfect for another Christmas card. I used Tosh's Viva la Verve sketch from week 3 for my layout. I wanted to initiate some new goodies from Lil' Inker Designs and am loving this sweet chubby tree die as well as the holly/berries dies! I added Stickles to the tree and Crystal Effects to the berries. Be sure and check out the creations of the rest of the design team!

Pinwheel for the CC

I'm finally getting to play for the Color Challenge on SCS where Betty has given us some delightful colors this week: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Black, Ivory or White with a dessert option to add sparkle and shine. As you can see, I declined dessert! Wish that were true IRL - lol! I embossed the kraft panel with a new butterfly EF by Sizzix...hard to see it in the photo. The leaves are die cut using Spellbinders' Foliage Shapeabilities. The pinwheel flower was die cut using Laura Pryor's new die at Lil' Inker Designs. The coordinating sentiment is also from her company. We've been without power most of the morning, so it was interesting making this card in semi-darkness as there are no windows in my craft room...only the sunlight that came through the doorway. You Mean the Whirl to Me

This is my first attempt at making a pinwheel...the newest craze in papercrafting! It was so easy using Lil' Inker Design's die (which is currently sold out but due to be back in stock within a couple of days). The colors were inspired by this photo from the Play Date Cafe Challenge. The layout is for the Card Patterns Weekly Sketch Challenge.
