Majestic Peacock

 

 

Good Thursday morning! I have some new goodies from Creative Worship Stamps and had so much fun creating this card! If you follow Korin on FB (she's the owner of CWS), then you know all about Roger...a wandering peacock who made himself at home at her house. He was never claimed by anyone and now he has more company after Dan and Korin bought 4 "babies". It was only a matter of time that we would see a peacock stamp collection (with dies and stencils also)! :-)

I stenciled the background with distress inks. The image was colored with Copics. The border is from an old retired set called Peacock Pretties by Reverse Confetti - a discontinued company. I die cut and layered two of the crimped frames to give more dimension.

Freshly Made Sketches

 

It's hump day already and time for a new Freshly Made Sketches ahand Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where we are to use patterned paper.  I used a scalloped arch die in place of the rectangle. I got carried away with the florals and should have stopped before I added top left corner sprigs. CAS is always a real challenge for me! :-/

Inspiration Station Challenge

 

It's a chilly Tuesday morning and I wanted to post a Halloween card I created yesterday for the Inspiration Station Challenge. The prompt photo inspired me to use a much older stamp/die set from My Favorite Things called Primitive Pumpkins.

INKS: Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.

DIES: Primitive Pumpkins (MFT); Crimped Frames (The Greetery).

Poinsettia Tag

 

I am finally getting around to using this new stamp/die set from Creative Worship Stamps! I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge to "tag it". I stamped the images then embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder. I lightly color blended around the edges with Peeled Paint distress ink. I had a coloring goof with the lower petal of the poinsettia but still went with it. :-/

Word Art Wednesday - 9/30

 

Welcome to our last Word Art Wednesday challenge in September! Our verse is from Roman's 4:7. Paul is quoting from King David, a hero of the people of Israel. His purpose is to show that Old Testament Scriptures have always pointed to faith—not good works or deeds—as the path to being declared righteous by God as his gift to those who believe.             

 

 

I created this 5"x7" card size so I could include the two sunflowers from Papertrey Ink's die set. AND... I totally forgot our sponsor is Creative Worship Stamps so, I made another card using their products. The florals were die cut from Bristol Smooth Surface paper and color blended with brushes. I splattered with gold paint. 

INK: Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink).

The background panel was in my leftover pile and was spritzed with distress inks then splattered with white paint. The daisy was a printable from CWS. The full verse is on the inside.

Christmas in September

 

Concord & 9th is the featured company for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to create a Christmas in September project. Of course, I had to go with Kristina Werner's products - always a fave! 

I highlighted the berries with Scarlet Jewel ink to give them a more natural look. I wanted a small "Christmas" word so went with a portion of a Merry Christmas stamp from The Greetery.

Freshly Made Sketches

 

It's that time of the year when I begin to build up my Christmas stash! The Freshly Made Sketches layout was perfect to pull out some older dies and create a "tree" for the holidays. I started with a very old pack of Christmas patterned papers by Recollections. This is pretty self-explanatory so, I will get to the list of what I used.

Bible Journaling

 

More Bible journaling using stamps/dies/stencils from Creative Worship Stamps: Loaves & Fishes stamp & die set, Under the Sea stencil. Images were colored using Prismacolor pencils.

 

Bible Journaling

A quick post on this very dreary, rainy day! The whole week is much cooler and pretty much forecasting rain daily until the weekend. I haven't done any Bible journaling in quite awhile, so thought I should try some new elements from Creative Worship Stamps. I went with the new Leaf Fronds stencil and added some scattered florals using the Petals & Dots stencil. I hand lettered the sentiment.

For this page, I stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black then colored with Prismacolor pencils. I used the Patient Echinacea stamp set and the new Denim Texture stencil from CWS.

Echinacea

 

Good Monday evening! I finished this card this afternoon for three different challenges:
1. Cupcake Inspiration #641 - magenta, pistachio, turquoise

2. Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #700

3. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - make your own background. 

 

 

Out of my large stash of inks, I could not find a good color for "magenta", so I combined a blend of Dusty Concord and Picked Raspberry distress inks. I stamped the florals with Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink then clear embossed. The coloring was done by pouncing distress inks onto an acrylic block, spritzing lightly with water then applying with an aqua painter brush.

 

I experimented with some distress spray stains on Bristol Smooth Surface paper using Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Wilted Violet. I used these same colors with two stencils from Creative Worship Stamps: Leaf Fronds and Speckled. The frame and flower were popped up using foam tape.

After stamping the images with Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink on X-Press It Blending Card, I clear embossed to make it easier to color with Copics. 

The glare from the embossing is always difficult to photograph. I stenciled dots on the kraft base and after an ink malfunction in the top left corner, I opted to camouflage it with a corner punch! :-/

Word Art Wednesday 9/16

 

Hello and welcome to a new Word Art Wednesday challenge! Karen has chosen Proverbs 19:17. I was a rebel once again and rewrote the verse in a Word document using NIV translation. I personally find it easier to understand as compared to the "old language". Gina K Designs is sponsoring this challenge with a $25 gift card up for one lucky participant! PTI September Inspiration Challenge

 

There is a monthly Papertrey Ink Inspiration Challenge and for September, we have these colors to work with: Sweet Blush, Harvest Gold and Orange Zest. I started with the pumpkin dies then arranged a collage of leaves around it. It's really dry in VA and the leaves are falling rather early this year. Guess that inspired me to use leaf images!

Bold Fishes

I started with a bold, ink blended colored background from my leftover pile and added a trio of the folk art style fish from the Loaves & Fishes stamp set by Creative Worship Stamps. I layered it over a background using two newly released stencils - Denim Texture and Speckled - also by CWS. The sentiment is from a mini stamp set -Salt Air Sentiments- from Papertrey Ink.

I'm entering this into the Just Us Girls challenge where it's "word week" and the word is "BOLD". The fish were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink then I added some tiny "bubble" embellishments.
