Saying Goodbye to SFYTT

Sadly, this is the last Sketch For You To Try challenge according to Jen's post yesterday on the Reverse Confetti blog, but we can expect other new things coming up soon! I knew I wanted to play along for sure and will miss this challenge that always posted on the first day of the month for the past 5 years!  I decided to use my favorite neutral cardstock by RC: Stone!  I paired it with this patterned paper from RC's Pattern Play 6x6 pad.

 

I thought the Sand Dollar die would be a good focal point, so I sponged the edges lightly with Stone dye ink.  I added the sentiment from RC's Hello and Thanks Label die set and also used parts of the All Framed Up die set. A really quick and easy card to complete!

Sketch For You To Try

Hello everyone! March sure did make a blustery, windy and cold entrance this year!  I'm just very thankful we never lost power and none of our huge oak trees that surround our property came crashing down!  Many in VA lost power, but thankfully ours went uninterrupted. Enough of the weather and on to happier subjects like the new sketch on the Reverse Confetti blog!  The Sketch For You To Try challenge is always one of my favorites and this layout was perfect to create a card for a fellow stamper's MIL who is celebrating her 100th birthday later in the month!  Dawn Lusk is asking the stamping community to send her MIL a birthday card, so I will share the address in case you would want to share some kindness!  Jane Lusk, 74 Claiborne Way, Apt. MC1, Starkville, MS  39759.  Here's the card I created...

I colored the florals using Zig Clean Color brush markers and blended with an Aquapainter.

SFYTT

Have you played along with Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try challenge for February yet? If not, you still have time! I never seem to have enough birthday cards in my stash, so it was a perfect layout to use the Congratulations stamp set with matching Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti's January release!  The sentiment is from their Simply Sentiments set...a wonderful set of sentiments that covers many occasions!

 

I wanted the three squares in the sketch to mimic the wonky

squares in the designer paper, so I randomly angled the cuts on several of the sides.  I used Navy Blue, Stone and Coral cardstock that matched the background paper from Reverse Confetti's Forever My Love 6x6 pad.  The balloon inks are Navy Blue, Seafoam and Coral by RC. Check out the color chart that Jen recently revised so you can see all of the RC inks in a glance! Colors with asterisks have coordinating card stock. We would love to see how YOU interpret this sketch, so hope you'll join us before this short month flies on by!

RC Sketch For You To Try

I'm sharing a card I created using the great new layout for Reverse Confetti's January Sketch For You To Try challenge!  

Here is my take on it using the new Something Wonderful  stamp set with coordinating Confetti Cuts.

One of my fave techniques with this silhouette floral stamp is to add ink directly to the stamp using distress markers (Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss), "huffing" over the stamp to re-moisten the ink, then stamping on CS.   I'm really loving this font on all the sentiments in this stamp set!

SFYTT Christmas

Most of my Christmas cards have been mailed, but I still keep thinking of persons that I want to send to! This card uses very non-traditional colors...starting with patterned papers from Reverse

Confetti's Pattern Play 6x6 pad. Jen Del Muro (RC owner/designer) lost her father earlier this year so the holidays will be especially tough for her mother. She asked friends to send a card to her mom to help brighten her days. This card will be heading her way!  No matter what sorrow we have to face, God will never leave our side, so what better Christmas sentiment that this one which reminds us to adore Him!  

I used the layout for Reverse Confetti's December Sketch For You To Try challenge.

Monsterous Creation

I needed one more Halloween card for the grands, so went with the current Sketch For You To Tty layout and to Reverse Confetti's adorable Monsterous stamp set with matching dies! They are so much fun to color with Copics and the Crystal Effects added to their eyeballs is the perfect fun touch!  Papers are from  RC's Fright Night 6x6 pad and I'm using their Grape Soda, Tangerine and Lime Green cardstock.

Now I just need to get these cards ready to mail and hopefully bring a smile to some sweet little munchkins!

Sketch For You To Try

The new sketch for Reverse Confetti's October Sketch For You To Try was perfect for me to finally ink up one of the adorable monsters in their Monsterous stamp set! I colored with Copics then die cut with the matching die.  The eyes were highlighted with Glossy Accents.

Sketch For You To Try

The new Sketch For You To Try Challenge for September over on the Reverse Confetti blog was a perfect layout to get a birthday card done for another little one in the family!  I love this fun Reverse Confetti stamp set - Lift Me Up - with matching dies!  Fun to color and can be used for a variety of occasions!  The happy patterned papers come from Bo Bunny's Surprise 6x6 pad.  The images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending Card - my favorite cardstock for Copic coloring. I used several different dies by Reverse Confetti: Lift Me Up, Lacy Scallop Frame, Lacy Scallop Circles and Edge Essentials.

Sketch For You To Try

The August sketch for Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try challenge was perfect to color up this sweet image from their Lift Me Up stamp set!  I colored with Copics and layered it over a Lacy Scalloped Circle die.  The horizontal element - stamped in Lime Green dye ink by RC - is a border from RC's Elemental Stripes set.  I punched out circles from one of the patterned paper designs from RC's Pattern Play 6x6 pad.  Flat black enamel dots were added to the centers.  I subbed a Pierced Round Top Layer die instead of the rectangle element.

SFYTT for July

This month is flying by and I still hadn't played with Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try challenge, so it was time to remedy that situation!  I was going to stay totally monochromatic and create a beachy themed card for a neighbor who waters our plants while we are on vacation.  At the last minute, I thought it needed a pop of color, so added some florals.   Here is what I used...

PAPER: Free Spirit 6x6 pad and Stone CS by Reverse Confetti; Black Licorice (MFT); White (PTI); X-Press It Blending Card.
INK: Versamark; Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Sand dollar, Build a Bunch, Pierced Round Top Layers - all by Reverse Confetti; Stitched diagonal strip by Lil' Inker Designs.

The florals were colored with Copics, die cut, then several flowers were popped with foam dots.  I used a stipple tool to add some Lead ink (RC) to the edges of the sand dollar.  

Years ago, we visited friends at a beach cottage in Swansboro, NC and took the owner's small boat to a tiny island called Sand Dollar Hill.  There were oodles of sand dollars everywhere and I remember being so surprised that their color is not initially white like you see in the souvenir shops - lol!  Instead, it's a dirty brownish/gray color that is bleached out later by collectors.  I also always loved the legend of the sand dollar and thought I'd share it with you here.
