PTI May Release Day 1

It's hard to believe it's time again for a new release from Papertrey Ink! Seems like we just had one. There are some really fun new things with items to create for summer! Today we are introducing you to Adorable Outfits stamps and dies + Adorable Outfits stencils + Little One stamps and dies + Night Sky Background Stencils + Border Bling: Skinny Star Frames dies. I really needed to ramp up my stash for making baby cards and this is the perfect assortment to get that done!
My first card started with stenciling some clouds for the background using Aqua Mist ink. I then inked up an ombre rainbow with Sweet Blush, Pale Peony and Berry Sorbet inks. The tiny stars were accented with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen for some added sparkle.

I added only one side of the larger Skinny Star frame and lined it with black paper to tie it in with the sentiment color. The clouds and rainbow were all popped with foam tape for added dimension.

STAMPS: Little One
INK: Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, True Black
PAPER: Bitty Big: Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet (inside), White, True Black
DIES: Little One, Mix & Mat: Snowflakes, Border Bling: Skinny Star
OTHER: Clear Star Gelly Roll pen

My next card started with created a patterned background of rainbows using a stencil with Sweet Blush, Lemon Tart and Vintage Jadeite inks. I die cut with the Border Bling: Tin Stitch die which is my go-to for texture frames.

The backgrounds on both onesies were stenciled. I wanted to add a pleated "tutu" to the pink one, so I took 1/2" tulle ribbon with flocked polka dots and pleated it over 1/4" score tape. Some narrow satin ribbon was then glued along the top of the pleats.

I decided to stamp the sentiment onto a small envelope die from the With Love stamp set. I took a yellow Prismacolor pencil to highlight the folds and sponged the edges with yellow ink.

STAMPS: Adorable Outfits
INK: Lemon Tart, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Vintage Jadeite, Limeade Ice, Green Parakeet, True Black
PAPER: White
DIES: Adorable Outfits, With Love, Shape Shifters: Oval 2, Border Bling: Tin Stitch
OTHER: Adorable Outfits Stencils, Tulle ribbon, 1/8" satin ribbon

That's it for the first day of reveals! See you back tomorrow for more new posts!  ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge - At the Movies

It's time again for another Fusion Card Challenge! I used the sketch (in a flipped version) and was inspired by the movie theme of the photo. I went wayyy back into my stamping stash to when I was a guest designer for The Cat's Pajamas in January 2016. I used their stamp set "Just Let It Happen" and paired it with a brass filmstrip stencil.

I colored the image with Copics and highlighted the necklace with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. The popcorn was highlighted with a white Gelly Roll pen.

COPICS: R24, R27, R29, R20, YR0000, Y13, Y19.
STAMPS: Just Let It Happen (The Cat's Pajamas).
INK: Amalgam Ink by Gina K Designs.

Color Throwdown #692

Happy hump day crafty friends! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and the colors are pink, lavender and gold. I not only went with the colors, but was inspired by the photo to use this awesome butterfly from Papertrey Ink's Flying By stamp set. I heat embossed in gold then added distress ink colors: Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord.

I smooshed the distress inks onto watercolor paper for the base layer behind the Cover Plate: Decorative Circles. I then layered the largest frame die from the Pierced Feature Frames die set. The card base is Lilac Grace card stock (all products from Papertrey Ink).

We would love to have you play along in the challenge! Hope to see you in the gallery...Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

The Great Cover Up

I'm on the Papertrey Ink blog today for the newest Great Cover-Up challenge! We are highlighting black and white with a pop of color so you know I didn't blink before choosing the newest Into the Bloom set of tulip dies.

Here is the process for creating my card...

I have a really large scrap/leftover pile and I try to whittle it down each time I create. I chose three different black and white patterned papers and added a trio of blocks to cover the background.

The tulip dies can be somewhat overwhelming until you organize them into rows with the pieces lined up in the order of assembly. Call me OCD but this step is really helpful!

I like to cut out all my floral pieces from white card stock (Bristol Smooth Surface is my choice when I’m going to color blend). I use blending brushes combined with sponge daubers to add a touch of color to a small area. I added a hint of Pale Peony and Summer Sunrise inks to give more depth to some of the petals. I used New Leaf and Ripe Avocado for the leaves and highlighted with some Lemon Tart ink. If you examine leaves in real life, you will often find a yellowish hint with the greens.

Now it’s time for arranging the florals!

Next comes the finishing touches: a white embossed sentiment tag with brad and twine and rain drop embellishments. Popping up some of the tulip petals and the sentiment tag also adds depth and dimension.

Here are some views of the completed card...

We would love to have you play along in the challenge. Just link up your entry on the Papertrey Ink blog! Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

I CASEd a card I created in July of 2019 and switched up the layout and some of the dies.
