Thankful Leaves

While it's cloudy and raining lightly, I'm thankful all the scary hype about former Hurricane Laura (now a tropical storm) going over all of VA was in error! The possible tornadoes and up to 2 inches of rain don't appear to be a threat. It's a good day to get crafty and I wanted to play with the Lovely Leaves set from Papertrey Ink/Ink to Paper. I used LOTS of distress ink colors and blended them over each of the leaf images.

I had the card base completed for the previous month's ITP release and never used it. That made this card so easy to complete because all I did was arrange the leaves and add the sentiment!

STAMPS: Lovely Leaves, Framing Fall Sentiments (Ink to Paper).

PAPER: Kraft, Soft Stone, Stampers Select White, Rustic Cream.

INK: Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door, Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive, Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Fossalized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Iced Spruce, Speckled Egg, Shabby Shutters - distress inks by Ranger.

DIES: Lovely Leaves, Framing Fall Sentiments, Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border (Ink to Paper); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

That's it for now folks! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Color Throwdown #608

Hard to believe it's Wednesday again but that means it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. Lynn is hosting and has chosen such pretty colors! They reminded me of a floral bouquet even before I saw the photo and since I needed 3 sympathy cards last week, I decided to go with the In Bloom dies from Ink to Paper. I brushed some colors on the edges of the petals and just randomly added them over the Border Bling: Grateful Vine cut from kraft card stock.

STAMPS: Wild Fields (Ink to Paper).

INK: Melon Berry, Lovely Lady, Canyon Clay, Harvest Gold, Pure Black (dye inks by Ink to Paper).

PAPER: Classic Kraft, Stamper's Select White (Ink to Paper).

DIES: Border Bling: Grateful Vine, Into the Blooms, Banner Builders: Basics (Ink to Paper).

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see your creation in the CTD gallery!                   Happy stamping!   ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge

I was primarily inspired by the vivid colors in the Fusion Card Challenge photo and went with a different flying critter since I couldn't find a dragonfly in my stash. I also did a vertical version of the sketch.

I already had the alcohol ink background completed several months ago, so I only added the pierced circle portion of the Ink to Paper's Love to Layer: Floral Fusion die. The sentiment and bird are from the Feathered Friends Mini 2 stamp set with matching die - also from Ink to Paper.

So...we'd love to see how you interpret just the sketch, just the photo or a fusion of both! It's your choice!

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge! Lori is our hostess this week and has chosen blue, purple and yellow based on this inspiration photo of some yummy summertime treats!

My birthday card stash is really low, so I went with these fun pinwheel stencils and crepe banner dies to create my card.

PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Amethyst Allure, Enchanted Evening, Bright Buttercup, Blueberry Sky, Matte Silver.

INK: Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Amethyst Allure dye inks by Ink to Paper; Wilted Violet distress ink.

DIES: Pinwheel Party, Twisted Crepe (The Greetery).

That's it for now. Hope you will find some time to play along with us!                                                      Happy stamping!     ~Wanda

My Heart is With You

I've got a quick post to show you another sympathy card I created using the Wild Fields set by Ink to Paper. I just love the wispy feel of these flowers!
You can barely see the layer of yellow polka dots behind the popped up frame, but it's there. I stamped the Nifty Plaid background with Soft Stone ink and the frame was die cut from the same color of card stock. Some of the flowers and the center stem were also popped up with foam tape.
STAMPS: Wild Fields, Nifty Plaid (Ink to Paper).
INK: Soft Stone, Pure Black, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Winter Wisteria, Amethyst Allure, Spring Moss, Ocean Tides.
PAPER: Bitty Big: Harvest Gold patterned paper, Soft Stone, Stamper's Select White (Ink to Paper).
DIES: Banner Builders: Basics, Wild Fields, Border Bling: Skinny Vees Frame (Ink to Paper).

Thanks so much for stopping by! My sister-in-law and I are taking the supper meal to the extended family of a lady who passed away over the weekend. She was a dear, sweet person who attended our church and made the best pecan pie ever! I know she is taking a pie to the Lord's banquet table - lol! While it's very sad, it's also a time to rejoice that she is no longer suffering from her pain and nausea as a result of metastatic ovarian cancer. She was so positive and ready to go and would tell others she had lived 88 years and had a good life and she was ready to dance with Jesus! Rest in peace, Lorene!

Birthday Truck

I needed a card for a man in our church congregation who turned 80 last week. This large truck die from Spellbinders (large die of the month October 2018) was my go to for a masculine card. No stamping involved! Only dies and patterned paper from BoBunny's Surprise collection.

Thanks for stopping by...this was a quick post!        ~Wanda

Ink to Paper Release Day

Release day is here! Tonight at 10:00 PM ET the store will be open for you to purchase the August release products at Ink to Paper!

I have a clean and simple card to share which was very quick and easy to create! I adhered three strips of card stock - White, Orange Zest and Bright Buttercup - to a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white card stock. I then folded some copy paper of the same size in half and simply cut a candy corn shape without any pattern, traced lightly around the shape with a pencil, then fussy cut.

To get the card shape to stand up, you need to cut a second white

shaped piece then score about an inch from the top to act as a hinge.

STAMPS: Scaredy Cat

INK: New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Pure Black.

PAPER: White, Bright Buttercup, Orange Zest.

DIES: Scaredy Cat, Border Bling: Grateful Vine

That's it for now. Hope you were inspired to go shopping and get ready for the fall season of papercrafting!                     ~Wanda

Ink to Paper August Release Countdown Day #4

Welcome back to day #4 of the Ink to Paper countdown for the August release! I hope you're as excited to play with these new fall products as much as I am! Today we are introducing Shutter It Stamp Set/Dies + In Stitches: Acorn Die + Inside Greetings: Grateful Stamp Set. I have a long post so let's get on with the show!

This is a unique interactive card that allows you to open and close the shutters to reveal the sentiment inside. There are instructions available for assembly which I needed for my technically challenged brain - lol!

The smallest flower pot comes with this set, but I wanted to add a couple more pots from the Growth set that was released in July. I stenciled Classic Kraft ink with a brick stencil for the background.

STAMPS: Shutter It Sentiments, Growth
INK: Pure Black, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Classic Kraft, Green Parakeet, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado
PAPER: Rustic Cream, Classic Kraft, True Black
DIES: Shutter It dies, Growth

I wanted to experiment with using two layers of card stock for the shutters and the brackets on another card and this is the result. I'm voting for this option because it was much easier to slide the shutters open and closed!

STAMPS: Shutter It Sentiments
INK: Pure Black, Prairie Grass, Olive Twist
PAPER: Patterned textured paper, Soft Stone, Pure Black, Prairie Grass
DIES: Border Bling:Grateful Vine, Shutter It dies

One of my favorite items in this release is this stitched acorn die! It's great for a card focal point and it makes a cute felt project as well! It also reminded me of an old saying that always makes me chuckle: " The mighty oak was once a nut that held its ground".

I created an ornament and cut two of each die piece. On the front side, I stitched the large cross stitched pattern then added a running stitch to both sides using DMC embroidery thread #301 (I used all 6 strands to give it more definition). I glued some satin ribbon between the layers and added a yarn flower embellishment that I've had in my stash for years.

I'm planning to add some essential oils to the flower center (can you smell the orange, cinnamon and nutmeg?) and will hang the ornament either on my car vent or in my craft room. This would make a fun gift for a friend as well!

Next is a card that uses some contemporary fall colors and I really love how this turned out! Lots of texture makes me happy (burlap, twine, embossed frame, splattered backgrounds, layering with foam tape, etc.)!

I used the Nifty Plaid background stamp on the Honey Nut "cap" of

the acorn then stamped the Loosely Woven background stamp with Enchanted Evening ink on Rustic Cream card stock. TIP: I like to trace around the acorn and layer a contrasting backing so all of the holes have a consistent color. The sentiment was die cut twice to give it more dimension.

To the right is the inside of the card.

STAMPS: Nifty Plaid, Loosely Woven, Framing Fall (acorn on inside)
INK: Honey Nut, Enchanted Evening
PAPER: Rustic Cream, Enchanted Evening, Honey Nut, Ripe Avocado
DIES: In Stitches: Acorn, Border Bling: Grateful Vine (sentiment), Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border, Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Floral Delicacies
OTHER: Jute twine, Burlap, Copic Opaque White

Here is a second card using this die as a focal point!

I love a bit of whimsy that comes when you paper piece patterned paper on a project! I used some vintage, weathered-looking paper and paired it with an embossed chevron pattern. The leafy frame was inlaid with leaves in Rustic Cream and Honey Nut card stock on a Pure Black frame. Some shiny, glittery copper twine topped it off!

The pine cones and greenery were fussy cut and tucked into the corners (images are from the Framing Fall and Framing Fall Sentiments stamp sets).

STAMPS: Framing Fall, Framing Fall Sentiments
INK: True Black, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean
PAPER: Textured paper, Honey Nut, True Black, Rustic Cream
DIES: In Stitches: Acorn, Framing Fall Sentiments, Border Bling: Leaves
OTHER: Copper metallic twine

Ink to Paper August Release Countdown Day #3

It's day three of reveals for the August release at Ink to Paper! Today we are introducing Ravishing Ranunculus Stamp Set/Dies + Clearly in the Vase Stamp Set/Dies + Cover Plate: Trellis Die + Feathered Friends Mini 3 Stamp Set/Die. Flowers and birds always make me happy and I hope you will be inspired as well!

I color blended the vase lightly with Aqua Mist ink. I thought the little pop of yellow with the bees and honeycomb was a sweet touch to the sentiment tag.

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 3 (sentiment), Ravishing Ranunculus, Clearly In the Vase, Bee-utiful
INK: Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, True Black, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Aqua Mist, Lovely Lady, Pale Peony, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet
PAPER: Bitty Big: Green Parakeet, White
DIES: Ravishing Ranunculus, Clearly in the Vase, Bee-utiful, Charming Tag
OTHER: Jute twine

I created the background by swiping three different ink cubes over white card stock (an easy and fun technique!). I then used spray adhesive to adhere the beautiful but delicate new trellis cover plate. I coordinated the background colors with my inks for the bird.

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 3
INK: Spring Moss, Tropical Teal, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Canyon Clay, Ripe Avocado, True Black, Vintage Jadeite
PAPER: White, Ripe Avocado
DIES: Feathered Friends Mini 3, Cover Plate: Trellis, Floral Delicacies, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles
OTHER: Copic Opaque White, Twine
