Word Art Wednesday

I was blessed by the devotional for the new Word Art Wednesday challenge today! It centers around II Corinthians 1:3-4 and speaks of God's comfort during trials and tribulations. We were also challenged to comfort others who might need this blessing which, in turn, gives God the praise! He is most definitely the "God of all comfort" which is also reflected in this verse from Psalm 94:19 - a stamp available in the Psalm Reflections series through Papertrey Ink.

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: March (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed distress inks (Ranger); New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse dye inks (PTI); White Gouache paint; Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment.

DIES: Border Bling: Lattice, Psalm Reflections: October (corner leaves), Psalm Reflections: March (joy), Into the Blooms: Dahlia, Love to Layer: Lovely Bracket - all by Papertrey Ink.

PTL for my husband being discharged home tomorrow from inpatient rehabilitation following hospitalization for stem cell transplant! He had a significant setback requiring two days in ICU but God answered prayers and he recovered from the serious bump in the road! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the prayers!  ~Wanda

The Paper Players

Jaydee has some awesome colors for The Paper Players challenge this week! I had to sneak a few green leaves in there but the primary colors are red, gray, black and white.

I love theses dies from the Into the Blooms: Poppies set by Papertrey Ink and thought they would work well with these colors.

I die cut all the pieces then colored them using a variety of distress inks. After dry, I splattered with darker shades and/or water to give it a mottled look.

It's a sunny Saturday and we are STILL needing a good rain! We got a few sprinkles yesterday but that was all. Looks like lots of hand carried watering is in my forecast!

I wanted to play along with the new Inspired By...Challenge with a seashell theme. I love this Summer Shells die set from Papertrey Ink and went to town.

I used a variety of distress inks then sprayed with Sheer Shimmer "Sparkle" craft spray (which doesn't show up in photos). I first stenciled the Aqua Mist using the Watercolor Wonderful stencil by Papertrey Ink. I embellished with dew drops and popped the sentiment with foam tape for some added dimension.

DIES: Cover Plate: Quilted, Cover Plate: Butterfly Hope (Papertrey Ink).

The second card uses Mustard Seed, Crushed Olive, and Mowed Lawn distress inks.

Word Art Wednesday Challenge

Good Wednesday friends! It's really hot and humid here in the Shenandoah Valley of VA (temp feels like it's 100 per weather report), so I'm staying cool in my craft room. I see those weeds that seem to thrive even in our drought conditions but, I simply cannot de-weed in this heat!

I wanted to thank Karen Letchworth for leaving such kind comments on a recent card. It's been a LONG time since I played with the Word Art Wednesday challenge, but her invitation spurred me to take a look. I've been going through a very difficult time with some difficult challenges as my husband fights a multiple myeloma diagnosis. He's had some very scary complications, but his stem cell transplant is done and his lab values are slowly but surely climbing up to normal range. He's currently in an inpatient rehab facility to strengthen up prior to discharge home. We are hoping that's soon!

The challenge devotional and scripture from Psalm 31 was very timely for me and I knew I wanted to use a stamp from Papertrey Ink from their Psalm series.   I had this background in my leftover stash so this was quick to assemble after die cutting and color blending some flowers from PTI's Into the Blooms: Wreath set.

Creating a sunburst background is such a great way to use up leftover patterned paper scraps. I cut rectangle strips that were 1 1/4" wide by at least 5 1/2" long. I then cut from corner to opposite corner to turn it into 2 elongated triangles. Easy peasy!

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: February (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke distress inks by Ranger; Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink.
PAPER: Stampers Select White, patterned paper.
DIES: Psalm Reflections: February, Into the Blooms: Wreath (PTI).

Hope you have a blessed day!   ~Wanda

The palms were blended with Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire distress inks and the large monstera leaves were blended with Rusty Hinge, Brushed Corduroy and Scattered Straw distress inks.

STAMPS: Written in Ribbons (The Greetery).
