Color Throwdown #826

 

Welcome to another Color Throwdown challenge! It's the month of love so I decided to get busy and create a Valentine card. Our colors for this first Wednesday of February are pink, brown and white. I pulled an old chrysanthemum die from Hero Arts and color blended with 2 shades of pink.  

I color blended the leaves using 3 shades of brown. Splatters were done using Ground Espresso distress ink.

INK: Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne; Ground Espresso distress.

PAPER: Stampers Select White, Dark Chocolate (PTI).

SSS Wednesday Challenge

The new Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is happening and they are asking us to create a CAS design. Hero Arts is the sponsor and I have very few products from that company. I went with an old chrysanthemum die and layered it over a color blended background.  

The hello sentiment from Papertrey Ink was die cut twice to add more dimension.

Freshly Made Sketches

Amy has a great new sketch over on the Freshly Made Sketches blog! I thought I'd go with a beachy theme since our family beach vacation is coming up in a few weeks. I already had extra images stamped and die cut, so this fell together very quickly.

STAMPS: Salt Air: Flora and Fauna by Papertrey Ink; Color Layering Waves by Hero Arts (sentiment).

Because I had stamped the images many weeks ago, I don't recall what inks I used. Striped paper is from MFT's Black and White Basics 6x6" pad. The rectangle is Pool Party by SU.

Keep It Simple

There's a great new simple sketch at Sunday Stamps! I had an extra alcohol ink panel from a previous project and had an extra floral die already cut out so this card took about 10 minutes max to throw together! I only had to cut out two sentiment dies (Early Espresso by SU) to adhere together and then assembled the panel to a Pink Pirouette (SU) card base. As you can see, I flipped it to a vertical A2 layout.

I used E57 and RV11 Copic refills along with Pinata Brass mixative for the alcohol ink panel.

In case you haven't heard...it's a boy! Harry and Megan finally had their royal baby this morning, so now we can hear news other than the controversial Kentucky Derby final call - lol!

Oceans of Joy

 While it was snowing up a storm yesterday afternoon, I was creating this beachy keen card for The Card Concept challenge and for CAS(E) This Sketch challenge!  I'll have to admit, those triangles stumped me a bit, so I went with a smaller triangle collage in the background using an image from WPlus9's Just Geometrics: Triangles stamp set. All of the ink colors were distress oxide inks.

What did I use? 

STAMPS: Color Layering Seahorse (Hero Arts); Just Geometrics: Triangles (WPlus9).
PAPER: X-Press It Blending Card.
INK: Tumbled Glass Antique Linen, Abandoned Coral, Frayed Burlap, Tea Dye, Walnut Stain - all distress oxide inks by Ranger.
OTHER: Dew drop embellishments; Watercolor Stripes stencil by Altenew.

More DTGD Cards

I'm not going to be able to get all of the DTGD challenges completed on Splitcoaststampers, but I'm doing what I can and have completed two more entries! The first card also uses the retro sketch that's up for the new CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I sponged Aqua Mist and Tropic Teal inks with TCW's Mini Well Rounded stencil.  I then added texture by using Liquitex light modeling paste with Tim Holtz's Bubble layering stencil.  The images were double and triple stamped with Hero Arts Color Layering Seahorse stamp/die set.  

INKS: Aqua Mist, Tropic Teal, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony - PTI; Sand, Dark Roast- Reverse Confetti; Versafine Onyx Black. 

I had this leafy background die, the circle element and the watercolored florals on my leftover pile.  I stamped the sentiment from Reverse Confetti's The Most Beauty stamp set, then adhered the elements on a white card base...very quick and easy!

SSSWSC & CTS

It's a really rainy day and after a full week of babysitting mixed with a stressful work week, I'm so ready to be off 3 days no matter what the weather!  I created this card using the layout for the current CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge and I'm also entering it into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is Anything Goes.  Hero Arts is sponsoring this week's challenge, so I wanted to use their Color Layering Seahorse stamp set with matching dies.  I already had this watercolor background in my leftover pile (smooshed Twisted Citron distress ink and stenciled splatters using Peacock Feathers distress ink), so it was a quick panel to die cut using Lil' Inkers Design wonky stitched rectangle die.  The images were stamped with TH Distress Oxide inks: Fossilized Amber, Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers, Antique Linen, and Twisted Citron.  A library clip from SU and some clear dew drop embellishments finished it off!

Color Throwdown

Hey Color Throwdown fans! I'm hosting this week's challenge and was inspired by this beachy photo to use dark red, blue, golden yellow and white as the color palette! 

Here is my take on it...

I started with Hero Arts fun Color Layering Seahorse stamp set with matching dies.  After smooshing some Mermaid Lagoon distress ink on the background, I then added modeling paste with a stencil.  

I'm using the layout from the current Fusion Card Challenge.  Because of the seahorse image's orientation, I flipped the corner collage element to the right side.

Seahorse Birthday

Good Monday everyone! This is the first Monday in many years that I won't be posting for the Mojo Monday challenge - either as a mojomaker on the design team or as a dedicated challenge participant!  As you recall, Julee has given up the challenge blog after she reached her 500th sketch over a near 10 year span.  But life moves on...and so my mojo will have to stretch out into other directions as well.  

I totally waited until the last minute to get my husband's birthday (which is today) card completed.  I got home from work last night at 11 PM and was burning the midnight oil up until 1 AM to get this beachy themed card done!  I used the sketch for the current Fusion Card Challenge and really loved the curved line!  I was also inspired by the colors - aqua, coral and gray - in the photo.

I started with some masking paper that I tore into an irregular shape then stamped with a sea captain's journal image from SU's The Open Sea. Next, I stamped the splatters using 2 stamps from SU's Gorgeous Grunge.  I then used Liquitex Light Modeling Paste paired with a Mini Specimens stencil (TCW Rebekah Meier Designs).  I just loved FINALLY (after having it many months) inking up and die cutting the 2 and 3 step stamped images from Hero Arts' Color Layering Seahorse set!  I popped several with foam tape and adhered some real sea shells to the collage.  The sentiment was gold embossed using Queen's Gold EP by Ranger.

INK: Sea Breeze, Siren Song, Hayride, Old Gold, Sweet Nectar, Flamingo, Fairy Dust, Silver Lining - dye inks by WPlus9; Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron distress inks by Ranger; Versamark. 

So that's it for now.  I'm going to enjoy my day off after working the weekend!
