Cupcake Inspirations

Hello crafty friends! I created this card last evening for the Cupcake Inspirations #567 challenge to use orange, pink and yellow. I just couldn't pass up this opportunity to use my favorite floral colors!

I wanted to try this trellis technique that Bibi Cameron recently demonstrated as a guest for Jennifer McGuire. So easy to do and makes such a fun background! You can see her tutorial HERE.

I cut all the die pieces from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then sponged the distress ink colors onto my glass mat, spritzed with water and used a brush to add to the different dies. Once the leaves were dry, I splattered some Mowed Lawn ink over them. It was fun to play with these Altenew stamps and dies which I haven't used in a very LONG time!

STAMPS: Bamboo Rose (sentiment), Vintage Flowers (yellow flowers) - both by Altenew.
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Fossalized Amber, Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn distress inks by Ranger; Versafine Clair Nocturne (my fave black pigment ink).
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; White (PTI).
DIES: Fantasy Floral, Vintage Flowers (Altenew).

That's a wrap for today! Thanks for stopping by!

An Apple for Teacher

Hello friends! It's Fri-yay and another weekend is soon upon us. It will be a busy one with a movie date with my grand-daughter and DIL to see It's Me, Margaret. We have a carry-in meal after church on Sunday, so I need to fix food for that. But I digress. I saw the Just Us Girls challenge is to create a CAS design with food and/or beverages. How about an apple for the teacher?!

I made a pair of these cards to give to grands for end of school year teacher thank yous. A tiny library clip and a couple of staples were the only embellishments.

I went to link up at JUGS and realized I missed the deadline! Doh! This was made with a favorite Reverse Confetti stamp/die set which made me sad to be missing this great company since it "retired". I always loved their style!

STAMPS: Class Act (Reverse Confetti).
INK: Pure Poppy, Green Leaf, Cocoa Bean, Blueberry Sky; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Numerous rainbow colors from my leftover file; Patterned school-themed papers from Recollections; White (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Class Act (Reverse Confetti); Master Layouts 08 (Gina K Designs)
OTHER: Library clip (SU); Mini staples; Notebook edge punch.

Color Throwdown #740

It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and yours truly is hosting this week. I have a monochromatic color theme going on with blush, dusty rose and white...a bit of a challenge for me but think I accomplished it with some neutrals added.

I placed some distress inks (Tattered Rose and Lost Shadow) onto my glass mat, spritzed with water then used a small brush to add the ink to the die cut flowers and leaves. I then splattered on a darker color (Hickory Smoke and Worn Lipstick). Once everything was dry, I splattered some white Gouache paint over it all.

STAMPS: Birthday Tag Kit (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke distress inks.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White, Bitty Big: Sweet Blush patterned paper (PTI).
DIES: Blueprints 27 (My Favorite Things); Into the Blooms: Dahlia, Birthday Tag Kit (PTI).
OTHER: Button, Thread.

That's it for today! Hope to see your entry in the throwdown gallery!

PTI April Reveal Day #4

Hi crafty friends! It's the fourth and final day of reveals of the April release at Papertrey Ink with release day happening on Tuesday, April 25, at 10pm EST. Today, we are introducing you to Easy Bouquet + Cornered: Baroque + Cover Plate: Exquisite die + Just Sentiments: In Motion stamps. Let's get started...

First, I created a card using the baroque corner dies and the new bouquet stamp set. I hadn't used my Zig brush markers in a long time, so I stamped with black pigment ink and then clear embossed the image. It makes it so much easier to stay inside the lines when you "color".

I love how the pop of colors in the florals shows up against the black and white base!

STAMPS: Easy Bouquet.
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink.
PAPER: True Black, White, Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Cornered: Baroque, Easy Bouquet, Love to Layer: Ovals.
OTHER: Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers; Sentiment Suite Basics die; Clear embossing powder.

Next up is a card giving a masculine look to the exquisite die. I layered the cover plate die over a kraft corrugated panel that has some distress inks blended onto it. I took a cue from the sentiment and added wood veneer stars for embellishment.

I sponged the edges of the ripped banner die and stamped the sentiment using Dark Chocolate ink. I layered two of the skinny diagonal frames for more stability and dimension.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: In Motion, Tuck It: Dad.
INK: Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers distress inks; White pigment; Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal, Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Fine Linen, Classic Kraft, Honey Nut, Enchanted Evening, Weathervane, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart, Orange Zest; Rocky Slope, Metropolis.
PAPER: Corrugated kraft; Classic Kraft, Vintage Cream.
DIES: Cover Plate: Exquisite; Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border; Tuck It: Dad; Ripped Banners.
OTHER: Veneer wood stars.

This is probably my fave card I created for this release! The base layer is watercolor paper sprayed with pink/green/orange distress spray stains.

The florals were all cut from Bristol Smooth Surface paper, ink blended with brushes then splattered with water after the ink had dried.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: In Motion.
INK: Sweet Blush, Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Ocean Tides; Versafine Claire Nocturne; Distress spray stains.
PAPER: Ranger watercolor; Bristol Smooth Surface; White.
DIES: Psalm Reflections April, Cover Plate: Exquisite.

The tiny sentiment stamp set has some incredible sentiments and I fell in love with this little but mighty few words of encouragement! It fits perfectly in layered circle dies on this stenciled background.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: In Motion.
INK: Gentle Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sun, Lemon Tart, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel; Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment.
PAPER: Bitty Big: Pure Poppy, White.
DIES: Circle, Stitched rectangle.
OTHER: Wild Blooms stencil.

And...last but not least...another dad card in a mini slimline size.

This focuses on another of the unique sentiments for the baseball lovers in your life! The "DAD" letters were cut twice with red layered over black then glued to the shadow die cut from white.

While the "Exquisite" cover plate die isn't long enough to fit a slimline card, you can cut it to fit and then cover the cut with some ripped banner dies. The baseball is from the Just for Dad set and the bat is from Tuck It: Dad stamp/die set.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: In Motion, Tuck It: Dad, Just for Dad.
INK: Candy Apple, Misty Coast, Rocky Slope, Licorice.
PAPER: White, True Black, Pure Poppy.
DIES: My Dad, Cover Plate: Exquisite, Ripped Banners, Tuck It: Dad, Just for Dad.

PTI April Reveal Day #3

Hi everyone! Welcome back to day three of the April release at Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Psalm Reflections: April stamps and dies + Into the Blooms: Blossoming Beauties dies + Larger Than Life: Dad die + Larger Than Life: Dad Sentiments stamps + Tuck It: Dad stamps and dies + Raising the Bar Hot Foil Plate.

I love the Psalm Reflections series that PTI started this year and this month, I went with a very clean and simple design. I started with Spring Rain paper and stamped a portion of the floral stamp in two corners using Blueberry Sky ink.

The sentiment was white embossed on heavy weight vellum then corner brackets were added (Enchanted Evening ink on white).

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: April, Easy Bouquet, Fall Farmers Market.
INK: Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening; Versamark.
PAPER: Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening, White, Vellum.
DIES: Fall Farmers Market.
OTHER: White embossing powder.

The new blooms are not only beautiful but VERY easy to assemble! I die cut all the pieces from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then used blending brushes to add ink colors.

It's hard to see the 3D embossed lavender panel but it's a good way to add subtle texture. I find myself going frequently to the sentiments in the Tuck It: Sentiments set when you need a smaller sentiment that doesn't cover up much of the design.
STAMPS: Tuck It: Sentiments.
INK: Amethyst Allure (PTI); Lemon Whip, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard, Marigold, Aquamarine, Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime, Olive, Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Lavender, Regal Kiss (Pinkfresh Studio dye inks); Squeezed Lemon distress ink.
PAPER: White, Lilac Grace (PTI), Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Tag Sale: Quilted, Love to Layer: Squares, Into the Blooms: Blossoming Beauties.
OTHER: Scripty 3D embossing folder (Stampin' Up); Gemstone brad (Recollections).

This new set with larger scaled "dad icons" is a really fun way to pair

up with the Tuck It dies! I will include a photo of the inside since it uses the Larger Than Life: Dad die with one of the sentiments. This new bracket set that can be layered up in a variety of ways will be a new favorite for sure! As always, I layered up the dad die twice to give it more dimension and stability.

STAMPS: Tuck It: Dad; Larger Than Life: Dad Sentiments (inside).
INK: Rocky Slope, Metropolis; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Enchanted Evening, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart, Orange Zest, Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold, Honey Nut, Classic Kraft, Fine Linen, Dark Chocolate, Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal.
PAPER: Bitty Big: Pure Poppy, True Black, White.
DIES: Larger Than Life: Dad, Tuck It: Dad, Love to Layer: Delightful Brackets.
