Inspired By...

 

There is a gorgeous inspiration photo for the new Inspired By challenge! I needed a birthday card for a lady who turns 90 in a few days. I was inspired by the flowers and the number but realized just now I forgot to take a photo of the inside of the card! Doh! It says "Celebrating 90 years" and is already sealed up and in the mailbox. 

I used products from The Greetery. Using the multi-step stencils make it easy for a card to "come together"!

It's another hazy day in VA secondary to the ongoing forest fires in Canada! Sure is bizarre how far that smoke can travel! Saw on the evening news yesterday that they are seeing it in Spain! 😲 Have a good day everyone!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #749

 

Vickie has a fun color palette for the new Color Throwdown challenge this week: pink, purple and green! I had this Psalm sentiment on my leftover pile along with the pink panel of the tin stitched embossed frame. It was a perfect fit for the challenge!

I used the Into the Blooms: Fun Flowers die set and cut out multiple dies from Bristol Smooth Surface paper. I ink blended colors then splattered with white gouache paint.

I only wanted a "hint" of purple and loved the end result.

Release Day Card

 

It's release day at Papertrey Ink and I've got another card using the Psalm Reflections June stamp/die set. There is an Instagram hop at 2:00pm EST today then the PTI store will be open to purchase these new items at 10pm EST. I expect some things to sell out quickly, so get signed in and send your order soon!

I die cut the Cover Plate: Fanciful Flowers panel from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blended with dye inks. The white vertical strip on the left was embossed using the Border Bling: Tin Stitch die. After stamping the sentiment with Hawaiian Shores ink x 3 using a MISTI, I then used Versamark ink and embossed with clear powder.

Day #4 June Reveals at Papertrey In

The last day of reveals is here for the June release at Papertrey Ink! Have you enjoyed the release so far? Today, we are introducing you to Pack Your Suitcase stamps and dies + Pleasing Pineapple Hot Foil Plate.

 

I started with a base panel of white paper and used the pineapple hot foil plate with matte black foil. I tend to have better and more consistent good results with my matte colors (black and white).
 

I doubled up on the hello dies to make the sentiment sturdier to apply, then had a ball stamping all the fun images to fill up the suitcase!

I wanted to create a card using some images without the suitcase so paired them up with the sail boat and sea gulls from an older set called Seas of Life.

I grew up wearing flip flops almost all the time during summer months growing up in Ohio. I paid the price with foot issues as I grew older. Podiatrist told me there wasn't good foot support in flip flops! :-( But, I still love to "wear" flip flops on my cards - haha!

Day #3 June reveals at Papertrey Ink

 

The days are flying by and we are already at day three of reveals for the June release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to Beach Bag Stencil + Inside Greetings: Days of Summer stamps + Psalm Reflections: June stamp set and dies. 

I wanted this sentiment to be the focal point and went with the "sunburst" word for my inspiration. I used the sunburst frame die over some rustic cream paper for the base then arranged a variety of the fun images from the Pack the Suitcase set that you will see more of tomorrow.

The palm tree is from the Tuck It: Travel set shown on day one and will be a versatile image for beach and summer time cards!

Another beautiful Psalm is being released and I embellished with some favorite floral dies (clover). It has a beautiful corner bracket die that comes with the set which I sponged lightly with Vintage Jadeite ink.

I put inks on my glass mat, spritzed it with water, then smooshed some Bristol Smooth Surface paper into the inks. I was going for variation in the color shades plus it gives a more mottled appearance.

Day #2 June Reveals at Papertrey Ink

It's day two of reveals for the June release at  Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Into the Blooms: Iris dies + Larger Than  Life: Hello stamps and dies. You will not want to miss all of the design team's creativity using these gorgeous new florals and sentiments!

I first die cut all the floral pieces from Bristol Smooth Surface card stock then color blended them. I discovered the colors I picked matched well with the patterned papers from PTI's "Egg Hunt" 8x8" patterned paper. Score! The Amethyst Allure sentiment banner was white embossed and popped up with foam tape.

TIPS: 
1. Layer at least 2 sentiment and frame dies to add dimension and make it sturdier to handle.
2. Color blend your florals to add depth and a more realistic look.

INK: Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise; Grassy Knoll, Olive.

This background gives you a sneak peek of the new hot foil plate that you'll see more of on the last day of reveals. The vertical scalloped die is from the Birthday Celebration die set and has a wee bit of a striped paper peeking out. The vertical embossed design is hard to see in the photo but is a detail I love.

TIPS:
1. Break up the sentiments into small "blocks" for a different look.
2. Add a variety of textures with hot foiling, twine, dry embossing, etc.

Day #1 June Reveals at Papertrey Ink

 

It's day one of reveals for the June release at Papertrey Ink. We are in full summertime mode with travel, beach vibes, a new flower for the Into the Bloom series plus a new verse in the Psalm Reflection series and more! Today, we are introducing you to Tuck It: Travel stamps and dies + World Map Stencil collection + Go-To Gift Card Holder: Beach Bag dies + Just Sentiments: Days of Summer stamps. Not all the team members received all of the newly released items, so I won't have the beach bag GC holder or the map stencil to show you on a card. 

Until I can get the map stencil, I substituted an Old World Map stamp that is retired from Stampin' Up and stamped it with Fine Linen ink over Fine Linen card stock. I wanted a very subtle map in the background so it wouldn't distract from the sweet dies in this set.

I popped the plane with foam tape so it literally gives a 3D look as if it's truly flying off the card. :-) The dies are very easy to line up and the details are amazing!

I don't have the beach bag dies yet, so went with the previously released Summer Shells die set that I love. It goes so well with the awesome summer sentiments in this new set!

The base layer was stenciled with a sunny rays stencil (Bright Buttercup ink) then layered with an oval that was color blended lightly using Fine Linen and Hawaiian Shores dye inks by PTI. The photos don't show the shimmery look on the shells like you see in real life.

INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne; Bright Buttercup, Aqua Mist, Fine Linen, Sweet Blush, Honey Nut, Hawaiian Shores.
