Eucalyptus

 

I pulled out a seldom used PTI stamp set to create a monochromatic card with a pop of green. This is for the Seize the Birthday challenge which has a topping to use your favorite color (mine was green!). It was also inspired by the current Cupcake Inspiration challenge to use green and white.

 

I wanted to add an element of texture to the background so I die cut the Delicately Woven die from PTI. This is a tricky one as it needs to have a shim added to the sandwich plus I had to turn it several times and run it through my Big Shot about 6 times before it cleanly cut all the intricate parts!

Word Art Wednesday

 

Good day crafty friends! It's time for a new Word Art Wednesday  challenge and this time Karen has chosen Lamentations 3:24. Another reminder that living in the Lord always brings us hope! Stamp Simply is our sponsor for this challenge and will be giving away a $25 gift card to some lucky participant. I am using the  Eucalyptus Silhouettes stamp/die set from Stamp Simply on my card.

I computer-generated the verse then used a Watercolor Wash Free Form stencil and Milled Lavender distress ink to give a watercolor look to the background. I paired up some distress inks for each of the eucalyptus branches. I inked up the whole branch with the lighter of the two colors, then used a sponge dauber to "pounce" on some random splotches of the darker color. I lightly sprayed with water before stamping onto Bristol Smooth Surface paper.

INK: Milled Lavender, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, Villainous Potion distress inks (Ranger).

Meadow Stencil

Good Tuesday everyone! I am finally posting my first use of Papertrey Ink's new stencil released this month. It's so easy to line up the 6 different layers and produces a beautiful background! I'm entering this into the Just Us Girls challenge where it's stencil week.

A favorite die set for masculine cards is this October large die of the month by Spellbinders. I chose to make it a birthday card.

Festive Friday Butterfly

I am playing along with the Festive Friday challenge and chose three items from the inspo board: sparkle, heat embossing and florals. Their theme is "National Friends Day" so not sure that a sympathy greeting suits the theme but, sadly, I've needed sympathy cards for a number of friends in the recent past. I searched the Papertrey Ink website for card samples of this Graceful Wings set and found a beautiful card by Melissa Phillips that I CASEd.

I heat embossed with fine gold powder and added sparkle to the flowers by lightly spraying the background with Sheer Shimmer craft spray and by adding Crystal Stickles to the accent florals.

INK: Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, Vintage Jadeite, Ocean Tides (PTI); Versamark.

PAPER: Bitty Big: Mint Julep, Vellum, White (PTI).

Lush Bloom

 

Jen T has a lovely sketch for us at the Freshly Made Sketches blog. I pulled out an oldie but goodie set that has 3 step stamping to create the bloom and leaves. Here's what I used:

The little bluebird and tiny florals were my inspiration to add this whimsical bird & flowers to embellish the cupcake.

 

 

I used coordinating papers from PTI's Watercolor Wonder pack. I love that it has a slight linen texture.

Another card added to my birthday stash. I used some older "stuff" from my massive supplies accumulated from around 30 years of papercrafting! I'm trying to go back and use more of my older things so this card was fun to combine older favorites.
