Another Wednesday and another new month for the Color Throwdown Challenge! Broni is the hostess this week and has chosen lavender, purple, kraft and gray. Now this had me stumped for awhile, but I decided that this 3D peony die by Altenew would work well with the shades of purple.
The background was already embossed in my leftover pile and I added the stitched frame (popped with foam tape) to put more emphasis on the white elements. The sentiment was die cut twice to give it more stability.

I needed a card for a local 4 year old boy who is facing a couple of serious surgeries on his ear. I thought he could use some monster hugs (along with a little gift) to help make his recuperation time more fun! :-)

was for a Sketch For You To Try challenge. It's nice that not all the sentiments in the set are related to Halloween.

On the Reverse Confetti blog, there's a new Stock Your Stash challenge for March and the theme is Easter/Spring. We are beginning to hear the frogs singing outdoors so that's one more sign that spring is just around the corner! I'm so ready! These colors seem to scream spring time to me (see the list below as to what I used).
I knew right away I wanted to use RC's stitched rays cover panel on the base. I white embossed the sentiment over a circle of Iced Aqua CS, then created a collage of florals from two different sets.

I made this fun CAS design for the MFT Color Challenge #112 and the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #426. It's basically a one layer card with only the overlapping lower portion of patterned paper from MFT's Black and White Basics 6x6" pad.

This is theme week at the Paper Players Challenge and Anne Marie has chosen Spring Fever! Yay for longer days and the thought that spring is just around the corner! I am SOOO ready!
I went with a navy blue and spring green color combo and used a pop of yellow similar to the inspiration photo. The Hello Spring stamps and dies were my starting point.
I stamped the word background twice with navy ink over a smooshed background that was created using Twisted Citron distress ink on watercolor paper. I stamped the flower and leaves with Navy ink over scraps of yellow and green water colored paper. The hello sentiment was white embossed on navy cardstock.

Julee has a square sketch for the current Mojo Sketch Challenge! I love square cards but it does require extra postage if you mail them. These colors tend to have a fallish feeling, but what the heck...I went with them anyway! Psst...initially I was going to use this for an upcoming Color Throwdown challenge but changed my mind.
I had this Verve coffee stamp set and coffee word die out for another project, so just went with it for this sketch. The mug is paper pieced and the 'steam' was white embossed. I used Papertrey Ink's Tag Sale: Quilted die for a square within a square (yes, I did some sketch tweaking - haha!). Patterned papers are from the Perfectly Plaid Fall 6x6" pad by Lawn Fawn.
INK: Peacock Feathers distress ink by Tim Holtz; Soft Suede by SU.
My favorite sketch is one that involves a corner collage, so this new layout at Freshly Made Sketches was a must do challenge for me! To add a bit of texture, I added Liquitex texture paste with a Tim Holtz' Bubble stencil for the background. I then splattered some Twisted Citron distress ink over the base panel.
I'm also playing along with Papertrey Ink's Win It Wednesday challenge where Laurie Schmidlin is asking us to use a favorite accessory from PTI. It was between ribbon and buttons for me, so I went with this older set called Baby Button Bits which has this adorable little pea design for a baby card!
The leaves were punched from patterned paper using a Martha Stewart punch. Now that wafer dies are so common, I rarely use my punches and have debated purging them from my little crafty room. I did eliminate some punches but this one survived the cut - lol!
