Inspired By Neutrals

Hello crafty friends!
I made a quick card for the new Inspired By challenge where I used the neutrals of black and white. I tend to always go with color when I create, but I truly love neutrals after I work with them! This Jumbo Curiosity: Buckeye Leaf die by The Greetery has such awesome detailing so I went with it.

I die cut two of the sentiments so it would give it more dimension. It's The Larger Than Life: Hello die by Papertrey Ink. Patterned papers are from the Bitty Big: True Black pack - also by PTI. I popped up the white leaf with foam tape.

Freshly Made Sketches #600

Hello crafty friends! There is a huge milestone happening for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge! They are celebrating their 600th challenge and I was honored to be asked to be a guest designer for the occasion! It's a great layout and we'd love to have you play along!

I thought it would be fun to use the largest of the sunflower dies from Papertrey Ink's Into the Blooms: Sunflower die set for the circle element. I cut all the pieces from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blended. My recently discovered technique to create floating strips had me back at it with strips of yellow and aqua.

I added a hint of texture by stenciling lightly with Hawaiian Shores dye ink and the A Little Sketchy stencil from PTI. Some clear sequins in two groups of 3 were the finishing touch. I wanted the sentiment to be a thanks theme...thanks to the FMS team for continuing to provide the stamping community with top notch challenges!

STAMPS: Effortless Beauties (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Limeade Ice, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean dye inks (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, White (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Simple Strips (Pretty Pink Posh); Into the Blooms: Sunflower (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Moonshine sequins, A Little Sketchy stencil (Papertrey Ink).

Color Throwdown #757

Greetings everyone! It's Wednesday which means there is a new Color Throwdown challenge happening! Lori is hosting this week and has chosen gray, aqua and green for our colors. Love this combo! I decided to create a stenciled background using Papertrey Ink's Fallen Leaves stencil that has two steps involved.

I stamped the sentiment on vellum using Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink then embossed with clear powder. I cut and adhered two of the skinny frames together then embellished with the Jumbo Curiosity: Dragonfly die/stencil combo from The Greetery.

STAMPS: Hello Pumpkin (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, Weathervane dye inks by Papertrey Ink; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Weathervane, Hawaiian Shores, White, Vellum (PTI).
DIES: Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Jumbo Curiosity: Dragonfly (The Greetery).
OTHER: Clear embossing powder; Fallen Leaves stencil set (PTI).

That's it for today. Sure hope you can join us in the challenge!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #756

Happy hump day everyone! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week we are using orange, green and brown. I wanted to use this new (to me) Stitching Cover Plate die after receiving a beautiful card earlier in the year with it used as a background behind a floral frame. I used a stamp/stencil/die combo from The Greetery to create this card.

I color blended 3 different shades of orange ink for the background and it's hard to see the variegated colors after stamping the sentiment in Dark Chocolate dye ink. I embellished with sequins and Bubble Blowers. After gluing the frame to the coverplate die background, I used foam tape to raise that panel for added dimension.

STAMPS: Floral Frame, Opposites Attract (The Greetery).
INK: Dark Chocolate, Terracotta Tile (Papertrey Ink); Grassy Knoll, Olive, Apricot, Clementine, Persimmon (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: Soft Suede (Stampin' Up); White (PTI).
DIES: Floral Frame, Opposites Attract, Opposites Attract Script (The Greetery); Stitching Coverplate Large (Paper Rose Studio).
OTHER: Moonshine sequins (PTI); Bubble Blower embellishment mix (Trinity Stamps).

Thanks for stopping by and hope to you in the CTD gallery!  ~Wanda

Just Us Girls

Good Monday everyone! I had some extra potted plants stamped from a previous project and decided they would fit well with the new Just Us Girls challenge. This time it's word week - BEE - and it also gave me opportunity to stencil with the honeycomb stencil that was part of the July Surprise Box at Papertrey Ink! Of course, I had to add a few bees as well.

I color blended the honeycomb using Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber distress inks. Inks for the potted plants were dye inks by Pinkfresh Studio. I love how they put gradient colors together to make it so easy to choose inks. Also, they are coming out with new colors in September and I can hardly wait!

STAMPS: Shelf Control (Taylored Expression); Beeutiful (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink; Tangerine, Rust (Reverse Confetti); Grassy Knoll, Olive, Key Lime, Aquamarine, Emerald City (Pinkfresh Studio); Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber distress.
PAPER: White (PTI); Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Let It Grow (Taylored Expressions); Beeutiful (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Circles, Stitched Rectangles & Stitched Banner Flags STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: July 2023 Surprise Box stencil set (honeycomb); Let It Grow 6x6" stencil set (Taylored Expressions).

It's an overcast day and we are really hoping for some rain! Hope you have a good Monday!  ~Wanda

Seize the Birthday

The "topping" for the current Seize the Birthday challenge is to create a shaped card. I went with the A2 nested pendant etched dies from Photoplay Paper. Not sure why I don't do shaped cards more often because they really are a fun option to try! I decided to use the punny Taylored Expression stamp/die/stencil set called Love Grows Here.

STAMPS: Love Grows Here (Taylored Expressions).
INK: Slumber, Sapphire, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime, Olive, Aquamarine, Tidal Pond dye inks by Pinkfresh Studio.
PAPER: Plaid Patterns Merry & Bright 6x6" pad (My Favorite Things); White (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: A2 Nested Pendant Etched dies (Photoplay Paper); Love to Layer: Ovals (Papertrey Ink); Love Grows Here (Taylored Expressions).

That's a wrap for today! Enjoy your weekend (I have tomatoes to can for juice...a bit of labor but worth it for making delicious vegetable soup during the winter).  ~Wanda

July 2023 Surprise Box

We can now let the cat out of the bag and reveal what is in the July surprise box at Papertrey Ink! I made my card before the stencils arrived (there were manufacturing delays) so I didn't use some of the really cool elements on the pair of stencil sheets you get in the kit (honeycomb background, rustic chair, bees, butterflies, bee hive, etc.). You also get some translucent paste in the box which is such a fun way to add texture to your cards.

I also layered it up with the Cover Plate: Fanciful Flowers die and the Love to Layer: Ovals die. So many options to mix and match! Remember, once this kit sells out...that's it! No more reordering, so if it's something you love, order it soon. Thanks for stopping by...   ~Wanda
