Color Throwdown

It's Wednesday and there's a new Color Throwdown Challenge with some great colors picked by Lori - our hostess with the mostest this week!  As a teacher, she is starting a new school year soon, and is inspiring us with these great number and alphabet posters. I'm also playing along with the Tag, You're It #3 challenge which combined with CAS(E) this Sketch #87.

The papers from MME's Lime Twist "Fly a Kite" pad were perfect for the colors and the theme!  Stamps are from Reverse Confetti's "Forever Fall" stamp set - paired up with RC tag dies, Petals 'n Posies leaf die and office borders die.

Play along with us this week and you just might be in the spotlight next week by being our guest star stamper!  You don't have to have exact colors to play along, but you do need to have a close resemblance.  Be sure and link your creation to the linky tool at the bottom of the current challenge post on the Color Throwdown Challenge blog.

#Hello

I combined two SU sets for this quick and easy card using the Color Challenge colors on SCS (Blackberry Bliss, So Saffron, Bermuda Bay) and  the layout for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. The embossed Bermuda Bay panel was created with the SU Arrows Textured Impressions EF.  The 3 faux washi tape strips were stamped in the 3 colors then fussy cut.  The hashtag sentiment was punched with the window word punch (SU) and a 2" circle punch (SU) was used for...you guessed it...the circle - lol!  I thought the white space needed a little something, so I added light modeling paste with a Dylusions Dotted Flowers stencil.  A coordinating mini clothespin in the Blackberry Bliss color was the finishing touch.

STAMPS: #Hello (SU), Tape It (SU).
PAPER: Bermuda Bay, White.
INK: Blackberry Bliss, So Saffron, Bermuda Bay.

Mojo Monday

Another week has flown by and it's already time for a new Mojo Monday Challenge with yet another fabulous sketch!  When I first saw Stampin' Up's new in colors, I initially thought "bleh"...they're too close to other existing colors.  Then I saw the color combos in their Moonlight designer series pack and I was sold!  Believe it or not, the flower was colored with an aquapainter...picking up the Blackberry Bliss ink.  It looks totally different from the same color cardstock used for the sentiment and frame!

Here's what I used...
STAMPS: Better Together (sentiment), Sunny Days (flower), Dream Big (leaves) - all by Verve.
PAPER: Moonlight DP, Blackberry Bliss, Sahara Sand, White.
INK: Blackberry Bliss, Sahara Sand.
ACCESSORIES: Stitched photo frame die by Lil Inker Designs, Dreamy Leaves and Leafy Sprigs dies by Verve, Corduroy button by SU, Avery Elle Citrus Blend sequins, Braided trim, Banner die by Lil Inker Designs.

For more inspiration, you'll want to visit the other mojomakers' blogs below...OR...you can go to the Mojo Monday blog and check out the first 7 thumbnails.

Just Us Girls

It's trend week over on Just Us Girls challenge blog and we were asked to use washi tape on our
project.  I went with a one layer card and very simple layout...perfect to use some new WPlus9 stamps and dies!  I scored a couple of lines on the metallic silver cardstock watering can.  I stamped a cluster of flowers and leaves then fussy cut around them.  I added black enamel accents to the yellow flowers and silver Wink of Stella shimmer pen to the centers of the lavender flowers.  Some Lemonade Blend sequins by Avery Elle finish it off.

STAMPS: Fresh Cuts Containers (WPlus9), Hand Lettered Thanks (WPlus9).
ACCESSORIES: Fresh Cuts Containers matching dies by WPlus9), Washi tape by Recollections, Avery Elle sequins.

I hate to see my 3 day weekend off come to an end, but it was so great to have all of our children (and spouses) home this weekend.  We ate at a favorite local restaurant Saturday night and took a few photos while waiting outdoors.  Thought I'd share with you...

As you can see...we will soon be grandparents!  This is our first and a very exciting time as we await the arrival of a little girl - due September 16!

Fusion Card Challenge

A quick and simple card inspired by both the inspiration photo and the sketch for the current Fusion Card Challenge.  Love this chevron patterned paper with these soft, summery colors!

PAPER: Park Bench 6x6 pad by Fancy Pants Designs.
DIES: Lil Inker Designs.

Dare to Get Dirty

Wow...I nearly forgot to post my Dare to Get Dirty card sample that I created for my BFF Teresa's challenge today. I can't go into the details of her challenge. Hopefully, you're a fan club member and you can check it out on Splitcoaststampers!  I had fun with this summertime creation and once again...used some embossing paste with the graduated hearts stencil by MFT in the background.  Paper is from Echo Park's For the Record 6x6 pad.  Stitched circle dies are by Lil Inker Designs.  The heart seeds are the "insides" of a Heart circle Nestabilities die.  Sentiment is from Verve's Hope Blooms stamp set.

Speaking of watermelons...John Tesh posted today that melons with seeds are sweeter than those without.  Also, you get more antioxidants when a watermelon is at room temperature than if it's cold.  Sorry, John, but I like my watermelon COLD! Also...it's loaded with Vitamin B6!  Just a little late night trivia - lol!

Color Throwdown

Check out these great colors that Tammy has chosen...based on this fun vintage photo of children at play! If you look at the Color Throwdown Challenge today, you'll see a common theme with many of our cards. We decided we wanted to throw a little "back to school" party for Lori - one of our designers who abruptly had a change handed to her in her teaching career earlier this year.  We all wanted to wish her well as she steps back into the classroom!  Best wishes, Lori!  You truly are a class act!!

I just love this school-themed stamp set from Reverse Confetti!  I think the polka dotted apple sold me on day one!  The card design is using Jen's layout for Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try challenge for the month of August.  It's a keeper!

I can't believe with all these panels that I didn't use ANY designer papers!  Lori always has such wonderful clean designs, so I knew I wanted to keep the BG white.  Quite a few RC dies were used on this card: apple w/leaf, notebook page and notebook edge.  The arrow border and stem were fussy cut.

STAMPS: Class Act and Arrows 'n Elements - both by Reverse Confetti.
PAPER: White (PTI), Bermuda Bay, Black, Smoky Slate.
INK: Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, Black Licorice.
ACCESSORIES: Class Act dies by RC, Office Edges die by RC, Mini library clip (SU), Enamel dots.

I'm so excited to tell you we have a super talented guest designer for August: Jody Collins from Stamping a Latte!  I've been a fan of her creations for a long time and look forward to having her join us!  Welcome, Jodi!
