CAS(E) This Sketch

I had this stamp set and Tim Holtz distress markers out from a previous project, so went with them again to create a card using the SCS Color Challenge colors (So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Mossy Meadow) with Donna Mikasa's sketch on the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge blog (and now I'm realizing this was last week's sketch - insert sad face here).  The CC's dessert option was to add gold... and... bonus points if you create a non-Halloween card.  I love using the markers to color directly on the stamp then stamping on watercolor paper.  I take a brush that is lightly loaded with water and do some blending.  It then looks like you've used two colors, but in reality, I only used one (Spiced Marmalade) for the flowers.  I did use two shades of green (Crushed Olive and Shabby Shutters) on the leaves.  This vellum paper is from a specialty pack from Stampin' Up and adds a pop of elegance to the card.

It's a dreary day here in Virginia with more rain during the night.  Leaves are probably nearing their peak here this week.  Lots of tourists passing through on the Blue Ridge Parkway and many stopping through our small towns for fall festivals, craft/art shows, etc.  Have a blessed day and thanks for commenting!

Happy Birthday, Kelley!

The design team members at ODBD are honoring a special "boss lady" by having a surprise birthday blog hop to honor her on her special day! Her plate is extra full right now and we want her to know we appreciate all of her extra work that goes on behind the scenes to make everything at ODBD run smoothly! We are sending her lots of well wishes for a really special birthday!

My card uses several ODBD products: Pennant Alphabet Solid, Pennant Dies, Beautiful Borders die and designer papers from the Chalkboard Collection.  I fussy cut the sentiment from the paper pad.  The banner was stamped with Memories Unicorn pigment ink pad - my fave pad for great coverage of white ink - on Real Red cardstock.  The pennant sets and dies are a "must have" for your collection if you ever want to personalize a card!

Mojo Monday

Good Monday everyone! Julee has another great sketch on board for today's Mojo Monday challenge! Remember, it's contest week, so check out all the details HERE.  I needed to use this sentiment (Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane by Verve) for a masculine card, so I flipped and tweaked the sketch enough to make it work!  I opted to stamp the illusion of the one panel by stamping the dots from SU's Kinda Eclectic set.  The little striped flag peeking out is the lower part of the banner stamp from Verve's Remember This set.  Several die cut stars and some sequins made this a really quick and easy pastor appreciation card to create!

Guesting for Just Us Girls

Hi, everyone! I'm thrilled to be able to announce that I am guest designing during October for the lovely and talented gals at Just Us Girls! Thanks so much to the team for inviting me to join them this month!

This first week of the month is word week and the word is 

CELEBRATE!   I went with this word die from My Favorite Things' LLD Accent It Celebrate Die-Namics and used paper
from Bo Bunny's "Surprise" pad.  Balloons were die cut using Simon Says Stamp Balloons die set. A little glitter tape and some Avery Elle sequins finished it off.

Blooming Good Day

October 1 starts the "Hope You Can Cling To" challenges on SCS to benefit the breast cancer patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.   Over the past five years, the papercrafting community has sent thousands of handmade cards for patients and their families, bringing joy and art to people who need it the most. My card is for Dina's challenge with the clever theme to "Hold Onto Your Hope" by incorporating some kind of handle on our card.  I thought this sweet little Pure Innocence image with the watering can would work well for this challenge! I dusted off some Copic markers to color the image, then fussy cut and popped with foam tape.  My layout uses the current Retrosketches Challenge sketch.

ODBD October New Release

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Our Daily Bread Designs store!  It's the first of the month and you are going to be wowed by another new release! 

My first card highlights the Noel Ornament stamp and the Peaceful Poinsettia dies.  My base panel is watercolor cardstock using the bokeh technique (see WPlus9 Bokeh Made Easy YouTube tutorial). I gold embossed the sentiment on vellum and adhered it using adhesive spray.  The poinsettias were cut from white cardstock then colored with chalk using a sponge makeup applicator.

This card uses portions of the Mistletoe Ornament stamp with several gold embossed mistletoe sprigs that were fussy cut and tucked into the corner poinsettia collage.  I used Liquid Pearls to give the berries some dimension.  I used small foam dot squares to layer all of the poinsettias after sponging the edges with Tea Dye distress ink.

Color Throwdown

My layout is from Karen Giron's current Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #238 and thought it would work perfectly with one of my fave fall stamp sets - Primitive Pumpkins by MFT.  I added some green wire tendrils (curling the ends on a crochet hook).  Papers are from Recollections' Halloween Basics paper pad.
