Mojo Monday Meets Color Challenge

When I saw the Color Challenge on SCS, I squealed with joy when I saw that Peggy had chosen Pacific Point, Crumb Cake and Certainly Celery! I stopped at Michael's today and picked up a couple sheets of this plaid DP...just perfect!  There's only a touch of kraft in the twine and the flower.  I also made this for the Mojo Monday Challenge using Julee's great sketch for this week!

Congrats Grad

I needed a card for a college graduate...a sweet girl who sings on our church praise team and also does some solos. She's a girly girl, so I went with a shabby chic style card using Jen's Sketch For You To Try for the month of May. I dyed white seam binding with pink Glimmer Mist and crinkled it to give it a vintage feel.  Some lace from Flourishes and stitching - both straight and zigzag - were added.  This verse from Jeremiah is a fave of mine to use with graduation cards, so I added it to the inside of the card.

I'm also entering this into the CR84FN53 challenge where I was inspired by this photo collage using the colors pink, aqua and neutrals.

Home Sweet Home

The Flourishes blog has a fun challenge for us today - be inspired by something in your home!  My card was inspired by a china collection that I have on display in my dining room hutch.  It all started after my paternal grandmother died and I inherited the berry bowl on the left.  I loved the soft pink roses and greens and then the search was on!  I never found an exact match to that bowl, but local antique shops and sellers on ebay were sources where I found additional pieces that blended in with it.  Now you can understand why I love this Flourishes lenten rose image so much! :-)

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card for a lady from church who recently lost her husband.  I used the first Viva la Verve sketch for May (by the talented Amber Hight) and really loved this layout!  I colored with Copics and fussy cut the image so it would be "out of the box" on the square panel.   Here's what I used:

Report Card Time!

TGIF and it's also Raise the Bar challenge time!  It's report card time and we are to use letters/text on our project.  I went with this school-themed PI image and paper-pieced her sweater...otherwise it's colored with Copics.  I also used this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge for the layout...love it!  So, here's hoping I made the grade! :-)

Color Throwdown 190

It's Wednesday and that means it's Color Throwdown Challenge time! This week, Lori Tecler has a great color palette for us...inspired by this beautiful room!

My card layout was inspired by one of my fave stampers, Bridget Finlay.  I had intentions of linking her card here and could not find it in her SCS gallery.  Anyhoo...I went with an oldie but goodie stamp set retired from SU - Terrific Tulips.  I stamped off once using Daffodil Delight ink for Step 1 of the tulip image, then stamped the Step 2 image using Daffodil Delight ink without stamping off first.  The leaves were stamped using Old Olive and Kiwi Kiss inks.  DP is a retired collection - Island Oasis - by SU.  The scallop and postage stamp borders are Die-Namics by MFT.  Sentiment is from Verve's Joyful Blooms set.

Vintage Vogue

The Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge for this week is a circle or square card (finished size is 4 1/4" square).  I was inspired by the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger photo...love all those shades of neutral laces, satin, and flocked fabrics!  One of my go-to fave techniques is the Belleek-inspired technique to brayer a color on your EF before you run it through a die machine.  I used kraft ink on kraft CS to get a subtle shading difference.

Spring is Love

...this is the theme for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge where we're to use flowers, polka dots and a heart.  We are also to use the colors from this inspiration picture.  I'm also creating this card for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge on the Flourishes blog where Cindy has challenged us to use butterflies on a card.  Oozak is a company with fantastic customer service and shipping and I've ordered most all of my Copics from them.  They have started a monthly challenge and this month it's to use spring colors...check it out HERE.  And last but not least, I used Chupa's sketch for her Saturday Sketch Challenge...lots of fun layers!
