Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

There's an awesome new layout by Michelle on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog. I cut several Woodwork die strips from Stone paper then color blended Weathervane ink along the edges. I dusted off PTI's Into the Blooms dies for the florals. I think that was the start of their Into the Blooms die series. Let's just say I have an abundance of their floral dies since this one was released!

I started by spritzing Weathered Wood, Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass distress spray stains onto an A2 watercolor panel. I swiped down the length of the panel to give a light blend of the colors.  I then lightly stamped a script in black ink and then stenciled the dots using Stormy Sky distress ink. The florals were all cut from white Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blended with dye inks. After that step was done, I splattered with Permanent White Gouache paint.

STAMPS: Say It Essentials (Papertrey Ink); Texture Tiles 1 (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Honey Nut, Dark Chocolate, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Weathervane (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne; Distress inks as described above.
PAPER: Soft Stone, Stamper's Select White (PTI); Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Into the Blooms, Woodwork (PTI); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).
OTHER: Mini Specimens 6x6 stencil (The Crafters Workshop).

It's a beautiful sunny day in VA before the rain comes tonight and tomorrow AM. Happy Easter everyone!  ~Wanda

Just Add Ink

I wanted to play with my new peony stencil again and this time...it's all about yellows! The Just Add Ink challenge has an inspo board where we are to choose at least 2 elements. I chose brads and ribbon. After stenciling all the layers, I die cut the florals and splattered with white Gouache paint. The sentiment was popped up on foam tape.

STAMPS: Nesting Postage Greetings (Waffle Flower).
INK: Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Harvest Gold, Bitty Big: Harvest Gold (PTI).
DIES: Nesting Postage Collage (Waffle Flower).
OTHER: Nesting Postage Collage peony stencil (Waffle Flower); Sheer green ribbon; White brads.

Good Friday to everyone! Remember...Sunday is coming!  ~Wanda

Tic Tac Toe at Paper Players

The Paper Players challenge has a tic-tac- toe board to inspire us. I did the right vertical column of sentiment, embossing and layers. Since taking an online series of classes at Creative Worship Stamps, I'm in a multi media mode. It's not my usual clean and layered style but I do enjoy learning how to layer things to get the vintage grunge look.

My photos didn't capture the white textured paste that I used with a large damask stencil. It looks better IRL!

STAMPS: Blooming Tulips, Sew Many Stitches (Creative Worship Stamps); Tim Holtz "The Journey" and "French Market" Visual Artistry Collection by Stampers Anonymous.
INK: Worn Lipstick, Bundled Sage distress oxide inks; Weathered Wood, Old Paper distress spray stains; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; Stamper's Select White, True Black (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Blooming Tulips (Creative Worship Stamps); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Single Dasmask stencil (Creative Worship Stamps); Mini Specimens 6x6 stencil by The Crafters Workshop; Brass paper clip; Tim Holtz "Small Talk" idea-ology stickers; Liquitex Light Modeling Paste; Clear embossing powder.
That's a wrap for today! Thanks for stopping by.  ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

I had some time for a fairly quick card for the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I stamped the Finch Collage stamp from Creative Worship Stamps in Ground Espresso on Vintage Cream paper then fussy cut it. The notebook die page was stamped and distressed to look like a collage background. The base of the card is a piece of patterned paper from Craft Comsortium.

STAMPS: Finch Collage (Creative Worship Stamps); Tim Holtz "French Market" and "The Journey" sets in the Visual Artistry Collection (Stampers Anonymous).
INK: Ground Espresso, Bundled Sage, Scattered Straw distress oxide.
DIES: Love to Layer: Notebook (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Copics to color the bird; Tim Holtz "Small Talk" stickers; Tag ephemera.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!  ~Wanda

Live By Faith Virtual Retreat by CWS

I wanted to share my class projects that I've done so far after purchasing the Live By Faith virtual retreat sessions through Creative Worship Stamps. There are 9 different instructors with loads of information to get your creative juices flowing! :-) The sessions are prerecorded so you still have the opportunity to join in this retreat!

I want to make more mixed media projects but that will have to happen next week as a very busy Easter season is happening this week! Thanks for stopping by!  ~Wanda

WAW April 1

Welcome to a new Word Art Wednesday challenge! Karen has chosen I Kings 8:61 for our inspiration verse.  This is Solomon's concluding charge to Israel following the temple dedication, urging them to maintain an undivided, loyal heart toward God. It emphasizes that true devotion requires actively walking in God's statues and keeping His commandents.

I chose another foiled hearts background and layered it with an oval die (popped with foam tape) and some florals from the Build A Bouquet die set at Papertrey Ink.

STAMPS: None (verse printed at 60% size).
INK: New Leaf, Ocean Tides, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise (PTI).
PAPER: Sweet Blush, Stamper's Select Whte (PTI).
DIES: Build A Bouquet, Love to Layer: Ovals (PTI); Blueprints 27 (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Sheer ribbon; White matte foil; From the Heart hot foil plate (PTI); Black enamel dots.

We'd love to have you join us! Remember...there is a generous sponsor for every challenge and you only have a chance to win if you enter! This month we have a new sponsor: Birch Press Design giving away a $20 gift card after a random draw. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!  ~Wanda

Creative Worship Stamps Guest Designer

Well, it's hard to believe March has already passed us by and that  means my time as a guest designer for Creative Worship Stamps is over! Thanks again to CWS staff (Esther Asbury was my talented go-to person for questions...thank you!). For my last card, I made a feeble attempt at background collage. I'm going to persist until I get to a better outcome as I really love this look! CWS has some really awesome Texture Styles stamps that help with this technique! Be sure to check out their store HERE.

STAMPS: Finch Collage, Be Encouraged, Texture Tiles 1, Texture Tiles 6 (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Antique Linen, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Ground Espresso, Black Soot distress inks.

Tag Card

I am playing along with two challenges:

Just Us Girls #815 - It's mood board week and I was inspired by the black background with pops of bold floral colors. *Oops! This challenge is past the deadline. :-(

Freshly Made Sketches #729 - a fun layout by Amy.

STAMPS
: Texture Tiles 1 (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn distress inks; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Brisstol Smooth Surface; Stamper's Select White, True Black (Papertrey Ink); Black & White Stripes (My Favorite Things).
DIES: Tag Sale #3, Into the Blooms: Blossoming Beauties, On the Edge: Scallops Collection, Stitched Florals (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Black jute twine.

I stamped the script and the mesh grid stamps from Creative Worship Stamps' Texture Tiles 1 set on the tag. Florals were die cut from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then distress inks were smooshed onto the pieces. I didn't add a sentiment for now. Sometimes I like to have a blank card to add a sentiment as needed.

It's a rainy day in Virginia. Good day to concentrate on some stamping classes I signed up for at Creative Worship Stamps!f  ~Wanda

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

I loved the unique layout for the current Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and just had to play along. I was in an earthy neutral mode and used scraps of patterned papers from Honeybee's Textiles & Textures Vintage pad. I die cut strips and adhered them to a rustic white panel then splattered with Ground Espresso distress ink. Some jute twine topped off this simple design.

STAMPS: Be Encouraged (Creative Worship Stamps).
DIES: Love to Layer: Rectangles (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Diagonal Shortcuts (Concord & 9th).

That's all folks! Have a blessed day!  ~Wanda

Graduation Truck

I had a special request to create a graduation card for a young man who takes pride and joy in his black pickup truck. I went with Spellbinders large die of the month October for this fun way to "fill up" the rear of the truck with personalized items. Mindy Eggen has a fabulous 6 step stencil set called Scenic Drive that pairs up well with the truck.

Here's a view of the inside of the card-->

STAMPS: Congratulations Graduate, Hats Off (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Seaside, Sky Blue, Sunshine, Peach Fizz, Doe, Key Lime, Grassy Knoll (Pinkfresh Studio); Canyon Clay (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.

DIES: Large die of the month: October (Spellbinders); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Hats Off, Congratulations Graduate (PTI).

He Lives!

Two more weeks and Easter will be here and we will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is another Easter card using stamps/dies from Creative Worship Stamps. I stamped the cross using a black pigment ink then clear embossed it and colored with Copics. I used some silver paint for the nails (the shine doesn't show up in the photo very well). I cut out multiple foliage die cuts and color blended with distress inks then arranged them behind the cross. The patterned paper is from a 12 x 12" page I've had for MANY years and do not know the manufacturer's name.

STAMPS
: Rustic Easter (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne; Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Cracked Pistachio distress inks.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White (PTI); Patterned paper - ? source.
DIES: Rustic Easter, Foliage (Creative Worship Stamps).
OTHER: Oval punches (Stampin' Up); Metal photo turn (American Crafts); Silver paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda
