Freshly Made Sketches

Karren has a great new sketch for us over on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog! I wanted to play with the other snowman in the die duo by Sizzix, so I layered the chilly guy up on a silver snowflake. I'm trying to make a dent in my patterned papers but still have a long way to go!

INK: Blue Jay (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: Frosty Friends (Doodlebug Design Inc.), Stampers Select White (Papertrey Ink); Silver metallic.
DIES: Chilly & Freezy (Sizzix); Nested Elongated Ovals (Pinkfresh Studio).

Word Art Wednesday

Hello friends! Today we have a new
Word Art Wednesday challenge with Mathew 1:21 as our inspiration verse. Perfect for a Christmas card! Divinity Designs is our sponsor and they are offering a $25 gift card for some blessed participant! This company used to be Our Daily Bread Designs and I was a designer for them many moons ago! They are a great source for faith-based supplies! While I used a manger stamp set from Papertrey Ink, there is also a great stamp set by Divinity Designs that pairs up well with this verse. Check it out HERE.

I started by printing the verse at 50% which fit perfectly inside the manger stamp. I added Wink of Stella ink (it adds a subtle shimmer) to the stars and the halo over baby Jesus.  Also, I added some stitching details with the Sew Many Stitches stamp set by Creative Worship Stamps. I totally forgot about this set when I created for the last challenge where they were sponsors, so I am now adding faux stitching on the inside of the card and on the envelope.  It's a fun set to get the stitching look without dragging out my ancient sewing machine. :-)

STAMPS
: With Great Joy Sentiments, The Greatest Gift (Papertrey Ink); Sew Many Stitches (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Dark Chocolate, Classic Kraft, Honey Nut, Bright Buttercup, Lemon Tart, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado (PTI); Spruce Tips (Pink Fresh Studio).
PAPER: Christmas Plaids 6x6 pad (Recollections); Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals, The Greatest Gift (PTI).
OTHER: Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge...you might just be the lucky winner of the gift card!  ~Wanda

The Paper Players

It's a good day to stay inside and get crafty! I was totally inspired by a card by Melissa Phillips so CASEd her design for The Paper Players challenge to use a tic tac toe inspirational board.  I went with the left vertical row of white, Christmas and die cuts. I used a gold foiled background, different sentiment and different frame to change it up from Melissa's card (you can see her version HERE).  I die cut all the trees from Classic Kraft paper, white embossed the stamped tree details then splattered using yellow gold paint.

STAMPS: Merry Berry Wreath, Peaceful Forest (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versamark.
PAPER: Vellum, Stamper's Select White, Classic Kraft (PTI).
DIES: Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border, Into the Blooms: Poinsettias, Merry Berry Wreath, Peaceful Forest, On the Border: Fir Branches (PTI).
OTHER: Gold sparkle foil; Gold sparkle enamel dots; White embossing powder; Gansai Tambi Starry Colors (yellow gold) paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  ~Wanda

Peace Ornament

Finally finished up this card for two challenges:
Just Us Girls - stencil week.
Freshly Made Sketches - layout by Cecile.
My ornament was almost too large but I made it work. It was a good way to use up some old Christmas patterned papers!

STAMPS
: Larger Than Life: Peace Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Pure Poppy, Honey Nut, Cocoa Bean (PTI); Bundled Sage, Rustic Wilderness, Peeled Paint distress inks (Ranger).
PAPER: Holly Day Wishes 6x6 pad (Recollections); Classic Kraft, Stamper's Select White, True Black (PTI); Red glitter card stock.
DIES: Botanicuts: Pine Bough (The Greetery);  Love to Layer: Ornament (PTI); Stitched Square & Banner Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: A Little Sketchy stencil (PTI); Gold cording.
That's it for now. What a bitter cold day...windy, rainy and temps never out of the 30's!  ~Wanda

Tic Tac Toe Challenge

It's a lazy Friday after being ultra busy on Thanksgiving day. Only got into the 30's today and I hibernated where it was warm and got crafty after watering plants and rearranging some Christmas decorations. I played along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge where I used the left vertical row of embellishment, gold and navy. This alcohol ink background has been in my leftover pile for a long time, so decided I'd make it work for this challenge.

I die cut 3 different snowflakes then stamped the sentiment with Enchanted Evening (PTI) ink and added a button w/white thread.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Warmth (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Enchanted Evening (PTI); Alcohol inks.
PAPER: Yupo; Mirror Gold; Enchanted Evening, Stamper's Select Whte (PTI).
DIES: Layered Snowflakes: Drift, Crystal, Flurries (PTI); Stitched Rectangle and Banner Flags STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Button (PTI); White thread.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  ~Wanda

The Paper Players Challenge

The latest Paper Players challenge is a sketch challenge hosted by Ann. I found an old background that I hot foiled with matte white foil over Tropical Teal card stock. I received the Sizzix "Chilly and Freezy" thinlits dies as a freebie gift a couple of years ago and never used it! It's such a cute die set and fun to assemble.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Warmth (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versamark; Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Orange Zest, Canyon Clay (PTI).
PAPER: Tropical Teal, True Black, Stampers Select White (PTI).

Just Us Girls Challenge

It's mood board week at Just Us Girls. I was inspired by the rustic star in the photo, so went with Papertrey Ink's Rustic Wood Star die set. I cut all the elements from white paper then color blended with dye inks. No stamps were used.
PAPER: Scrapbook Paper 6x6 (Horizon); Stamper's Select White (PTI); Gold.
INK: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Pinefeather, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Honey Nut, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate (PTI).
DIES: Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals, Border Bling: Joy Frame, Rustic Wood Star (Papertrey Ink).

The corners were rounded with a "chomper" tool to soften the look.

That's all for now. Have a great day!  ~Wanda

Bundle of Joy

I wanted to add a couple of baby cards to my daughter's card stash (she uses them for employees she supervises as a nurse manager). The Sweet Baby Bib die set from Papertrey Ink is always a go-to for me! I used patterned papers from Taylored Expressions. This qualifies for the Just Add Ink challenge where stencils &/or dies are to be used (one or both...I just used dies). No stamps used!

DIES: Love to Layer: Scalloped Ovals, Sweet Baby Bib, Line It Up: Baby (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: 6x6 pad by Taylored Expressions.

S'more Love at Christmas

I was inspired to pull out an old set from The Greetery called S'more Holiday when I saw this photo for the {PIN}spirational Challenge. I stuck with my goal to create at least 2 or 3 of the same design so I can get my Christmas card stash completed. I'm nearing the end with that last count at 50.

I CASEd a card by Kay Miller and changed up the background stenciling and used different foliage dies.

STAMPS: S'more Holiday (The Greetery).
INK: Berrylicious, Warm Buff (Pinkfresh Studio); Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Vintage Jadeite, Pinefeather, Ocean Tides, Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen, Classic Kraft.

Word Art Wednesday

Good day everyone! It's time for a new Word Art Wednesday challenge and our inspiration verses are from Psalm 95:2-3. I send out Thanksgiving cards to a few folks and this will be one of them.

I printed the sentiment at 50% of the given size then stenciled over it using Papertrey Ink's Wandering Petals Collection. I sponged the edges of the frame with Dark Chocolate ink (PTI).

PAPER: Fall 6x6 pad (Echo Park); Stamper's Select White (PTI).
INK: Canyon Clay, Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate (PTI).
DIES: Mix & Mat: Plaid die (PTI).
OTHER: Wandering Petals stencil collection (PTI).

Our sponsor for this challenge is Creative Worship Stamps (formerly Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps). Come play along with us for a chance to win a gift card! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #845

Wow...I'm having a hard time thinking about this being the last Color Throwdown Challenge! It was the consensus of the team to bring this long running challenge of 15 years to a close. Our lives have taken a variety of directions and the team was in agreement to "wind it down and let it go". I wanted to use these colors and end on a positive vibe with this beautiful verse of thanksgiving and praise that was part of the Psalm Reflections series at Papertrey Ink.

I CASEd a card on the PTI website and do not know which designer was my inspiration. The leaf frame was cut from watercolor paper where I color blended Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin and Crushed Olive distress oxide inks.

STAMPS: Psalm Reflections: August (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versamark; Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin, Crushed Olive distress oxide inks (Ranger).
PAPER: True Black, Classic Kraft (PTI); Ranger watercolor paper.
DIES: Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Border Bling: Falling Leaves (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Queen's Gold embossing powder (Ranger).

We would LOVE to see a huge turnout for our last challenge! Hope to see you in the gallery!  ~Wanda
