I am in love with Cecile's great layout for the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge! I immediately thought of this Girl's Best Friend Diamond die by Lil Inker Designs. I paired it with a diamond background stamp from WPlus9's Just Geometrics: Triangles stamp set. The sentiment is from WPlus9's Sparkle and Shine set. The water colored leaves and stitched bloom were in my leftover pile (dies by My Favorite Things).
I used Peacock Feathers distress oxide ink for the triangles. This was a quick and easy design since my leftover pile came to the rescue once again.
Today was another day in the radiation oncology department. I'm down to 9 more treatments and will then be essentially finished with the different steps in my breast cancer treatment. There will be a long term oral medication, but the chemotherapy, surgeries and radiation will all be history before long and I will be doing a happy dance for sure!
Hi everyone! It's yours truly hosting this week's Color Throwdown Challenge with dark pink, gray and black! I will hate to see Valentine's Day be over since I love creating with hearts! I opted to go with a brushed silver metallic cardstock for the base in lieu of gray.
I love the subtle texture that this diagonal stitched cover plate die by Reverse Confetti adds to the base layer! I used Wild Plum alcohol ink and Silver Mixative to create the marbled background on Yupo paper. The Falling Hearts Panel (Reverse Confetti) was paired with this fun sentiment from RC's Crazy About You stamp set and stamped with their Magenta ink.

I used the Kitty Hugger stamps and die by Lil Inker Designs last year and adhered them to heart-shaped Valentine cards. This year I went with a tag creation to add to our gifts for our grands! I used small adhesive dots to adhere the paws to the candy. You will need something that really holds "tight" since simple glue just doesn't work well. The tag dies are by My Favorite Things. I had made some extras and took them to my radiation appointment this morning and handed them out to several of the technicians who have young children. I also gave away some extra Valentine cards to radiation staff. I told them there would be no excuse for any of them not to give a card to a special person in their life - lol!
Good Monday everyone! It's a brisk and very cold day here in VA but I've got some spring colors on my card that will hopefully warm me up in spite of the winter weather watch that's happening! I'm playing along with the Sunday Stamps Challenge which has a wonderful sketch.
I'm also entering the newest challenge on the Papertrey Ink blog which is called Win It Wednesday. It will be a weekly post with challenges, contests and giveaways. This week it's "Laurie's Fabulous Favorites" and Laurie Schmidlin is challenging us to use a fave set to create a card. I'm in love with the 4 step stamping with PTI's Love in Bloom set, so that's what I chose.

Good Sunday everyone! It's color challenge week at The Paper Players Challenge and Laurie has a pretty combo of Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. I created the floral background using Melon Mambo ink (SU) and stamped each image three times using a MISTI. I then die cut the panel using Reverse Confetti's Pierced Round Top Layers die.
The photo doesn't show it well, but the sentiment was silver embossed on a heavy weight vellum which was layered over a white strip and adhered with the 4 brads. The lighter gray dots are from Simon Says Stamp's "We Can Do This" stamp set using Hickory Smoke distress ink. The darker gray is featured in the tiny scalloped borders. I'm not sure why both my Smoky Slate and Basic Gray inks by SU are being contrary. The one is barely visible and the other pad is totally dried up and I never got around to replacing it - ugh! I was not planning to add sequins, but thanks to an ink smear, they were used to remedy the goof. For a simple card, I had my share of challenges with this one - lol!

I'm squeezing in some more heart cards before Valentine's Day passes us by and am entering this into the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #308. It's a repeat layout from the retro challenge #33. I once again went to Reverse Confetti's Patterned Hearts stamp set and used papers from their 6x6" pad called From Cupid. Matching inks used were Coral and Lead - also by RC.
I first added the embossed stitching detail (RC's Edge Essentials dies) to better balance out the design. It still seemed too unbalanced for my eye, so I added the narrow coral stripe. Ahhh...much better!
Our warm weather in VA this past week appears to be history, so it's back to warm layers again as I head out to tackle errands. If you are looking for a great movie, I would highly recommend The Up Side which is based on a true story of an ex-con recently out on parole getting hired by a billionaire quadriplegic. I had a special interest in the movie since I worked with spinal cord injured patients at a rehabilitation center > 40 years! It will make you laugh...cry...and hopefully glad you saw it! If nothing else...you know you want some movie theater buttered popcorn! Haha!
There's a unique new sketch happening on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog! For some reason, the many circles reminded me of this confetti die by Reverse Confetti, so I went with an ocean theme when I found this old panel I created probably two years ago with a gelli roller! Instead of confetti, I'm thinking of the die as ocean bubbles - lol! I love this sand dollar die (also by RC) and sponged the edges with Sahara Sand ink (how ironic to use that ink)!
The card base is a linen textured piece of cardstock in my massive leftover pile, so I'm not sure of its source. I sprayed Smooch Spritz over the painted panel but the photograph doesn't pick up on the shimmery detail. I cut off the prongs of the brad and adhered it to the sentiment strip with an adhesive dot.
