Paper Players Water Sports Theme

Good Sunday everyone! It's theme week at The Paper Players Challenge blog and Laurie has chosen "Water Sports" for our theme. While I initially dreamed of beautiful sunsets with ships on the sea, I decided to go with these cute critters from Reverse Confetti's The Greatest Adventure set and arranged them in tag format as the focal point.

I colored with Copics and sponged Iced Aqua ink (RC) on the clouds. The sentiment is white embossed on navy blue CS.  Here's what else I used...
STAMPS: The Greatest Adventure (Reverse Confetti).
PAPER: Sweet Stripes 6x6 patterned paper by RC; Iced Aqua, Buttercup, Bumblebee Yellow, Navy Blue by RC; White by PTI.
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black; Iced Aqua (RC).
DIES: Grid Stitched Tag, Over the Rainbow and The Greatest Adventure by RC; Stitched Sentiment Strips and Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-Namics by MFT.

Ways To Use It: Stripes

I had this stenciled striped background done some time ago and just never got the card completed to post until I saw the Ways To Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers was to use stripes as the focus. That got me to finally finishing this project up!

Stamps: Comforting Commands (The Greetery)

Freshly Made Sketches

This has been a most confusing week with the July 4th holiday falling on a Thursday! It felt like a Saturday and now I'm adjusting to the fact that it's Friday - lol! I couldn't wait to ink up this new Flowers in Bloom set by My Favorite Things and paired it up with a Hello sentiment die from Simon Says Stamp and a background die - Square and Circle Frame - from Reverse Confetti! I thought the die was perfect for the layout of the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I stamped the image twice with my MISTI using Memento Tuxedo Black, then stamped a third time with Versamark so I could clear emboss it. This makes it easier to color with Zig watercolor brush markers.  The blooms remind me of poppies which is why I colored them with orange/red hues.  The background color is Iced Aqua CS by Reverse Confetti.

OK...now for some housework. Yes, I'd rather be stamping.

Poinsettia and Stripes

I neglected to get this on my blog yesterday, so will add a quick post today. It's been a LONG time since I've played with the Tuesday color challenge on Splitcoaststampers, but the light and dark pink with a fresh summery shade of green were too hard to resist! Using stripes and creating a Christmas card were optional and I decided to use both options to get my Christmas stash going. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics.

STAMPS: Poinsettia and Pine (Altenew).
PAPER: Sweet Tooth (MFT), True Black (PTI).
DIES: Poinsettia and Pine, Watercolor Stripes Cover Die by Altenew.

Remembering Jojot

My card is made in remembrance of Joanne Grzelak (known on Splitcoaststampers as jojot) who recently passed away! My immediate memories of her include her love of the ocean, use of black/red/white color combo and the frequent use of this corner punch (don't know its official name but I've always dubbed it the dimpled corner punch). She was a member of the CCEE design team and you can read more details in THIS POST.

I did some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks (Fossilized Amber, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch) and Picket Fence brushes. I used my MISTI to stamp the images three times to get a good solid black result. A little striped border and some yellow twine finished off this quick and simple design!

STAMPS: The Sea (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps).
PAPER: Black and White Stripes (My Favorite Things), Sweet Tooth (MFT).

Thanks for stopping by...it's mammogram and bone density testing day for me today, so I'm praying for good results.      ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #550

Hello everyone! It's my turn to host the Color Throwdown Challenge and I'm hoping you will love the colors - red, green, black, white - as much as I do! The watermelon cake inspired me to take a literal spin on the photo and go with these fun watermelon slice dies by My Favorite Things!  I'm also finally inking up this All Lined Up background stamp which adds a ginghamy (how's that for a new word?!) feel which pairs nicely with a watermelon picnic!

I wanted a mottled, realistic look to my watermelon slices so started with watercolor paper by Ranger. I smooshed 3 distress oxide colors (Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple, Barn Door) on my glass work mat, spritzed with water then picked up the colors using a wet brush.  The rind was created by brushing Mowed Lawn distress oxide ink stripes over Sour Apple cardstock (MFT).  I used Granny Apple Green ink by SU for the background stamp and was disappointed that it shows up like a darker Wild Wasabi or Garden Green shade. Very disappointed that I spent money on this ink that isn't true to the package color!

STAMPS: All Lined Up Background, Sweet Sentiments (MFT).
PAPER: Sweet Tooth, Sour Apple (MFT); True Black (PTI); Ranger watercolor CS.
DIES: Watermelon Slice, Stitched Basic Edges, Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics by MFT.

We'd love to have you play along with us! For more inspiration, you can check out the great projects by our design team:

Oh, Baby!

A new month means there is a new theme for the Stock Your Stash challenge on the Reverse Confetti blog! It's been a long time since I've inked up the cute onesies in their Cute As A Button set. I paired "The Snuggle is Real" with the "Oh, Baby" sentiment from RC's Beautiful Banners stamp set. My photo makes the pinks seem to clash, but they really do blend together IRL!

STAMPS: Cute As A Button, Beautiful Banners (Reverse Confetti).
PAPER: Fun Times 6x6 patterned paper by RC; Piggy Bank by RC; True Black and White by PTI.
INK: Piggy Bank (Reverse Confetti), Versamark.
DIES: Gift Card Holder Tag, Hangups, Cute As A Button (RC).
