Mojo Monday

Hi everyone! Here's my take on the new Mojo Monday Challenge.  As you can see, I took a break from my recent run of Valentine creations. The long panel was perfect for this Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane stamp by Verve (oops...I see it's temporarily sold out but a new shipment is due in February)! It's a very straightforward, no fuss type of card and I wanted it to be masculine yet have a pop of color.  I thought these SU Retro Fresh papers fit the bill and then I found this Recollections embellishment that was a perfect color match!

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge

February can be such a drab, dreary month but there's nothing drab or dreary going on in my stamp room today! I'm celebrating! Ever lose a VERY important LITTLE stamp???  I did just that yesterday and it was driving me crazy trying to search for it!  I even went through my entire trash basket - piece by piece!  I came home from work this evening and searched one more time and this time...I FOUND IT!!!  It may seem trivial to most people, but I'm sure my crafty friends can relate. :-)  That's why I went with happy, springtime colors for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge!  I'm also entering this into Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge with an "all things bright and beautiful" theme!

This Sour Apple CS from MFT is probably my fave green ever!  I layered up a couple of flag banners using papers from Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely Mini Deck pad.  The doily, leafy flourish and rolled florals are all Die-Namics by MFT.  The sentiment is from an oldie but goodie MFT set called "Spring".  Thanks so much for stopping by...

Color Throwdown

Are you ready for some awesome new Color Throwdown Challenge colors?  Bar is our hostess and she's chosen green, light blue, orange and dark blue.  So...I goofed and interpreted it as black.  Well...we say to use something close, so I'm calling this close - lol!  I was inspired by a video on Jennifer McGuire's blog that featured Dawn Woleslagle showing how to stamp florals and leaves with WPlus9 Pure Color dye inks then adding details and shading with Copics.  Let's just say I have a lot of practicing to do yet!

While the leaves suited me OK, the flowers just didn't have enough definition.  The ink just wanted to bleed more than I liked and appeared too blurry.  The next morning, I came back to the card and stamped the second detailed image using Crisp Cantaloupe by SU and then the definition was visible.  Some stamped off splat images and some sequins finished it off.

Hound Dogs on Houndstooth

I'm finally inking up these sweet pups from Reverse Confetti's Puppy Love set and playing along with the Retrosketches Challenge.  After stamping and coloring the images with Copics, I lined up the coordinating dies to cut them out.  Papers are from My Mind's Eye "Filled With Love" 6x6 pad.

I was also inspired by the colors in the current
Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: pink and red with a pop of black.

On a side note...if you're needing some new watermarks, you'll want to check out Karen Giron's updated selection on her blog HERE!  I don't have the patience to spend hours figuring out how to create them myself, so IMO it's worth the $3 per watermark! :-)

Mojo Monday

Hello everyone! February is here (yay...we are closer to spring!)  and another Mojo Monday sketch challenge is on board!  Remember, you have a chance to win some new Verve if you play along, so be sure and link up your creations on the Mojo Monday blog!

I LOVE using hearts on cards and can never get enough of them!
Using very traditional colors, I chose papers from MME's "Filled With Love" paper pad.  The design of this great sentiment from Verve's Stronger Love set was perfect for the sketch layout...leaving the corner to fill up with a heart collage. I popped the two hearts - from Verve's More Than Love set - and clear embossed after stamping with Riding Hood Red ink.  I wanted some sparkle, so had to have a silver glitter heart - die cut with Verve's Wavy Hearts die set.  The arrow is a die from Reverse Confetti.

February Release Time at ODBD!

Can you believe another month has rolled around already?  Well, ready or not...February 1st is here and that means it's release day at Our Daily Bread Designs!

Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the design team cards!  You have until February 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EST to leave your comments on the designers' blogs for a chance to win!  The winners will be posted on the ODBD blog on February 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

I'm shakin' it up in my first card and using the new Happy Birthday dies!  With shaker cards making a comeback in the paper crafting world, I thought I'd go with some clear, white and gold sequins behind the acetate panel.  I continued with the gold theme by using metallic gold cardstock for the letters.  The sweet little balloons were die cut with some coordinating patterned papers.

My next card features the new Miss You stamp set with this
beautiful wildflower silhouette image and 1 of 5 sentiments.  The Queen Ann's Lace reminds me of childhood days when I would cut bouquets of them in neighboring fields and put them into several different jars with colored water and watch the osmosis change them into varying colors!  Ahhh...the good ole days of simple joys!

I chose to add the sentiment to a vellum mini tag...also from ODBD's die collection.  I sponged Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Old Olive inks onto white cardstock and masked the sun.

You will want to check out the other designers' beautiful samples by going to the Our Daily Bread Designs blog...or...you can click on their individual blogs below.
