Retro Sketch

I'm coming down to the wire with the Retro Sketch Challenge, but couldn't resist this great layout!
I needed a graduation card for a co-worker's daughter and thought this might fit the bill.   Pretty straightforward and simple...check out the supply list to see what I used.

STAMPS: For the Graduate (PTI), Arrows 'n Elements (Reverse Confetti) - tiny striped flag.
PAPER: "Pride" collection by Authentique, Vintage Cream (PTI).
ACCESSORIES: Starry Night EF by Craft Concepts, Corner Chomper, Button by PTI, Circle Nestie.
INK: Real Red, Night of Navy.

Mix-Ability With Napkins

Trudy has a fun Mix-Ability Challenge on SCS to use tissue or napkins on our creations! I separated the napkin and only used the top, printed layer.  I decoupaged it to white CS using Claudine Hellmuth Studio multi-medium matte gel.  After it dried, I cut it to size and chomped the corners, then added a popped sentiment and a felt flower embellishment that I found in the bridal aisle at Michael's.  Quick and easy and fun!

STAMPS: Vintage Labels (SU)
INK: Lucky Limeade, Versafine Onyx Black.

Deconstructed Sketch

Yay! The sun is out and I'm using some sunny papers for my interpretation of Jen's latest Deconstructed Sketch Challenge!  I initiated some new Reverse Confetti stamps that arrived in the
mail yesterday (BTW...they have super duper fast shipping).  The honeycomb pattern in the DP inspired me to use the hexagon border Die-Namics from MFT and also Spellbinder's Hexagon Nestabilities.  I'm having trouble finding my mojo...not exactly thrilled with this one, but it is what it is. :-) #justsayin'

STAMPS: Arrows 'n Elements (Reverse Confetti)
PAPER: Seasons: Summer (Authentique), White (PTI)
INK: Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight

Happy 5th Anniversary CTD!

Hi everyone and welcome to...
Color Throwdown's 5th anniversary celebration!
There are lots of great prizes to be won - thanks to many generous companies who have donated for this special milestone!  We also have former design team members who are playing along and you don't want to miss their inspiring creations!
For all the details and links...please visit the Color Throwdown blog.

Here's my interpretation of Lori's fun colors based on the summery flip flops photo.   I used MFT's Peek-a-boo Dots Die-Namics and "lined" the card with Bermuda Bay CS.  The peonies were stamped off once for the base color, then full Melon Mambo ink stamped on top.  For the roses, I used Daffodil Delight ink for the base stamp and So Saffron for the second stamping.  I did NOT want to frame the sentiment, but I goofed by pushing too hard when I stamped the sentiment, so had to cover up the mistake with the framed version...grrrrr!

STAMPS: Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2 by PTI
PAPER: Kraft (PTI), Bermuda Bay (SU), White (PTI), Black (PTI)
INK: Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, Versafine Onyx Black

With a family wedding and vacation going on last week, I failed to recognize our July guest designer, Stacey Schafer!  Be sure and visit her blog to see her awesome creation for today's colors!  It's also her birthday today...so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STACEY!

So...don't miss out on the chance to win some great stamping goodies!  Looking forward to seeing what you create!

Mojo Monday

Good Monday morning everyone! I'm ba-a-ack! I've been pretty scarce in blog land with our middle son's wedding on June 30th and then we were on vacation at the Outer Banks in NC!  But now I'm back to reality and I have missed my stamp room!  As you can see I'm still in "beach mode" with my card!  Julee has another fabulous layout for us for Mojo Monday #301, and it was perfect to use my new "Beach Waves" embossing folder I found at Beach Memories - a scrapbooking store I love to visit when I'm at Nagshead!  It's by Darice which is a new company to me and I love the deep, crisp embossing that it produces!  Papers are from Carta Bella's "Beach Boardwalk" 6x6 pad - another find at Beach Memories.  I colored the surfboard with Copics (YR21, YR23, BG70, BG72, B97) and then added some Clear Star gelly roll ink that is sparkly to the itty bitty stars.  I tied 3 knots randomly in some white yarn and adhered them to the card using tiny glue dots.  The sun was fussy cut and popped with a foam dot.

Wasn't last week fun with the big Mojo 300 celebration?!  I was sorry I was unable to comment on more creations, but did enjoy seeing everyone's entries!  Here's to looking forward to the next 300!

STAMPS: Learning to Sail (Verve), Strong Anchor (Verve)
INK: Night of Navy.
ACCESSORIES: Fishtail Flags Die-Namics (MFT), Circle Nestabilities, Beach Waves EF (Darice).

Color Throwdown & Big Celebration!

Happy Wednesday to everyone! We've got a super combination of patriotic colors for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge...compliments of the talented Joan! Isn't that a yummy inspiration photo as well?!

I went with some fun papers from We R Memory Keepers' "Yankee Doodles" 6x6 pad!  I'll admit there's only a teensy bit of the greenish blue on board - check out the Island Lagoon rhinestones by Kaiser! :-)  Now, you've got to have some sparkle when you're celebrating, so I used the stars Die-Namics from MFT with silver glitter CS by SU.  I popped some of the stars with foam dots.  The sentiment is from Verve's American Hero set and the stamped frame is from Verve's Tag Time set.  The Curvy Bookplate die (Verve) was used to cut out the sentiment.

We in the states may be celebrating the 4th of July holiday this week, but next week there will be another super celebration that you won't want to miss!
It will be Color Throwdown's 5th anniversary!!!!!
The design team members have been busy behind the scenes and we have a fabulous list of prizes to be given out to some lucky participants in next week's challenge (thanks to some very generous company donors which we'll announce next week)!  I'm excited and hope you will join us and spread the word!  In the meantime...head over to the Color Throwdown blog and check out the DT's inspiration photos...then get creative yourself!

Mojo 300

Hi, everyone! This week we’re celebrating our 300th Mojo Monday sketch by offering 30 prizes for participants! Congrats to Julee on this fabulous milestone!  Play along with our Mojo Monday 300 sketch and link it up to the Mojo Monday linky entry form and you’ll be in the drawing for some fabulous papercrafting goodies! For all the details, a list of prizes from over 20 different companies and some fabulous samples using the Mojo 300 sketch, head on over to the Mojo Monday blog.

I had a fun time mixing and matching stamps from FOUR different Verve sets to celebrate this special milestone!
I wanted to create my own mixed media style background...fun but messy!  I dabbed three different Tim Holtz distress paints on a paper plate: Spun Sugar, Peeled Paint, and Picket Fence.  I then dragged a piece of white CS through the paints and also used a stipple tool to add a bit more pink.  After drying it with my heat tool, I stippled some thinned out Picket Fence paint using a hexagon stencil and stencil brush.  The long, vertical banner is actually two small stamped banners from the "Remember This" set that I taped together.  The flower from "Hope Blooms" was stamped on a textured pink CS, cut out and layered.  I like to cut the petals down to the flower center and then ruffle them up a bit to add some dimension.  Leaves are from "Sunny Days" and the sentiment is from "Joyful Blooms".  The Charles embossing folder is my newest toy from Cuttlebug.

So, what are you waiting on?  Join in on the PARTY!!   Good luck!
