Casing Julie

Julie (UKJem) is the featured stamper on SCS this week and WOW...is her gallery ever amazing! I loved her white on white cards with a variety of embossing and textures that were lightly sponged! For my CASE, I changed the layout, used different EFs & floral dies. I'll definitely be going back to her site for more inspiration in the future! This card is also for Paper Sundaes Challenge to use circles (large dotted circles EF, round brads, pearls, circular flowers) and for The Shabby Tea Room Challenge to use a sketch by Pattie. I used 3 different CB embossing folders. The flowers were die cut using a PTI flower die, then sponged and curled gently around a stylus. The scallop edge punch (SU) and frond punch (MS) were also used. Everything was sponged with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink. Well, I just loved all the fun products for infants and children in the Stephen Joseph Gifts website! Now all I need are some grands to buy for - lol! I chose this flower bib for my subject/theme inspiration and then Maria's gorgeous picture was my inspiration for the colors. Michael's has a new Kelly Panacci die-cut pad by K&Co that already has the bottom shape cut out for you...makes it so easy to put a card together! I also found this adorable little birdcage stamp in the dollar bin at Mike's, which I cut out and popped with foam dots. I hung the cage on a branch from SU's versatile Thoughts & Prayers set, then I added small punched flowers with gold pearls added to the centers. I had a small piece of lace that was just enough to add in the BG. There you have it...one card...three fun challenges! Have to work this afternoon, so no more play time for me. Enjoy your weekend!

Viva la Verve & F4A

Charmaine has a fabulous sketch for the Viva la Verve challenge on the Verve forum on SCS! This card is also for the Free 4 All Challenge on SCS - must have something pink, something purple and a heart. In the process of hunting for a missing EF in my less than tidy work space, I came across this white panel with square lattice embossing already done...quick step! I then used images from 3 different Verve sets to complete the card (can ya tell I love Verve?!). BTW, Julee has a new release party this evening on the Verve forum...can't wait to see all the new sets, because the divas have been rockin' out some really great samples! Those enablers! Back to my card...the flowers were colored with Copics (R81, BV02, BV04), cut out and popped with foam dots. I added Diamond stickles to the centers and then forgot it wasn't dry and smeared it everywhere when I put the card on the base. Tip to self: PUT THE STICKLES ON LAST! The heart is there...dangling in the lower left corner. :-) Small, but it's there. I need lots of birthday cards in the next month, so this will add to my stash.

Stylish Blogger Award

I had a lovely surprise when I found out a new cyber friend sent me this Stylish Blogger award! Thanks to Jenny from Australia who is an awesome Copic colorer and has a most stylish blog herself! Check out Craft by Jenny for inspiration!
So, now I am to share 8 things about myself...
1. I like my job as a rehabilitation nurse - even after working at the same rehab center for 35 years!
2. One of my goals for this year is to organize my very tiny stamping area (again!) without buying a new house - lol!
3. I think journaling and preserving family memories through pics, scrapbooking, etc. is so important!
4. I'm in the process of spiffing up our bare Sunday School youth room at church from builder beige to turquoise and lime green! It's wild but the girls love it!
5. If I wasn't a nurse, I would love to be an interior decorator...I'm always changing up rooms in my house and also in my workplace.
6. I've only been blogging for a year, but I love learning to know new people through their blogs and am always striving to improve mine.
7. I especially love adding to the Tips/Tutorials tab at the top of my blog...it makes it so easy to click on tutes that I need to refresh my memory.
8. I'm not a rambler or ad libber...I pretty much cut to the chase when I write or talk! :-)

Nurse in Pink

My Favorite Things has a new twist to their Wednesday Stamp Club...they're getting sketchy! Every Wednesday a new sketch will be posted and this week's was a fun one! I went all out using MFT products: the DP, the image and a Die-namic border. I love this PI nurse (I can relate - lol!) and thought she'd look good in a paper-pieced uniform. I cut out the chart, popped it with foam dots and added a mini library clip. The flower was hand-crocheted by my mother and since her death this past October, I'm reluctant to use them up, but couldn't resist...thought it was perfect for this color combo.
