WAW John 3:16 Blog Hop

Welcome to another Word Art Wednesday challenge! This time we have John 3:16 - a most memorable verse - with a generous sponsor in Unity Stamps. They are offering $25 x 2 (yes, there will be two winners)! This is in addition to prizes being offered from each blog in the annual hop!

I added eucalyptus sprays to the frame after stamping them with multiple distress inks and spritzing lightly with water prior to stamping them onto watercolor paper. The spritzing gives the images a mottled look. The background was lightly stenciled with a script stencil.

STAMPS: Eucalyptus Silhouettes (Stamp Simply).
INK: Salvaged Patina, Speckled Egg, Iced Spruce, Weathered Wood, Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters distress inks by Ranger. Sentiment was computer generated.
PAPER: Stampers Select White (Papertrey Ink); Water color paper (Ranger); Mint Melody (retired SU).
DIES: Eucalyptus Silhouettes (Stamp Simply); Love to Layer: Lovely Bracket (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Enamel dots; Script stencil 6x6" (Hero Arts).

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!  The prize on my blog stop is a stamp set from Gina K Designs, Kokorosa Summer die cut set, and some floral ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Freshly Made Sketches

Good Saturday everyone! I created this mini slimline card for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. It's a very simple design with several layering steps. I used a very old piece of vellum with white swirls and then added some circles and glittery snowflakes. The sentiment is popped up with foam tape.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Warmth (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Sno Cone Poptone Collection by Cardstock Warehouse Paper Co.; Swirl Vellum (retired Stampin' Up); Stamper's Select White (PTI); Silver glitter paper.
DIES: Starflakes (PTI); Mini Slimline Essential Bundle (Pinkfresh Studio); Banner Flags STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

Don't know about you, but this week will be an extra busy one for me. We will be celebrating Christmas next Saturday with our kids and grandkids, so lots of cooking and grocery shopping will be on my agenda. Gifts are ready to go and house is cleaned thanks to a cleaning lady who comes about 4 to 5 times a year. Thanks for stopping by...

Color Throwdown #823

This is the last Color Throwdown  challenge for the year. We are taking a brief break over the holidays and will resume on the first Wednesday in January.  I am loving these new patterned tree dies just released from Papertrey Ink. I seem to be on a pink and green kick for my Christmas cards this year!

I realized I forgot to add the gold glitter pen accents to the stars prior to taking the photographs. The ink is Harvest Gold so that counts...right?

STAMPS: Trees 'n Patterns (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum, Raspberry Bliss, Olive (Pinkfresh Studio); Vintage Jadeite, Honey Nut, Harvest Gold (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Bitty Big: Mint Julep (PTI).
DIES: Trees 'n Patterns, Reflections: November, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles (PTI); Oval Infinity dies (Hero Arts).

We'd love to have you play along with our challenge! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Christmas Blessings Card

I'm entering this card into the Merry Little Christmas Challenge where "anything goes Christmas" this time around! I created 4 very similar snowflake cards using the new Build A Snowflake die set just released from Papertrey Ink.

The base layer was a striped paper from the Bitty Big: Mint Julep collection by Papertrey Ink. I then layered an embossed white panel with a gorgeous Eyelet Lace EF from Honeybee Stamps. The snowflakes were framed with the medium sized die Border Bling: Skinny Ric Rac (PTI) and topped off with some die cut holly and berries.

The sentiment was silver embossed and popped with foam tape.

STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery); Corner It: Holly (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Vintage Jadeite, New Leaf, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Vintage Jadeite, Bitty Big: Mint Julep (PTI); Silver glitter paper.
DIES: Build A Snowflake, Corner It: Holly, Border Bling: Skinny Ric Rac (PTI); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).
OTHER: Eyelet Lace embossing folder; Silver embossing powder.

Inspired By: Gifting

It's a bitterly cold and windy day today. I'm fighting off a nasty cold so I'm hunkering down and created 3 gift cards that are a mini slimline size. Perfect to give cash!  I was inspired by the tags and pine cones in the image for the current Inspired By challenge which has a gifting theme. I played with a recently gifted die set from Tim Holtz.

I started by stenciling white ink onto kraft paper for the background. I then added two different layers of washi tape for the "ribbon". I cut all the die elements from white card stock then color blended.

STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery).
INK: Color Box "Frost White" pigment ink; Ground Espresso distress ink (splatters on pine cone); Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate, Cocoa Bean, Classic Kraft, Pinefeather, Ocean Tides, Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Kraft (My Favorite Things); Stamper's Select White (PTI).
DIES: Mini Essential Slimline Bundle (Pinkfresh Studio); Holiday Brushstroke #2 Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits; Traditional Tags STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Holiday Berries stencil (Papertrey Ink); Gold cording.

Hope you are staying warm in your corner of the world!  ~Wanda

Word Art Wednesday

It's time for a new
Word Art Wednesday challenge! This time we have a verse from Matthew 5:14 and it inspired me to create a village of houses on snowy hills. Our sponsor is Lawn Fawn and they will be giving away a $25 gift card to some blessed participant! I used patterned papers from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Christmas 6x6" petite paper pack. I loved the variety of fonts on the vertical version of the verse but couldn't make it fit with the scene I had made. I re-typed it in a Word document and die cut it using a tag die.

Each house was backed by Lemon Tart paper to give it a "lighted" look. I debated about coloring the houses and trees but opted for a clean, all white look to give more emphasis to the "lights" in the houses.

No stamps or inks were used.
PAPER: Stampers Select White (Papertrey Ink); Perfectly Plaid Christmas 6x6" paper pack (Lawn Fawn).
DIES: Bring Home the Holidays, Starry Night, Beautiful Bouquet Tag (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Gold cording.
We'd love to have you join us! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #822

Good Wednesday crafty friends! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge with the colors of red, green and cream. I'm still needing a few Christmas cards and thought this could pass for one with the "joy" sentiment. I love this Into the Blooms: Wreath die set by Papertrey Ink and layered it over a stenciled script panel.

Here is what I used:

STAMPS: Merry Berry Wreath (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Brushed Corduroy distress (Ranger); Pure Poppy, Bright Buttercup, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Olive Twist, Pinefeather (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Rustic Cream, Stamper's Select White (PTI).
DIES: Into the Blooms: Wreath, Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs, Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Love to Layer: Deckled Edge (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Script Stencil (Hero Arts).

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you in the throwdown gallery!  ~Wanda

SSS Monday Challenge

The SSS Monday Challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp blog is to "Make It Sparkle". I've been enjoying creating cards using the new Trees 'n Patterns stamps & dies from the November release at Papertrey Ink. This is a clean and simple card with only a die cut snowflake frame with a single tree as the focal point and then topped off with a sparkly sentiment that is an OLD word die set from PTI (I got this so long ago and never labeled the bag it's in, so who knows what it is called - lol).

STAMPS: Trees 'n Patterns (PTI).
INK: Vintage Jadeite, New Leaf, Honey Nut, Harvest Gold (PTI dye inks); Olive (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: Hammermill White; Sno-Cone 65lb. Pop-Tone Collection from Cardstock Warehouse Paper Company; Gold glitter paper.
DIES: Trees 'n Patterns, Snowflake Fun Frame, Christmas Sentiment word set (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

This is the closest I've found for a substitute for PTI's very LONG out of stock Aqua Mist. The paper is only 65lb which is not the weight of PTI card stock, but...it works OK if you layer it!

Stay warm everyone! We are having a really cold sub-freezing temp season here in VA for the past week!  Thanks for stopping by and commenting!  ~Wanda

I'm also using the layout for the current Freshly Made Sketches

challenge.

STAMPS:  Poinsettia & Pine (Altenew); Hear the Bells - sentiment (Papertrey Ink); With Love at Christmas - faux wax seal (The Greetery).
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles, Evergreen Bough distress; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Harvest Gold, Honey Nut (Papertrey Ink).
