The Paper Players

The Paper Players challenge has a sketch for us this week. I was recently cleaning out some craft drawers and files and came across some black patterned papers. I knew I wanted to add some daisies in white and omitted the sentiment for now which means I can add one depending on the occasion. All the florals were die cut first, then color blending with dye inks was completed.

The card base is 5" square.

STAMPS: TBD.
INK: New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, True Black (PTI); Patterned paper by Recollections.
DIES: Into the Blooms: Daisies, Love to Layer: Circles (PTI); Stitched Squares (Lil Inker Designs).

Thanks for stopping by!  ~Wanda

Tag It

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has a "tag it" theme this week. This tag has been in my leftover stash for a long time and finally I'm putting it onto a card base! The two layered tags were die cut from the Charming Tag set by Papertrey Ink then were layered with a crimped heart, some florals and bubble blower embellishment mix from Trinity Stamps. Ribbon and twine and a double layered sentiment finished it off.

STAMPS: Blossoming Branches (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Cocoa Bean (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Classic Kraft, Bitty Big: Amethyst Allure patterned papers (PTI).

OTHER: Crimper tool; Bubble Blower embellishments (Trinity Stamps); Sheer ribbon; Jute twine.

It's the end of a really hot day and looks like more hot days coming this week! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.  ~Wanda

Seize the Birthday

There's a retro theme happening at the current Seize the Birthday challenge. A typewriter is certainly a retro item for me! I recall getting a manual typewriter for Christmas as a young girl and I was so thrilled with that gift! It gave me the skills to type faster than anyone in my high school typing class - haha!  Guess I'm really dating myself! This card also uses the sketch at the Sunday Stamps challenge.

I love this stamp/die set from Sugar Pea Designs! I have a granddaughter with some mad writing skills and she enjoys creating "books" in her spare time. She has a birthday coming up next month and I'm thinking this will be her card.  I already had the hot foiled background (white matte foil on Soft Stone paper from Papertrey Ink - hot foil plate also from PTI) in my leftover pile.

STAMPS: Just My Type (Sugar Pea Designs).
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Lovely Lady, True Black, Soft Stone  (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Stitched Rectangle, Stitched Circle, Stitched Square STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Tag Sale: Quilted (PTI); Just My Type (Sugar Pea Designs).
OTHER: Hearts hot foil plate (PTI).

Sketch Saturday

I'm playing along with the current Sketch Saturday challenge with another card made from the Chocolate Flower kit from Altenew. I'm loving the deep texture that the 3D embossing folder adds plus the colors are a favorite for me. I was inspired by Little League baseball uniforms of all things! My husband and I enjoy watching these tournament games and I am often crafting as I have the TV on in the background. When trying to decide on colors, I saw the aqua and yellow uniforms and knew that was my choice! 😂

First, I stenciled the florals with dye inks then ran them through my Big Shot. It still amazes me that one large die cuts out ALL the flowers and leaves in one swipe!

STAMPS: Chocolate Flowers (Altenew).
INK: Lemon Whip, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard, Mint, Meadow, Waterfall, Turquoise, Paradise (Pinkfresh Studio); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers (Altenew); Reflections: July (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers stencils, Chocolate Flowers Geometric 3D embossing folder (Altenew).
That's it for now. Hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing Sunday!  ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

Judy has a great new sketch for us over on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog! I had this panel of alcohol inks in my leftover stash so measured the length and divided by 3 to get a trio of rectangles for the background. I went for this older silhouette die called Prim Poppy from Memory Box then finished it up by white embossing the sentiment.

STAMPS: This is Big Sentiments: Celebrate (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versamark; Alcohol inks in pink and green.
PAPER: Yupo; True Black (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Prim Poppy (Memory Box); This is Big Sentiments (PTI).
OTHER: Brutus Monroe Alabaster embossing powder.

Color Throwdown #807

It's Wednesday and that means there's a new Color Throwdown challenge happening! We have some great colors yet again - light blue, cream and kraft - brought to us by Lori. I recently acquired a couple of holiday postal collage stencil sets from Waffle Flower Crafts and knew right away these colors would work with the snow men!

I love how quickly these stencils create a fun base. The slimline dual-edged sponge daubers are also wonderful to use with smaller scale stenciling!

STAMPS: Postage Collage, Postage Collage North Pole (Waffle Flower).
INK: Sky Blue, Storm, Apricot, Doe (Pinkfresh Studio); Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink.
PAPER: Vintage Cream, Classic Kraft (Papertrey Ink); Soft Stripes 6x6 pad (My Favorite Things).
DIES: Postage Collage (Waffle Flower).
OTHER: Postage Collage Snowman stencil (Waffle Flower).

We hope you can join us in this challenge! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Die Cuts

The {Pin}spirational Challenge for August is to use die cuts! I use them on nearly all my cards so this was an easy challenge to go with. I recently bought the Chocolate Flowers Kit from Altenew and wow...so many great things in this kit!  I love that you first can stencil a large panel of florals and then you have the option to use just the background stencils OR you can use the large die cut that coordinates with these images and cuts out all the flowers and leaves in one swipe! This was my first try with this kit. It also includes some sentiment stamps.

STAMPS: Chocolate Flowers (Altenew).
INK: Cherry Blossom, Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, Mulberry Blush, Key Lime, Olive, Spruce Tips, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard (Pinkfresh Studio); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, True Black (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers (Altenew).
OTHER: Moonshine sequins (PTI); Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers stencils, Chocolate Flowers Geometric 3D embossing folder (Altenew).
You will be seeing more of this Chocolate Flower Kit so stay tuned!  😀   ~Wanda

SSS Monday Challenge

Welcome friends! It's Tuesday and a bit overcast, so am hoping for some more rain. I don't know why I've been gravitating to older Reverse Confetti dies and stamps lately. I loved Jen's company and was so disappointed when it closed. When I saw that the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge was to use alcohol inks, I pulled this panel from my leftover stash. It already had the falling hearts cover die adhered to it, so all I did was layer it onto a black and a green panel and add a sentiment.

STAMPS: Heart Filled Sentiments (Reverse Confetti).
INK: Versamark; Shades of pink and green alcohol inks.
PAPER: Yupo; Stamper's Select White, True Black (Papertrey Ink); Sour Apple (My Favorite Things).
DIES: Love to Layer: Rectangle (PTI); Crimped Rectangle (The Greetery); Falling Hearts Panel (Reverse Confetti).
OTHER: Brutus Monroe Alabaster embossing powder.

Sweet Birthday

The Paper Players challenge is asking us to create a CAS design with a fruit theme. One of my favorite summertime dies is the watermelon slices set from My Favorite Things. I smooshed a variety of distress inks onto my glass mat then "picked up" the colors using Ranger water color paper. The "bite" die is such a fun detail!

STAMPS: Sweet Sentiments (My Favorite Things).
INK: Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness distress inks (Ranger); Versamark.
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, True Black (Papertrey Ink); Licorice 6x6 pad by Bazzill Basics Paper.
DIES: Watermelon Slice, Layered Tags, Stitched Rectangle STAX, Blueprints 27, Sweet Sentiments (MFT).
OTHER: Black thread; White embossing powder.

Just Add Ink

I finally used this basket die from The Greetery after buying it a couple months ago. I wanted to fill it with lilacs in different shades of purple and this fit the new Just Add Ink challenge where we are to concentrate on shading and shadowing. This adds so much more depth to your images and die cuts!

STAMPS: Birthday Your Way (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Limeade Ice, Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Olive Twist, Soft Stone, Weathervane, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink); Black Soot distress ink for splatters.

It's a sunny Saturday in VA. Now it's time to get more work done outside my crafty space.  ~Wanda
