Color Throwdown

Another Wednesday which means a new Color Throwdown Challenge! We have a gorgeous, elegant color combo...brought to us by Amy Rysavy: gold, gray, black and white!  I used products from three different companies to create a couple of cards.
PTI recently released this birch background stamp and birch frame which pairs up well with WPlus9's Stag Trio dies.  The large snowflake is by Stampin' Up.  Sentiment is also from WPlus9 and is from their Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set with matching dies.

While I had my supplies out, I went ahead and created a similar yet different card.  Snowflake dies are by WPlus9.

We'd love to have you join us in the challenge this week!  For more details on how to play along, head over to the Color Throwdown blog and you'll find the information on the right sidebar.  You can also visit the rest of the design team's creations for more inspiration by clicking on the links below:

Inspired By All The Little Things

Are you all shopped out yet after Black Friday or are you like me and you do most of your shopping online? I'm waiting on Cyber Monday to roll around to pretty much complete my Christmas shopping! A few clicks, no or few shipping charges and it's delivered to my doorstep.  Doesn't get any better than that!  I'm not a fan of long checkout lines and extra traffic, so ordering online solves that stress as well.

OK...let me get down to stamping business - lol!  Hopefully, you'll have some free time to get inky and play along with the new Inspired By All The Little Things challenge!

I took one look and thought "rustic farmhouse decor"...something Chip and Joanna Gaines would add to one of their Fixer Upper houses!  I used mostly Reverse Confetti products with the exception of the pine bough.  I was inspired to incorporate some black, an evergreen image and some pops of gold.  I also used the merry and bright sentiment that is in the photo.  The gold splatters were added using yellow gold paint from Gansai Tambi's Starry Colors palette. I'm thinking this card would be good for a masculine recipient.

STAMPS: Peaceful Pinecones (PTI); Whole Lotta Dots, Arrows and Elements, Bring on the Merry - all by Reverse Confetti.
PAPER: Cozy Christmas 6x6 pad by Simple Stories; Cajun Craze (SU).
INK: Fired Brick, Peeled Paint, Black Soot Distress Oxide inks by Ranger; Versamark.
DIES: Tag Me and Winter Words by Reverse Confetti.

That's all for now folks...enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend! It's been wonderful having the entire week off work!

Color Throwdown Challenge

It's a special week of celebrating Thanksgiving here in the US and yours truly is this week's hostess for the Color Throwdown Challenge! Though I thought the inspiration photo was rather cute months ago, I'll admit I was a bit stumped at my own colors of yellow, orange, red and brown.  I browsed through a box of miscellaneous stamps that I accumulated many years ago, and this rubber stamp image from Lili of the Valley Ltd from the UK caught my eye.  I colored with Copics and thought this polka dotted paper from My Mind's Eye Winter Wonderland 6x6 pad would be a perfect background for the image!

STAMPS: Bitty Banners (Reverse Confetti), Girl w/Daisy (Lili of the Valley.
DIES: Bitty Banners, Gift Card Holder Tag and Hang Ups - all by Reverse Confetti.  Stitched rectangle borders by Lil' Inker Designs.

We'd love to have you join us in the challenge this week!  For more details on how to play along, head over to the Color Throwdown blog and you'll find the information on the right sidebar.  You can also visit the rest of the design team's creations for more inspiration by clicking on the links below:

CAS(E) This Sketch

I decided to create two nearly identical cards using the current layout for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  The poinsettias are from Verve's Joyous Noel stamp set - stamped in black on Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  The leaves are Spellbinders' poinsettia dies which I sponged with Old Olive ink.  The stitched lines are from Reverse Confetti's Edge Essentials die set and the sentiment was layered 3 times using RC's Winter Words die set.  Patterned papers are from the Simple Stories 'Cozy Christmas' 6x6 pad - a long time favorite set of Christmas papers.

Speaking of joy...as I finished my card, Martin Truex, Jr. won the Nascar championship race at Homestead!  He dominated all season and I was rooting for him to win!

Inspired By All The Little Things

Here's hoping you are having a super Saturday! If you have some free time to get inky, we'd love to have you play along with us in the new challenge at Inspired By All The Little Things!
Check out this yummy pastel inspiration photo! I was inspired by the staggered heights of the trees and with the pastel shades of color.  I used Coastal Cabana and Pink Pirouette inks by SU to stamp with this Tim Holtz' trees stamp by Stampers Anonymous. I love the subtle look of falling snow that is given with SU's Softly Falling embossing folder.  The sentiment is a combination of a Winter Words die (Reverse Confetti) paired with a white embossed 'christmas' from RC's Winter Words Coordinates stamp set.  The tiny scalloped border is from RC's Edge Essentials border die set that is one of my all-time favorites!  The striped paper is from Recollections' Blush and Mint 6x6 pad.

We have the famous Susan Opel - a big name in the papercrafting industry - joining us as our guest designer this week!  Be sure to stop and say hello!

The Card Concept

Slowly but surely I'm chipping away at my Christmas card list! I was drawn to the colors in this gorgeous retro styled wreath and was inspired to create a clean and layered design for the new Card Concept Challenge.  I used dies from Reverse Confetti (Leafy Wreath, Beautiful Banners and Winter Words) and patterned papers from My Mind's Eye "Merry Little Christmas" 6x6 pad.  The wreath colors are Gumball Green and Pear Pizzazz by SU. The sentiment has 3 layers with the top one being brushed silver cardstock. To keep it from being lost in the text background, I layered it over a white banner.

My eyes are barely staying open, so guess it's time to hit the bed!  Nite all!

Freshly Made Sketches

Another Christmas card completed...this time for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge using products by Reverse Confetti. I stenciled Iced Aqua ink using their Pointed Out stencil.  Love these delicate Trio of Snowflakes dies, though you most definitely need a metal plate added to your "sandwich" as you run it through a die-cutting machine.   I used Lil' Inker Designs' Wonky Stitched Rectangle die to get the stitching detail.  I layered two aqua 'merry' words, then adhered a brushed silver top layer to give it lots of dimension.  This was such an easy peasy card to create!

Headed to work shortly then excited to be off through all of next week!  Woohoo!  Thanks so much for stopping by...

Color Throwdown

Hi everyone! Another Wednesday means another Color Throwdown Challenge is happening! Vickie is our hostess and has chosen a gorgeous combo of light blue, blue and silver, so that was perfect to feature some snowflakes on yet another Christmas card!

I used the Peace and Joy stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs and stamped the background using Lake House and Falling For Blue dye inks by WPlus9.  The sentiment was silver embossed on vellum.  The large layered snowflake (SU Bigz SnowFlurry) was die cut from white glitter cardstock and embellished with a Frosted Finishes embellishment by Stampin' Up. I rounded the corners with my Corner Chomper for a softer look.

We'd love to have you join us in the challenge this week!  For more details on how to play along, head over to the Color Throwdown blog and you'll find the information on the right sidebar.  You can also visit the rest of the design team's creations for more inspiration by clicking on the links below:

CAS Poinsettia

It was a very cold weekend in VA (down to 18 degrees early Saturday morning) and today was a lazy Sunday afternoon spent making several Christmas cards! My first card uses the sketch only for the current Fusion Card Challenge and I was inspired to use a poinsettia as the focal point thanks to the beautiful table setting in the photo for The Card Concept challenge #81.  Due to all the white space, I'm calling my style CAS for this design.

I gold embossed the images, colored with Copics then die cut with matching dies from Altenew's Poinsettia and Pine set.  Patterned papers are from Tim Holtz' Christmas 8x8 paper pack.  I also used MFT Die-Namics: Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX and Stitched Rounded Rectangle STAX.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Inspired By All The Little Things

Happy Saturday everyone! Welcome to another terrific inspiration photo for the Inspired By All The Little Things challenge! It's unusual for me to create a white on white card, yet I love the look of combining different textures! I used the layout for Reverse Confetti's November Sketch For You To Try challenge and I'm also entering the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where they have a Snow White theme to use lots of white.

Here is what I used:
PAPER: Stone CS (Reverse Confetti); patterned paper strip is from RC's Free Spirit 6x6 pad; White glitter CS (? source) and Textured White CS
by Bazzill.
DIES: Lacy Scallop Frame, Branch Out, Winter Words, Wreaths - all by Reverse Confetti.

Sending out a big welcome to our guest designer this week - Anne Marie Hile of Stampin' Anne!  Be sure and stop by her blog to say hello!

We'd love to see how you interpret this challenge!  Hope to see you in the gallery!

Color Throwdown

Add caption
Lynn is our hostess and has a great color combo for the new Color Throwdown Challenge this week! You could go with a fall theme or jump ahead and go with Christmas like I did!

I used PTI's Holiday Greens stamp set with matching dies - another set designed by Dawn McVey.  The white embossed sentiment is from Altenew's Holiday Wishes stamp set which has a huge number of unique holiday greetings. I used papers from Recollections' Christmas Noel package.  The To The Point Edgers Die is by PTI.  All of the inks I used were by Stampin' Up.

Congratulations to Cecile Ribon from jeux de mains, jeux de velin who is our guest star stamper this week!  She is such a fabulously talented regular player with the CTD challenge and you don't want to miss her gorgeous creation this week!

Inspired By All The Little Things

Hope this finds you having a super Saturday!  There is a new Inspired By All The Little Things challenge happening with a great inspiration photo filled with so many elements to inspire you!  I was drawn to the bold stripes of gray and white wall colors, the pop of red, and the gold tree ornaments.  My pop of red came in the form of using Zig Clean Color brush markers to color the white embossed poinsettia from Altenew's Poinsettia and Pine stamp set.  The gold berries were watercolored with yellow gold from Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette.  I used the Triple Chevies die by Reverse Confetti and cut patterned paper (RC Free Spirit 6x6 pad) and Stormy and Lead cardstock (also by RC).  The sentiment die is from Reverse Confetti's Winter Words die set.

Our guest designer in the spotlight this week is Colleen Foelker of One Smile Lifts a Spirit!  Be sure to stop by her blog and say hello.

Now...it's your turn to get inspired and play along. Hope to see you in the gallery!

We Love You Dawn! Blog Hop

Many Papertrey Ink fans are participating in a special We Love Dawn blog hop today as we cheer on, pray for and celebrate Dawn McVey! Dawn - a longtime design team member for PTI - recently received a special organ transplant after a very LONG fight with health issues!  In spite of her long struggle, she remained so upbeat and inspiring as she shared her journey through social media posts!  Her creative talents have resulted in numerous stamp sets and dies for PTI and we were to use something she designed in our creations.  I used her Cover Up: Diamonds background stamp and paired it with her Delightful Dahlia Additions stamp set.  I sponged 4 Reverse Confetti inks on the background: Bumblebee Yellow, Lime Green, Tangerine and Iced Aqua which creates a subtle rainbow.  The dahlias were layered using 3 ink colors from RC: Buttercup, Sunshine and Rust.  I used a Copic Multi Liner pen to add tiny black dots to the floral centers.  The card base is PTI's Harvest Gold cardstock.

DIES: Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics and Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things. Delightful Dahlia dies by PTI.

Dawn, we hope you feel the love if you are reading this post!  ((Hugs))

I wanted to share a quick post to show you the card I created for my Young Living upline who just achieved her gold level status! The heavyweight gold foiled papers are from Recollections' Vintage Glam 6x6 pad.  I added a black border and adhered a new (to me) Celebrate die cut from MFT using mirror gold cardstock (Altenew).  I debated on accenting with balloons or stars but this Fantasy Floral die by Altenew won out.  I used kraft, black and white CS for the 3 layers then went with a pop of green for the leaves (Lime Green by Reverse Confetti).  The sentiment inside is "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work" and she is certainly a worthy team leader!

Thanks for stopping by!  The weather warmed up in the 70's today and I was roasting as I shopped and ran errands this afternoon! Love the fall on days like this!  Happy weekend everyone!

Lip Balm Tags

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is a tag themed challenge and is perfectly timed since I just completed my first two gift tags using MFT's Lip Balm Window and Frame die and Tall Tag Duo dies this morning.  The holly is a punch by Martha Stewart and the berries are a small circle punch.  My goal is to make at least 20 of these tags to give out at Christmas.

STAMPS: Sending Smooches (MFT)
PAPER: Trim the Tree paper stack by SU; Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler CS by SU.

I'm heading out to work in a few minutes, so am keeping this post very short and sweet!

Color Throwdown

November is here whether I want it to be or not! I loved October with all it's great autumn colors and fun events, but now it's time to change gears and think about Thanksgiving and Christmas...and colder temperatures!  But I digress.

It's time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge and Lori is our hostess with this fun inspiration photo that has us using teal, red and green.  As promised last week, I once again used Altenew's new Fantasy Floral dies and started by watercoloring with red and teal Pelikan paints before die cutting.  I added a trio of scrolly leaves that are from Altenew's Peony Scrolls die set.  My design started out as a vertical A2 card, but when it came time to add a birthday sentiment, I switched it up and turned it horizontally.  Patterned paper stripes are from the Mambi Color Basics 12x12 pad by Me and My Big Ideas.

We are thrilled to share that Kelly Lunceford will be our guest designer in November! Be sure to stop by her blog and say hello!

Congrats also go out to Tara Chaussee from Secret Bees Studio who is our guest star stamper this week!
