Inspired By Lemons

It's a sunny Sunday and I'm finishing up my card for the Inspired By...Lemons challenge (with basketball games in the background)! I also incorporated the sketch along with the lemon theme. This stencil by Taylored Expressions is a quick and easy way to whip up a lemony background.

The punny sentiment was popped up with foam tape to give it more dimension. Some moonshine sequins are a fave go-to embellishment to top it all off!

Color Throwdown #731

Hey crafty friends! It's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge and Amy Rysavy is hosting with the colors of pale yellow, aqua, navy and pink. I've been stamping for MANY years so have quite a large inventory. I wanted to use something I haven't used in awhile, so went with these fun dies from Pretty Pink Posh.

I started by stenciling a background using Papertrey Ink's Playful Dots stencil with Lovely Lady, Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist and Enchanted Evening dye inks. I then die cut the cake out of the four card stock colors to match the inks, then arranged the cake into what I thought was a pleasing mix of the colors.

I added some Clear Star gellyroll pen highlights to the candle flames and embellished the card with some moonshine sequins (PTI).

STAMPS: Birthday Your Way (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Lovely Lady, Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist, Enchanted Evening (PTI); Versamark.
PAPER: White, Enchanted Evening, Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Lovely Lady (PTI).
DIES: Party Cake (Pretty Pink Posh); Birthday Your Way (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX and Banner Flag STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Clear Star gellyroll pen; Moonshine sequins (PTI); Pure White embossing powder (Altenew).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Would love to see what you create using these colors.  ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

Just making it under the wire with an entry into the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I had these leftover strips from a previous project so all I did was emboss the background with Papertrey's new "Quilted" cover plate that will be released tomorrow at 10pm ET.

The sentiment was popped up with foam tape and there you have it...a very quick and easy CAS design!

STAMPS: Squeeze the Day (Taylored Expressions).

PAPER: Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal (Papertrey Ink).

PTI February Release Day #4

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the fourth and final day of reveals for the Papertrey Ink February release. Today, we are introducing you to Border Bling: Lattice die + Into the Blooms: Clover + Just Sentiments: Welcome Spring + Elegant Edges: Spring Flowers dies + Inside Greetings: Welcome Spring.

I love these new clover dies which pair up so nicely with the lattice frame! My background was color blended using Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry distress inks. When the colors overlap in the middle of the panel, it creates the light orange tone.

Flowers and leaves were die cut from Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blended with brushes.

STAMPS: Inside Greetings: Welcome Spring.
INK: Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry distress inks by Ranger; Simply Chartreuse, Olive Twist, Ripe Avocado (PTI); Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum (Pinkfresh Studio); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: White, Green Parakeet; Bristol Smooth Surface.
DIES: Border Bling: Lattice, Into the Blooms: Clover, Cover Plate: Quilted, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles.

This new elegant edge die is really beautiful and I chose to cut it from watercolored paper and layered it over some Bitty Big: Harvest Gold patterned paper.

PTI February Release Day #3

Welcome back friends to day #3 of the Papertrey Ink February release! Today, we are introducing you to Happy Bunnies stamps and dies + Larger Than Life: Spring dies + Larger Than Life: Spring Sentiments + Iconic Easter stamps and dies.

If you loved the style of the Simply Snowmen set, you will love these new Happy Bunnies! It has the rustic layer with a wood grain effect plus a cute basket that can be filled with eggs, carrots and flowers!

This card is slightly larger than an A2 size but will not require extra postage. Dimensions are 6 5/8" x  4 5/8". Once again, I used some plaid paper for the background that has so many amazing spring colors!

STAMPS: Happy Bunnies.
INK: Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Green Parakeet, Prairie Grass, Mint Julep, Fine Linen, Cocoa Bean, Pale Peony, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart; Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke distress (Ranger).

This card highlights the Iconic Easter set along with the Larger Than Life: Spring Sentiments and die. Love how easy it is to coordinate a matching envelope!

It doesn't show well in the photo, but the second layer of the large spring sentiment die is cut from a glittery plaid green paper. Also note the tiny pompom for the bunny tail. :-) The background was stenciled using very small blending brushes.

PTI February Release Day #2

Welcome back to the second day of reveals of the February release at Papertrey Ink! Today, we are introducing you to On the Bunny Trail stamps and dies + Cover Plate: Quilted dies + Wild Blooms Stencils + Cornered: Spring Flowers dies.

This set is so much fun to use with the truck die from the previously released Patriot die set.

A fave cover plate die with this release is the quilted background die! So great for added texture to your cards.

STAMPS: On the Bunny Trail.
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne; Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Prairie Grass, Orange Zest, Terracotta Tile, Bright Buttercup, Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Amethyst Allure, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet (PTI); Lost Shadow, Hickory Smoke distress ink.
PAPER: White, Hawaiian Shores, Green Parakeet, True Black; Plaid patterned paper; Silver metallic.
DIES: Cover Plate: Quilted, On the Bunny Trail, Grassy Edge, To the Point Edgers, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Patriot, Love is Everywhere (clouds).

My second card features the cornered spring flowers dies. I kept it monochromatic using my favorite spring shade of green: Limeade Ice.

The small iconic cross image seemed fitting for the sentiment. Being a Christ follower will most certainly change a life!

My photo backgrounds this release have special meaning to me because it uses two handmade items made by my parents who have both passed away a number of years ago. My mom crocheted the doily and my dad made the wooden pen/pencil set. It's a subtle touch with special memories (I like to say they are responsible for my creative genes!).

STAMPS: Larger Than Life: Spring Sentiments, Iconic Easter.
INK: Limeade Ice; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Limeade Ice, White.
DIES: Cornered: Spring Flowers, Iconic Easter, Love to Layer: Ovals, Vintage Travel (banner).
OTHER: Enamel dots.

SUPPLIES

P.S. Some of the designers used the Wild Blooms stencil set that is part of this release. Supplies were limited so not everyone got access to these stencils yet.

That's a wrap for day two. Tune in tomorrow for more bunnies and spring/easter goodies!  ~Wanda

Seize the Birthday

It's a rainy and chilly day here in VA, so spending time in my craft room is a great way to avoid tromping about to run errands in the weather. I will be needing lots of birthday cards so the fun challenge at Seize the Birthday was a great way to get started on my birthday stash! We were asked to use at least one initial of our name for an element on our card. I chose "C" and went with a coral color paper for the sentiment.

Our grandson is crazy about donuts and requests donuts rather than a birthday cake every year. I was going through some patterned papers and came across these donuts from Stampin' Up's Cherry On Top pack. I doubled up on the layers for the sentiment then white embossed on a coral shade of paper from my huge leftover bin. Not sure of the source or exact name of the paper. I love this edge die that makes it so easy to create a quick card!

STAMPS: Birthday Your Way (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Birthday Your Way, Elegant Edges: Balloon Party (PTI).
