Freshly Made Sketches

Got home from a week's vacation yesterday and now I'm anxious to get my mojo going...especially after getting some new stamps and dies in the mail! This card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and it uses three new sets from The Greetery: Blooming Branch, Robin and Wren, Sentiment Suite: Birthday.

I'm so loving the realistic look of the birds and branches with the layered stamping that occurs!

Here's what I used:
STAMPS: (see above description).
PAPER: Bitty Big: Sweet Blush by Papertrey Ink; Sweet Tooth by My Favorite Things.
INK: Pumice Stone, Brushed Corduroy, Walnut Stain, Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks - for the birds; Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint DO inks for the leaves; Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain DO for the branches; Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick for the flowers; Memento Tuxedo Black for the sentiment.
DIES: Blooming Branch, Robin and Wren by The Greetery.

I see the bird set is already out of stock...not surprised as it's such a fun set! Thanks for stopping by...                      ~Wanda

PP Tic -Tac -Toe

Happy Sunday everyone! We just returned from a week at the beach with extended family, so it's back to the routine of at home living! I always miss stamping when I'm away, so it was good to get inky again! This week, Joanne is hosting for the Paper Players Challenge and she has a fun tic-tac-toe challenge for us! I chose the bottom row of florals, birthday and wood. Florals were stamped using Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Bundle.

It's always fun to see the wreath evolve as you stamp using the template as a guide! The sentiment circle was popped up with foam tape and I embellished with tiny wood veneer stars.

Fusion Triangles

It's time again for another Fusion Card Challenge! I went with  a loose version of the sketch and was definitely inspired by the triangles in the inspiration photo! I've pretty much depleted my birthday card stash, so decided to go with colors that could work for a masculine card (plus they are my fave distress oxide ink colors)!

I went to Pinterest to get some ideas for this Just Geometrics: Triangles stamp set by WPlus9 and found a card on the company blog that I loved - you can check it out HERE! The heavyweight vellum banner was in lieu of the vertical border in the sketch and it was adhered with staples. I offset the 'happy' die - Happy Trio by WPlus9 - with brushed silver CS (Stampin' Up) over Sour Apple CS (My Favorite Things). I also added some splatters with  Memento London Fog ink using WPlus9's Ink Splats set.

STAMPS: Whole Lotta Happy, Just Geometrics: Triangles, Ink Splats - all by WPlus9.
INK: Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron distress oxide (Ranger).
DIES: Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics (MFT); Happy Trio (WPlus9).

We'd love to see how you are inspired by the new Fusion Card Challenge! Hope to see you in the gallery.

Color Throwdown #549

It's Wednesday and that means a new Color Throwdown challenge is happening! Vickie has some fabulous colors for us - blue, orange and gray! Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card and these colors were perfect for it!

I was inspired by the pillow in the photo to use Altenew's Watercolor Stripes Cover Die with navy blue cardstock.  The Weekend Doodles stamp set (Altenew) was stamped with Memento London Fog ink on X-Press It Blending Card.

I wanted just a hint of sage green in the leaves so colored with YG61 and slightly accented with G40 Copic markers. The florals were colored with YR01, YR02, and YR04. I added Orange Marmalade Nuvo Jewel Drops to the flower centers. The sentiment was stamped with Navy Blue ink by Reverse Confetti and used with my fave Simple Strips Background set by Taylored Expressions.

We'd love to have you play along with us this week! For more inspiration from the rest of the talented design team, you can visit their links below.

Paper Players Sketch

Good Sunday everyone! Hope your weekend is going well! Jaydee is hosting this great sketch for The Paper Players Challenge. It was perfect for me to use one of my favorite Reverse Confetti dies (Tall Stripe Panel) which sadly is on their retiring list. I love that it creates a lattice-like background for florals, so you will see me continue to use it pretty often.

This two-step-stamping Painted Poppy set by Altenew pretty much requires the use of a MISTI to get everything lined up well - especially the long stems. I used distress oxide inks - Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. The sentiment is one of 18 from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background set. A few sequins added the finishing touch!

Color Throwdown #548

It's Wednesday and that means a new Color Throwdown Challenge is up and running! Lynn is hosting this week and has some really pretty colors for us: pink, aqua, lavender and mint. I initially was going to take a very literal interpretation of the photo, but then had an about face and went with a messy watercoloring look with these florals - Hello Lovely - by Concord and 9th.

Here is my enabler's list...
STAMPS: Hello Lovely (Concord and 9th).
PAPER: Ranger watercolor cardstock; True Black (PTI); Black and White Stripes 6x6" pad (MFT).
INK: Milled Lavender, Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks by Ranger; Memento Tuxedo Black. A pale blue Zig watercolor brush marker was used to add some shadows.
DIES: Hello and Thanks Duo dies by Reverse Confetti.

We'd love to have you play along with us this week! For more inspiration from the rest of the talented design team, you can visit their links below.

Paper Players CAS

Hope you are having a super Sunday! If you have some time to get crafty, we'd love to have you join us at The Paper Players where Claire is hosting the CAS challenge and is asking for a summer beverage theme.  Not going to lie...I had to really put on my thinking cap for this as I had given away an old stamp set that would have been perfect for it (isn't that always the way?!). I didn't want to go with a wine theme, so went to Pinterest for some
ideas and came across this lemonade glass made from vellum and CASEd the idea from the photo at right. I stenciled with Daffodil Delight ink (SU) and a Tim Holtz Bubble stencil on the card base instead of embossing. I made my own "glass" from
heavy weight vellum and scored each side at 1/8th inch and folded it downward (the sample on the right used narrow score tape to adhere it). I placed foam squares behind the lemons to adhere it to the base (*note the couple of slices inside the lemonade).

I used several shades of yellow Copic markers (Y06, Y08, Y13) to color the back side of the vellum. The Lemon Zest stamp set with matching punch by Stampin' Up was the perfect match for my yummy lemonade. Note that I slightly sponged some green on the lemon stamp before applying the stamp to paper. I robbed the tiny straw off of a juice box (always in my frig in case the grands come to visit!). The sentiment is...you guessed it...another of the Simple Strips Background by Taylored Expressions. This was a lot of fun to create once I had the idea in mind!

Fusion Card Challenge

How about this awesome VW hippie ride to inspire us for the new Fusion Card Challenge?! I initially spotted the sun in the VW art work and then all the vivid colors just shouted out RAINBOW to me!  Most of the dies I used are by Reverse Confetti with the exception of the pierced frame which is by Papertrey Ink.

The rainbow was die cut from my large leftover pile. I blended some Squeezed Lemonade distress oxide ink over the Stitched Rays Cover Panel (RC).

DIES: Thanks and Hello Word Duos, Stitched Rays Cover Panel, Over the Rainbow - Reverse Confetti; Pierced Featured Frames die - Papertrey Ink.

As you can see...I used both the sketch and was inspired by the photo as well! We'd love to see how you are inspired by the new Fusion Card Challenge! Hope to see you in the gallery.

Happy Birthday

I'm still cranking out masculine birthday cards and was inspired by the theme and photo board of the new challenge at Addicted To Stamps and More! They are celebrating their 7th birthday (HB2U!) so I went with that theme plus I was drawn to the red and aqua colors in the photo.

I have definitely gotten my money's worth from this Stampin' Up set - Geared Up Garage - and their matching dies - Garage Gears Thinlits!

The patterned papers are all from a SU 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper stack called Fresh Prints. It matches with Real Red and Coastal Cabana CS. The gears were die cut from a brushed silver CS. The car image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card then colored with Copics (BG11, BG32, BG34, C0, C2, C4). Glossy Accents was added to the windows and headlights and Clear Star Gelly Roll pen was added to the hubcaps.

That's it for now...have a great day! I'm gearing up (haha - pun intended) for a busy weekend with visiting relatives so the blog will be pretty quiet for several days.                                          ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #547

Check out these awesome happy colors for the new Color Throwdown Challenge! Lori is our hostess and she's chosen yellow, orange, hot pink and green. After I completed my card, I realized I interpreted the dark pink as a red. No time for a redo, so it will have to be considered "close". I love these popsicle dies that are now retired from the Reverse Confetti store (on last check there were a few dies on sale but no stamp sets to match). I watercolored with Mijello Mission Gold watercolors on Ranger watercolor paper.

STAMPS: Let's Chill (Reverse Confetti).
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Blueprint 27 (My Favorite Things); Let's Chill (RC).

We'd love to have you play along with us this week! For more inspiration from the rest of the talented design team, you can visit their links below.

Geared Up Garage

There are numerous male birthdays in our family this month, so I'm going with the great masculine set from Stampin' Up called Geared Up Garage to add another card to my stash. I'm using the sketch by Heidi for the Sunday Stamps Challenge.

I used this Cuttlebug embossing folder on Pool Party (SU) cardstock which always reminds me of the pattern on metal tool boxes, etc.  The car was colored with Copics and highlighted with Clear Star Gelly Roll pen on the hub caps and Glossy Accents on the windows and head lights.

STAMPS: Geared Up Garage (SU).
PAPER: Classic Garage 6x6" DP, Pool Party (SU); White (PTI); X-Press It Blending Card
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Geared Up Garage (SU); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (MFT).
COPICS: BG11, BG32, BG34, CO, C2, C4.

Thanks for stopping by!                           ~Wanda

CAS(E) This Sketch

I'm posting this CAS design that is my interpretation of the layout for the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. My mojo just didn't want to flow for this one! Rather than take the literal six button look, I saw it as a vertical, skinny rectangle with an overlaying sentiment.

Here is what I used...
STAMPS: Sentiment Essentials (Reverse Confetti).
PAPER: True Black, White, Raspberry Fizz by Papertrey Ink; Pretty in Pink by SU.
DIES: Double Panel Hearts, All Framed Up and Sentiment Essentials (RC).

Simple and straight forward with dies doing most of the work.

Paper Players Color Week

Hello everyone! Hope your weekend is going well! Anne Marie has some gorgeous colors for the new Paper Players Challenge and I knew right away I wanted to use flowers! I had this Delicate Flowers stamp set and matching dies on my desk from a previous project and decided to color up some more images with Copics.

I love this textured brick background created with a Bricked embossing folder by Sizzix then sponged lightly with Silver Lining ink by WPlus9. I thought the colors would pop more if I added a black and white patterned strip (from MFT's Black and White Basics 6x6 pad).  Love that this stamp set has a number of teeny sentiments to tuck into your card front without covering up much of the design!

STAMPS: Delicate Flowers (Simon Says Stamp).
COPICS: V01, V05, V06, V09 (flower)
                Y00, Y02, Y06, Y08 (flower)
                YG11, YG13, YG17 (leaves in largest spray)
                YG21, YG23, YG25 (leaves beside bud)
                YG03, YG93 (3-leaf leaves)

RC Stock Your Stash

It's a very rainy Friday here in VA so, it's good for me to get some laundry and cleaning done...AND...to play along with Reverse Confetti's June Stock Your Stash challenge! I'm also playing along with the Tag You're It Challenge where the theme is umbrellas.  I thought it would be fun to paper piece the umbrella from Reverse Confetti's Rainy Day fun set.

I had an already colored Hatbox Florals image and decided to fussy cut and rearrange the florals to add to the umbrella. The background was stenciled with Daffodil Delight ink (SU) and the bubble stencil by Tim Holtz. The base is a die from My Favorite Things' Blueprint 27 die set. Other dies used are all from Reverse Confetti: Sunburst Tag Layer, Thanks and Hello Word Duos, Rainy Day Fun.  The patterned paper is from RC's Fun Times 6x6" paper pack.  The hello die was cut twice from heavyweight white cardstock to give it more dimension. I added Clear Star Gelly Roll pen accents to the umbrella handle (the sparkle doesn't show up in the photo).  Thanks for stopping by and commenting!                                          ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

Amy has a great new sketch over on the Freshly Made Sketches blog! I thought I'd go with a beachy theme since our family beach vacation is coming up in a few weeks. I already had extra images stamped and die cut, so this fell together very quickly.

STAMPS: Salt Air: Flora and Fauna by Papertrey Ink; Color Layering Waves by Hero Arts (sentiment).

Because I had stamped the images many weeks ago, I don't recall what inks I used. Striped paper is from MFT's Black and White Basics 6x6" pad. The rectangle is Pool Party by SU.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!      ~Wanda
