Color Throwdown #721

It's another Wednesday, so that means it's time for a new Color Throwdown challenge. Amy Rysavy is hosting this week and has some beautiful colors: coral, silver, pine green and white. I have not used the poinsettia dies from PTI yet this year, so pulled them out and smooshed the colors onto the flowers and leaves using distress inks.

The only silver is in the looped cording and the flower centers. The base panel was stenciled with Saltwater Taffy and Geometric Snowflakes stencil (PTI).

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Heaven and Nature Sing (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Pine Needles, Rustic Wilderness distress inks by Ranger; Versafine Clair Nocturne by Tsukineko.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; White (PTI); Metallic Silver.
DIES: Love to Layer: Notched, Pierced Feature Frames, Into the Blooms: Poinsettias (PTI).
OTHER: Spectacular Snowflakes stencil (PTI); Silver cord.
We'd love to see what you create so be sure to play along with us! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

The Paper Players

I'm still needing a few Christmas cards, so the sketch for the new Paper Players challenge was the perfect way to get another card done. I flipped the sketch to a vertical orientation and used an aqua hot foiled background for starters. The Simply Snowmen stamp/die set just released this month by Papertrey Ink is a favorite (and is out of stock so guess others are liking it as well)!

I featured the smallest snow chum on this card and just love his sweet personality! The large snow sentiment is another favorite of the new release and was layered and offset a bit.

STAMPS: Simply Snowmen, Larger Than Life: Snow Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Lovely Lady, Pure Poppy, Orange Zest (PTI); Grassy Knoll, Olive, Metropolis (Pinkfresh Studio); Versafine Clair Nocturne (Tsukineko).
PAPER: White, Aqua Mist (PTI).
DIES: Simply Snowmen, Larger Than Life: Snow (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Master Layouts 08 (Gina K. Designs).
OTHER: Aqua foil; Cascading Dots hot foil plate by Papertrey Ink.

Sunday Stamps Challenge

Hello crafty friends! I'm finally catching my breath after a really busy Thanksgiving day with cooking up the traditional foods for a family meal. I started addressing Christmas cards on Friday and realized I still need a few more, so it was time to find a challenge. The Sunday Stamps challenge has a great color palette which worked out well with some items from my leftover pile.

Here is what I used...

STAMPS:  Sprigs & Sprays: Holiday, Vase Collection 4 (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Limeade Ice, Pinefeather (PTI).
PAPER: White, Pure Poppy (PTI); Handsome Hunter (SU - retired).
DIES: Border Bling: Joy Frame, Sprigs & Sprays: Holiday, Vase Collection 4, Believe (PTI).
OTHER: Moonshine sequins.
Thanks for stopping by!  Back to watching more football and getting another card completed.   ~Wanda

Fusion Card Challenge

There is a new Fusion Card Challenge and I was inspired to use the chalkboard technique and to feature a snowman as the focal point. I used the sketch as well and adhered a portion of a circle of vellum.

The background was white embossed on black paper then white pigment ink was lightly sponged randomly over the panel.

STAMPS: Holiday Spirit, Simply Snowmen (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versamark; Rocky Slope, Berrylicious, Grassy Knoll, Olive (Pinkfresh Studio); Pure Poppy, Orange Zest (PTI); Versafine Clair Nocturne by Tsuineko; Color Box "Frost White" pigment ink.
PAPER: True Black, White, Vellum (PTI).
DIES: Layered Snowflakes: Drift, Flurries, Simply Snowmen (PTI); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Distress Rock Candy by Ranger.

On a rather sad note, this is the last time to play along with the Fusion Card Challenge. Karren has been doing a fabulous job with keeping this challenge going for a long time but feels a need to step down. Thank you, Karren, for all you've done behind the scenes all these years!

To all my crafty friends, hopefully you will find time to play along with us in this busy season!                          ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #720

Hi everyone! It's my turn to host the Color Throwdown challenge and I was inspired to use kraft, copper, sage and black based on this photo collage. I started with hot foiling some copper foil onto kraft paper using the Deco Triangles plate by The Greetery.

The circle element was die cut from retired Sage Shadow paper by SU. The pine was cut from white Bristol paper then color blended with Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint distress inks. I sneaked in a few red berries and called them neutral - haha!

STAMPS: Grand Christmas Sentiments (Papertrey Ink).

INK: Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean (PTI); Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Festive Berries distress ink.

PAPER: Classic Kraft; Bristol Smooth Surface; Sage Shadow (SU).

DIES: Into the Blooms: Pine, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles, Love to Layer: Rectangles, Grand Christmas Sentiments (PTI).

OTHER: Deco Triangles hot foil plate (The Greetery); Distress Rock Candy glitter.

We'd love to have you play along with us! Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #719

Another Wednesday has rolled around, so that means a new Color Throwdown challenge. Vickie is hosting this week with red, orange, brown and yellow. I decided to smoosh distress inks onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel. A die cut Happy Birthday cover plate was then adhered to the base and a sentiment banner. Some moonshine sequins top it off!

PTI November Release Day 3

I hope you've been enjoying the new goodies you've seen so far! Today is day 3 of the November reveals and we are introducing you to Christmastime stamps and dies + Love to Layer: Rectangles dies + Gingerbread House dies + Gingerbread Camper dies. You will be able to create awesome scenes with all of these sets!

I wanted to create an old world style card using these retro images. I started with patterned paper that looked like it was splattered. I then added the largest of the 3 new rectangle die then layered a skinny frame of Scarlet Jewel paper.
I die cut the bulbs and fussy cut the presents from some of the patterned paper. Some glitter was added to the tree. I thought the twine and rusty bells were the perfect touch as embellishments.

STAMPS: Christmastime
INK: Dark Chocolate, Ripe Avocado, Blue Sky, Cocoa Bean, Scarlet Jewel; Rocky Slope, Metropolis
PAPER: Scarlet Jewel, Soft Stone; Metallic gold; Patterned paper
DIES: Love to Layer: Rectangles, Skinny Frames: Diagonal Borders
OTHER: Jute twine, Rusty jingle bells, Distress Rock Candy glitter

Next, I have two gingerbread creations which are admittedly labor intensive but so rewarding once you get all the small parts assembled!

I used the of the Playful Dots stencils for the base layer (Pale Peony ink on Lovely Lady paper. You will see me using the largest new rectangle die over and over...it's a "must have" die set!

If I do another one, I will add pale yellow to the windows to make it look like lights are on in the house. A touch of glitter was added to the gumdrops and the snowman.

STAMPS: None
INK: Rocky Slope, Pale Peony
PAPER: Vintage Jadeite, Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Pale Peony, Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst, White, True Black, New Leaf; Metallic Gold
DIES: Gingerbread House, Bring Home the Holidays
OTHER: Playful Dots stencil, Ranger Rock Candy glitter

Isn't this camper just so adorable?! It will take some patience with all the tiny die cuts, but it creates a really special card!

Coarse glitter to the snow drifts adds great sparkle and dimension!

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Winter Wonderland
INK: True Black
PAPER: Lovely Lady, Pure Poppy, Lemon Tart, Hawaiian Shores, True Black, New Leaf, Aqua Mist, Classic Kraft, Harvest Gold; Metallic silver; Carta Bella "Merry & Bright" 6x6" pad, White
