The Great Cover Up Challenge

Hello friends! Today, I'm paired up with Melody Rupple for this week’s Great Cover Up challenge on the Papertrey Ink blog. We are challenging you to create something with a patriotic theme and I wanted to use a new “to me” technique to create a sunburst background. It’s a great way to use up those scraps of patterned papers!

Step 1: Cut paper into 1 ½” by 6” rectangles, then cut them on the diagonal from opposite corners to form the sun “rays”.

Step 2: Start by adhering a strip in the center of the A2 size card base, then work your way outward until the background is covered. I like to leave a narrow space (about 1/8”) between each piece. Trim off the excess with a scissors or with a paper cutter.

Step 3: Next, I wanted to cover up the sunburst center by adding a trio of bunting dies from the newly released Patriot die set.

Step 4: Complete the card with a sentiment as the focal point. I chose to cut two dies (Enchanted Evening and White) and offset them slightly to make it “pop” more.

No paper or ink used on this one!

PAPER: White, Enchanted Evening, patterned paper.
DIES: Patriot, God Bless America

So...now it’s your turn. Let’s see your take on a patriotic theme using PTI products! Post your creation on the Papertrey Ink blog for a chance to win a gift card!  Happy stamping!  ~Wanda
