Color Throwdown 198

It's another Wednesday and that means it's Color Throwdown Challenge time! Kerri has a great summery color palette this week that was inspired by this beautiful beach umbrella.  I thought the colors would work well with this digi image I found while surfing the net and landing on the Gooseberry Patch blog.

I used Teresa's great Viva la Verve sketch for Week 4 in the Verve forum on SCS - tweaked it a bit, but think I kept the basic elements in there.

We'd love to have you play along with us!  No worries if you don't have the exact colors...just pick something close and have fun!  For more inspiration by the rest of the design team and our fabulous June guestie, Anna Wight, you'll want to go HERE.  If you post to a public gallery, please use the keyword: CTD198.

Enjoy the Journey

This is a quick and easy card for Julia's Color Challenge on SCS! We were to use Island Indigo, Pool Party, and White with the dessert option of using water as the theme. I love to use the chevron dies for the illusion of waves.  The sun was masked and sponged using Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie inks.  I hand cut the narrow blue oval layer and hand wrote the sentiment using a Copic multiliner pen.

Splash of Blue

Jen Shultz has a great layout for this week's Deconstructed Sketch Challenge and I used the colors in the Play Date Cafe Challenge to use black and white with a splash of blue.  I love this butterfly image...colored it with Copics: B21, B23, B24, B26, C3 then fussy cut and popped it with X-Press It foam tape.

Under the Weather?

Holly has a fabulous sketch over on SCS for this week's Sketch Challenge! I decided it was time to piece another fun umbrella using MFT's Die-Namic that coordinates with their Umbrella & Stamp set.  The large banner was cut down by 1/4" on each side after using 'Lil Inker Designs die.  Paper is from MME's Miss Caroline collection called "Dolled Up".

It's going to be a scorching hot day in VA - up to 95 degrees - so an umbrella would be good for sun protection! :-)  Thanks for stopping by...

Word Art Wednesday & SSSC

Good Wednesday morning! For my Color Throwdown card, please scroll down to my next post.
I created this card for the following challenges:
Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

I'm loving a new line of papers I discovered called Bazzill Basics Paper and this is from the "Avalon" 6x6 mini prints, double-sided paper pad.  The paper is heavier than most DP and has a hint of texture to it.  The pages are loose so you don't get that one rough "glued" edge as with some pads.  OK...I'm not working for Bazzill, though my commercial sure does sound it - lol!  I will say that I'm giving away 2 of these pads in my upcoming blog candy for Color Throwdown's 200th challenge in a few weeks...just sayin'.  :-)

I've been a long time fan of Karen Giron's sketches and this week is one of my faves!  I really wanted to add stitching to my card, but I started it late last night after coming home from work and my noisy sewing machine would not have made my sleeping husband very happy!  The flowers were die cut and popped with foam tape.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

STAMPS: Jeremiah 33:3 PJ by Verve, Joyful Blooms by Verve, Bloom & Grow (leaves) by Verve
PAPER: Real Red, Avalon DP by Bazzill Basics Paper
INK: Versafine Onyx Black, Certainly Celery
ACCESSORIES: Joyful Blooms die set by Verve, Ribbon banner die by Verve (I cut the banner to make it narrower), Elegant Leaves die by Verve, Black pearls.

Color Throwdown 197

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge

Aren't these some fabulous colors?!!  Thanks to Joan for being this week's hostess with the mostest!
So, here's what I came up with...
A little BG embossing...bold and beautiful chevron stripes...my fave jute twine...sweet little rolled roses, a kiwi corduroy brad (going to be sad to see my supply come to an end very soon) and this great banner sentiment layered over a houndstooth die!  I just love my corner chomper and couldn't resist chomping away...again - lol!  Did you notice this is challenge #197???  Our 200th challenge is around the corner and there will be lots of goodies given away by the design team, so be sure and keep your eyeballs peeled for the details coming soon!

If you don't have the exact colors listed...no worries.  Pick something close to it and have fun!  If you post to an online gallery, be sure and use the key word: CTD197.  You don't want to miss the great cards by the rest of the design team and by our talented guest designer, Anna Wight.  You can check them out HERE.

Word Art Wednesday & SFYTT

I stumbled upon a new (to me) Word Art Challenge (thanks to Karen's kind comment) and loved the idea of using an uplifting sentiment/verse as the focal point of a card.  I also used Jen's layout in her Sketch For You To Try Challenge for June.  I've been overlooking my considerable stash of SU DP in lieu of 6x6 pads that I typically grab and decided to give these retired papers some love.

Here's what I used:
PAPER: Green Tea DP by SU, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade, White
INK: Canon inkjet printer
ACCESSORIES: Circle and Scallop circle Nesties, Fern punch by MS, Leafy die by Sizzix, Mini rolled roses Die-Namics by MFT, Butterfly sticker by Martha Stewart, Baja Breeze pleated ribbon by SU, Foam tape.
