Mojo Monday

Good Monday morning! It's Mojo Monday sketch challenge time and Carole Burrage has a super layout for us this week!  I started with this gorgeous paper from MME's "Lavender" pad...isn't it yummy?!  I just had to play with more flowers before fall and winter sets in (it will be here before we know it!).  I ran the heart through the crimper and sponged the edges with Tim Holtz' Spun Sugar distress ink.  I used portions of the leafy flourish die (Cheery Lynn Designs) to tuck around the heart.  Some straight and zigzag stitching, baker's twine and pearls were the final details.

You'll want to head on over to the Mojo Monday challenge blog and see all the other inspiration from the mojomakers!

Bit of Texture

Good Friday everyone! TGIF and I'm off this weekend with a laid back schedule! I wanted to play along with Flourishes' Bit of Texture Challenge to celebrate their new release this week!  They never disappoint with wonderful images and sentiments!  This is also for Jen's Deconstructed Sketch Challenge and the colors are for the Play Date Cafe challenge.  I colored with Copics, paper pieced the pillow and added texture through burlap, rhinestones, a button and lots of layering.

CAS Sea

This card is for today's Ways to Use It challenge on SCS to use elements of some or all of "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue".   I used my new Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set, old baker's twine, and SU's new Midnight Muse shade of blue color.  I kept it CAS for this week's CAS color challenge (dark blue and white).  This was an easy card to put together...CAS and masculine - two kinds of cards that I'm not in the habit of creating often.

STAMPS: The Sea by Sweet 'n Sassy
PAPER: Midnight Muse, White
INK: Midnight Muse (LOVE the new foam ink pads by SU!)
ACCESSORIES: Houndstooth EF, Baker's twine, Charm (Michael's jewelry section)

Rolo Pencil Favors

Just had to share some favors I created after seeing a photo on Pinterest. I went to YouTube to search for a video and found this one that gives excellent directions. We are having a going away party for a co-worker who happens to be a teacher and is leaving us this week to take a new teaching position.  With a different sentiment, these would make a great back to school gift for your child's teacher.

STAMPS: Friendly Phrases (Verve)
PAPER: Summer Sun (SU), Pretty in Pink (SU)
ACCESSORIES: Postage edge decorative scissors, 1" circle punch (SU), Scor-Buddy, Tin foil, Rolo candy, Hershey's kiss.

I used 1/4" Scor-tape to adhere the yellow CS; Glue dots were used to hold the pink "eraser" pieces and Quick Dry adhesive was used to hold the tin foil border in place.  The video suggests using a glue gun, but I tend to make a stringy mess when I use hot glue on paper.  Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown 204

It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week Broni has brought us this lovely photo for inspiration! Check out this gorgeous tank top...
I had to dig deep into my gray matter to come up with my card as these colors had me stumped for awhile! I guess that's why they call it a challenge - lol!

Awesome tip alert!!  The doily is a die cut by Cheery Lynn Designs and thanks to the tips of several blog readers, I bought a metal shim from PTI that is the secret to getting a good die cut from the more intricate, detailed dies!  Sure glad that problem is solved. :-)

Here's hoping you can find some time to play along with us.  Remember to use the keyword CTD204 if you upload to a public gallery.  If you don't have exact colors...no worries!  Just use a color that's close and you'll be fine.  For more inspiration, you'll want to check out the other designers' blogs:

Exciting News!

Whew! I've been bursting at the seams to shout out the news...I'm now a member of the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge team! Anyone following my blog knows I'm a huge fan of Verve stamps and I've loved playing along with the mojo sketches, so this was a tremendous honor to be asked to join the Mojo Makers - thanks, Julee!  To add to my excitement is that my dear cyber friend, Marisa Ritzen, is also a new mojomaker!  OK...enough blabbing and on to my card...

This week's sketch by Julee was such a fun layout!  I love the variety of Verve flowers available and decided to layer from 2 different sets.  I distressed the edges of each panel and sponged with Antique Linen distess ink.  Paper is from MME's new Bluebell pad from their  "sweetest thing" collection.

So, here's hoping you can play along.  For more details and inspiration from the rest of the mojo designers, check it out HERE.

More DTGD Fun

I just had to squeeze in a couple more Dare to Get Dirty challenges this morning and it worked out perfectly since I needed a wedding card for this afternoon. Yikes...nothing like waiting until the last minute! I really had to restrain myself from adding any color, but managed to keep it all white for Lydia's challenge (except for the wee smidgen of neutral gray sponging and the Basic Gray stamped sentiment).  The base is dry embossed using Kassie's Brocade EF then I added 3 rows of a die cut heart border from PTI.  Some satin roses found at Michael's, a leafy flourish Die-Namic by MFT, and a quick sentiment (Verve's Small Celebrations set) and this came together quickly!
