Mojo Monday #469

Good Monday everyone! I'm off work today and excited because I'm meeting up with an old college roommate from my junior year...also a nursing major! She's in VA visiting all the way from Oregon!  I'm sure there won't be any lack of conversation - lol!

Oh...it's also Mojo Monday Challenge time and yes...I'll admit this was a bit of a challenging sketch for me.

I never seem to have enough birthday cards on hand, so knew that was my starting point.  I used this patterned paper and pearl embellishments that were freebies with my last Verve order.  The metallic silver scalloped circle and the stitched fishtail flag banner are dies from MFT.  The stitched rectangles are by Lil' Inker Designs.  Though it doesn't show up well in the photo, the sentiment was silver embossed.

STAMPS: Framed Florals (Verve); Sentiment is a Plain Jane single stamp by Verve.
INK: Lake House by WPlus9; Versamark; Memento Tuxedo Black.

Inspired By...All The LIttle Things

Happy Saturday everyone! It's time for a new Inspired By...All The Little Things challenge and you will LOVE this great inspiration photo!  The fabulous colors and the umbrella theme was all I needed to jump into some watercoloring for my background!  Here is my take on the photo...

After wetting down some Ranger watercolor cardstock, I then scribbled distress ink markers over the base, using a brush to gently blend them together.  After that step was dry, I splattered some water drops to "bleach" out some spots.  I paper pieced the umbrella die and added a sentiment flag - all from My Favorite Things' Umbrella Stamp/Die set.  The inside sentiment reads "I'm Here For You, Rain or Shine".  These oldie but goody clear dew drops - adhered with SU's fine tip glue pen - added another element of raindrops.

The challenge linky will close on Friday, October 14 at 12:00 pm (PST), so be sure to check out all the inspiration over on the Inspired By blog, and link up your creation!  Hope to see you in the gallery!

SFYTT

I was asked by a coworker to create a birthday card with a Halloween theme for a friend with a birthday on October 31.  I 'googled' some sentiments and computer generated several that went with some of the images from Reverse Confetti's Best Witches stamp set.  The spider web is a stamp from Hampton Art, the BOO sentiment is from MFT's Primitive Pumpkins set and the broom is from Stampers Anonymous Crazy Things set. Paper is all from Reverse Confetti: Tangerine, Lime Green and Fright Night patterned paper.  Not sure if I like the busy sentiments at the bottom. :-/  I did think it would work well to gift this with a bottle of wine since the one sentiment talked about bringing on the "BOOs" - lol!

I used the sketch from Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try #41 challenge.

Color Throwdown #413

Welcome to the new Color Throwdown Challenge! Broni has chosen this great color combo...orange, navy blue, kraft and white...and I couldn't resist creating a leafy collage since October is here and the leaves are falling already - much to hubby's chagrin!  Our house is surrounded by LOTS of large oak trees!

I stamped images from WPlus9's Autumn Leaves set in Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake ink by SU.  The sentiment die and stamp are from the Sending, Hoping, Wishing set - also by WPlus9.  The sentiment was cut twice from navy and once from kraft cardstock.  The stitched rectangle and scalloped border dies are by Lil' Inker Designs.

We're so happy to have the talented Erin Lee Schreiner as our guest designer this month!  Welcome!

Mojo Monday #468

Good Monday everyone and welcome to another Mojo Monday Challenge!  Since it's the first of a new month, that means it's contest time, and YOU have a chance to win when you play along and link up a card!  There is a winner for every 50 entries!

This sketch is a really great one and was perfect for me to showcase my favorite fall Verve stamp set - Bountiful Harvest!
I colored the image with Copics:
Pumpkins - YR15, YR68, YR27
Leaves - YG03, YG67
Stems - E23, E57
The stitched banner and stitched rounded rectangle dies are by My Favorite Things.  In lieu of a tiny tag, I opted for a wood veneer oak leaf and I chose to use the Pennant Trim die (Verve) instead of scallops.  Patterned papers are from Recollections' Halloween Basics paper pad from 2015.

Freshly Made Sketches

I was in need of a sympathy card and already had this leafy background stamped from a previous project and went with the current layout for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  I considered it my "designer paper" and then simply layered a couple of flag dies, a circle scribble "wreath" and a trio of wheat sprigs.  The sentiment was gold embossed on CS weight vellum then die cut.
Here is what I used:

STAMPS:  Petals 'n Posies (sentiment) by Reverse Confetti; Leaf Prints from the Tim Holtz Collection by Stampers Anonymous.
PAPER: Sour Apple (MFT); White, Metallic Gold.
INK: Beanstalk, Appletini, Mojito by WPlus9; Versamark.
ACCESSORIES: Corner Chomper; Wheat and Swirlies Confetti Cuts by Reverse Confetti; Banners Framelits dies by SU; Stitched Fishtail Flags Die-Namics by MFT.

Inspired By...All The Little Things #26

Yay for a weekend off! What better way to start off the day than to bring you a card for the new Inspired By...All The Little Things Challenge!  I was needing to create an anniversary card for my SIL and BIL who are celebrating 50 years of marriage this month!  Now THAT is the meaning of the sentiment in the inspiration photo for sure!  I was inspired by the leafy scrolls around the sentiment, the wood element, the small pop of green in the candles and last, but not least, the gold or brass hardware on the trunk.
Here's my take on those elements...

I struggled with knowing where to start, but after finding this patterned paper with the border of gold hearts along the bottom, a light bulb moment occurred and the rest is history - lol!  I added wood veneer hearts to the border.  The heart circle and wheat dies are from Reverse Confetti. The sentiment is from PTI and the numbers from MFT.  I'm not overly thrilled with the result...the jury is still deliberating. :-/

Our challenge runs until Thursday, Oct. 6th, at midnight - be sure to check out all the inspiration over on the Inspired By blog, and link up your creation!
