Freshly Made Sketches

 

 Another Christmas card completed...thanks to a great new Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Karren has a great layout which gives so many opportunities for design. I wanted to use some new items from the September release at Papertrey Ink, so chose to use the Christmas Bouquet stamp/die set plus the hot foil plate "Merry Christmas". I'm not sure this is a CAS design as FMS typically asks for, but I'll take my chances on the challenge police - lol!

Color Throwdown #762

 

Happy hump day! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week, Kelly is hosting with the colors mossy green, rust, kraft and cream! Love these fall colors! Since the photo inspiration has some plaids included, I knew I wanted to use the newly released Watercolor Plaid Stencil Collection by Papertrey Ink.

I used Spring Moss, Classic Kraft and Terracotta Tile inks for the plaid background. I die cut two Fun Frames: Leaves from Terracotta Tile and Classic Kraft. The hello sentiment was die cut 3 times from Spring Moss paper. A quick and easy card!

The Card Concept Challenge

 

There is a country theme happening for the current The Card Concept challenge. I am starting to build up my Christmas stash so out came my Rustic Wood Star die set from Papertrey Ink to the rescue! Buffalo plaid always speaks to me of a country/rustic vibe happening (like you see in the bows in the photo) as does wooden objects, grapevine wreaths, etc. I was also inspired by the colors. All die cuts were cut from white cardstock then colored with brushes using a variety of dye and distress inks.

Paper Players Challenge

 

It was a Sunday filled with church then some not so pretty football games and a Nascar race. Perfect for some crafting time and making yet another Christmas card! The Paper Players challenge has a great sketch by Anne Marie this week. I die cut five strips using the Banner Builders Basics set from PTI and decided a swag of pinecones and pine would become my "shape" element. This was fun to put together!

An easy way to add a bit of sparkle is to swipe on some crystal Stickles. The pine boughs were cut from green paper then sponged in random spots with Pinefeather dye ink. Sentiment was gold embossed.

PTI September Release Day #3

Welcome back to day 3 reveals of this month's release at Papertrey Ink. Hope this is getting you into the Christmas spirit because I feel like it's right around the corner and will be here sooner than I think!

Today, we are introducing you to Psalm Reflections: September stamps and dies + Love to Layer: Ornament dies + Into the Blooms: Christmas Sprigs dies.

My photos don't do this card justice as it doesn't show the shimmery detail like IRL. The background was color blended with Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire distress inks. I splattered with water and also with white Gouache paint. The skinny star frame was a perfect match for the words of this Psalm.

PTI September Release Day #2

Welcome back to day two of the September release reveals at Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Forever Snowflake Frame dies + Merry Christmas Hot Foil Plate and die + Ornament Cloche stamps and dies + Perfect Snowflake dies.

First up is a CAS design that uses this beautiful foil sentiment. It has a coordinating shadow die.

I used the Elegant Edges: Christmas Bouquet die and placed it over an alcohol ink background in blues and turquoise ink colors.

INK: Alcohol inks in blue & green; Peacock Feathers distress (splatters).
PAPER: Yupo; White.

My next card highlights the Ornament Cloche set and also one of the Perfect Snowflake dies which I adhered for a tone on tone background. 

Sparkle was added with ultra fine glitter and a Clear Star gelly pen to accent the yellow ornaments and tree boughs.
