Freshly Made Sketches

 

Squeaking in at the last minute with my entry for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I used this PTI wreath for the circle element and clustered some glittery snowflakes around the sentiment. The base of the card was color blended with Evergreen Bough, Uncharted Mariner and Black Soot distress ink. I had not used this blue color since it's release then I saw Tim Holtz has another newly released color (Lumberjack Red), so I knew I needed to get busy and try it out!

The wreath was stamped with Pure Poppy ink (PTI) and Evergreen Bough distress ink.

Inspired By Challenge

 

I wanted to play along as soon as I spotted the tiered tray for the
current Inspired By challenge! I took a loose interpretation of the sketch by using the tiered tray dies recently released by Spellbinders and created by the talented Becky Roberts! I went with a "fall" rather than a "Halloween" theme.

 

I had so much fun die cutting all the pieces from white Bristol Smooth Surface paper then color blending with dye inks from Papertrey Ink. I added a touch of twine to the handle of the cutting board and used multiple ink colors to get variation in the coloring.

PAPER: Year Round Plaids by Pink & Main; Rustic Cream by Papertrey Ink; Bristol Smooth Surface.

Fusion Strawberries

 

There is a new Fusion Card Challenge happening and I chose to go with the sketch plus was inspired by the yummy berries! It took me awhile to find some strawberries in my stamp stash, but I finally found this older set (2012) by WPlus9.

I found a new (to me) black ink that has AMAZING coverage so I only need to stamp it once! Typically with other black inks, I used my MISTI to stamp 2 or 3 times to get a clear, crisp black. I highly recommend Versafine CLAIR Nocturne pigment ink! I did find I needed to use alcohol to remove the ink completely from my acrylic stamps. I think it was on one of Jennifer McGuire's videos that I learned about this ink.

INK: VersaFine CLAIRE Nocturne pigment ink by Tsukineko; Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado dye inks by Papertrey Ink.

Color Throwdown #716

Welcome to another Color Throwdown challenge! This week, Lisa is hosting and our colors are purple, blush and sage. I used Tattered Rose, Dusty Concord and Bundled Sage distress inks to blend the background panel. I then layered a white panel cut with the Border Bling: Lotty Dotty die. I dusted off the really old leafy die from My Favorite Things and layered it with two gardenia die cuts from Papertrey Ink.

I highlighted the gardenia petals with a Prismacolor pencil and popped up a couple of layers for added dimension.

INK: Tattered Rose, Dusty Concord, Bundled Sage distress inks by Ranger; Versafine CLAIR Nocturne ink.

I love the Into the Blooms: Pine die that was released last month and wanted to use it as a focal point on another Christmas card! I love using these colors together for non-traditional Christmas cards.

I added fine and coarse glitter on some of the sprigs and splattered the pinecones with white Gouache paint. My Aqua Mist card stock is almost all used up and the manufacturer is having issues with getting more produced! 😭  Does anyone know of another company that makes a similar color? I've searched and searched and the similar colors just aren't the same.

October Release at PTI is Today!

 

The day is finally here! At 10pm EST tonight, you can shop for the new items at Papertrey Ink! There are so many great new stamps/dies/stencils! I have a new card today that features the new Into the Blooms: Gardenias.

I love this peace sentiment released last month so went with it again. Embossed lines were highlighted with Prismacolor pencils.

Fall is in the Air!

I decided to combine the Color Throwdown Challenge (orange, green and white) with the current Paper Players Challenge to create a CAS design and include anything with wheels. I thought it would be fun to load up this pickup die with some fancy pumpkins!

I added a neutral color for the truck by blending Fine Linen and Honey Nut dye inks to white. The card base has Orange Zest ink blended on it then I layered a Rustic Cream panel using the Cover Plate: Pumpkins. I added Glossy Accents to the window.

STAMPS: Just Sentiments: Happy Fall, Pumpkin Party, Bright Night (tendrils on pumpkins).

INK: Orange Zest, Canyon Clay, Terracotta Tile, Simply Chartreuse, Limeade Ice, True Black, Fine Linen, Honey Nut (PTI dye inks).

PAPER: Rustic Cream, New Leaf (PTI); Bristol Smooth Surface; Silver metallic.

PTI October Release Day #4

It's the 4th and last day of the reveals for the October release at Papertrey Ink. Today, we are introducing you to Larger Than Life: Believe die + Larger Than Life: Believe Sentiments + Wonderful Wreaths stamps and dies + Winter Globes dies + Winter Globes: Let it Snow dies + Winter Globes: Believe dies + Winter Globe: Sentiments stamps.

I am featuring this great sentiment set (embossed with Egyptian Gold EP) along with the hot foil plate - Fanciful Snowflakes Background - with turquoise foil for a sky backdrop.

I color blended Lemon Tart ink onto thinner paper to place behind each house to make it look like lights were on.

My next card again features the same sentiment set paired with the gorgeous new Into the Blooms: Gardenias dies and the fun Spectacular Snowflakes stencil.

I colored the leaves with two different green inks then splattered with water. The flowers were painted with White Gold then splattered with
Light Gold from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors paint set.

Last but not least is a card that pairs the new sentiments and decorative edge die with an older released set. Layer at least two or 3 die cuts of the large Believe sentiment. It makes it sturdier and adds dimension.
