Freshly Made Sketches

SSS Wednesday Challenge

Simon Says Stamp: Get In Shape featuring Altenew... the new SSS Wednesday Challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp blog! I'm also entering this into the Sunday Stamps challenge with a color palette to follow (using at least 3 colors) and also at Seize the Birthday challenge to use something new.

One of my newest stamps/dies/stencils is a collection from Altenew called Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers. Four layering stencils give you a square sheet of many florals and leaves which you die cut using one huge die that cuts them all at once! It's a genius concept!

I wanted to use the largest banner die for the card base and cut out 3 white banners. The bottom panel was scored about 3/8" from the top then adhered to the front panel using Score Tape. It then is able to stand like an easel (sorry I forgot to photograph that view).

STAMPS: Chocolate Flowers background set (Altenew); Sentiment Suite: Birthday (The Greetery).
INK: Winter Wisteria, Vintage Jadeite, Ocean Tides, New Leaf, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, Melon Berry (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stampers Select White (PTI).
DIES: Zero-Waste Chocolate Flowers (Altenew); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery); A2 Nested Pendant Etched (Photoplay Paper); Cover Plate: Quilted (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Satin ribbon; Brad.

Winter Solace

One of my favorite challenges is back for the new year! The Card Concept #213 is having a winter solace theme. I was inspired by the sparkly winter trees and the deer and created this snowy scene using Papertrey Ink stamps and dies using the clean and layered style. I splattered the blended background using white gouache paint. A glue pen was used to "scribble" some snow drifts then fine glitter was added.

The sentiment is from the Vintage Lantern stamp set. The deer and sentiment were popped up with foam tape.

STAMPS: Winter Wonder, Vintage Lantern (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Waterfall, Turquoise, Paradise, Rocky Slope (Pinkfresh Studio); Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Ocean Tides, Pinefeather, Cocoa Bean (Papertrey Ink); Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Stampers Select White (PTI).
DIES: Winter Wonder, Bring Home the Holidays (PTI); Stitched Sentiment Strips (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Super fine glitter (Martha Stewart); White gouache paint.

Warm Winter Wishes

This was a timely card to create after a huge winter storm warning starting last evening! We didn't get near as much ice and snow as predicted which is fine with me! I'm playing along with three challenges:

1. Just Us Girls #756 - Anything Goes/Die Week

3. Inspired By #317...Tea Time

I used the newly released Build-A-Snowflake die set from Papertrey Ink and tweaked the sketch a bit to add the sentiment at the bottom.
I was very much inspired by the cable knit mittens rather than the tea theme in the Inspired By photo, so I stenciled the background using the Simple Stitch Crochet Small stencil set by PTI.
STAMPS: Trees 'N Patterns (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Slumber, Blue Jay, Saphire (Pinkfresh Studio).
PAPER: Stampers Select White, Vellum (PTI); Silver glitter.
DIES: Build-A-Snowflake (PTI); Stitched Banner Flags and Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things); Nested Circles (Art Impressions).
OTHER: Jewel brad.
That's a wrap for today! Now to get some details done with transferring things to a new car I bought last week! After driving a white Honda CRV for 11 years, I decided to go with a 2025 RED CRV ExL!  We have long been Honda fans so if it ain't broke, don't fix it - haha! Word Art Wednesday Jan. 1

Happy New Year everyone! We have another Word Art Wednesday challenge happening and the scripture for inspiration is from Acts 2:28. I focused on the word "joy" in that verse and because Waffle Flower Crafts is our sponsor this time, I used their postage collage stamps/dies/stencils and added the word "joy" to the main panel. Inside the card, I have the full verse printed.

I started with color blending 5 dye inks: Lilac Grace, Lovely Lady,

Melon Berry, Limeade Ice, Blueberry Sky dye inks from Papertrey Ink. I then white embossed Wild Flower Silhouettes and added some elements from the Postage Collage stamp set.

STAMPS: Postage Collage, Wild Flower Silhouettes (Waffle Flower).
INK: See above description. Also used Versamark and Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Lovely Lady, Stamper's Select White (PTI).
DIES: Postage Collage (Waffle Flower).
OTHER: Postage Collage Blocks stencil (Waffle Flower); Alabaster embossing powder (Brutus Monroe).

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge that runs for 2 weeks. Happy stamping!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #824

Welcome to another Color Throwdown challenge! We have an update which is we will be a semi monthly challenge rather than a weekly one. We will go live at midnight every first and third Wednesday of each month. This will give you double the time to create and add your beautiful creation to our gallery. For our first challenge in the new year, we have some great neutrals: black, white and gray. I went with these leafy die cuts layered over a stenciled, striped background.
STAMPS: Just Sentiments: With Sympathy, Inside Greetings: With Sympathy (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne; Weathervane (PTI).
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, True Black, Weathervane (PTI).
DIES: Large Marianna Vine Outline, Large Marianna Vine Background, Small Marianna Vine Outline, Small Marianna Vine Background (Poppystamps); Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Watercolor Stripes stencil (Altenew).
Thanks for stopping by...hope to see you in the gallery!  ~Wanda
