WAW March 18

Hello crafty friends! It's time for another Word Art Wednesday challenge with Colossians 1:14 as our inspiration verse.

 Key Themes of Colossians 1:14:

  • Redemption: The phrase implies a "release by a legal ransom," freeing believers from their former status as slaves to sin.
  • Through His Blood: This highlights that the cost of this freedom was the sacrificial death of Jesus
    .
  • Forgiveness of Sins: The result of this redemption is the complete removal of the penalty of sin.
  • In Whom: This refers to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and indicates that salvation is found exclusively through Him.

If you remember, my WAW card for March 4 also used the color strips and the cross stitch cover plate die. I made both of these cards on a VERY frigid sub-freezing day in February and was on a roll with this color combo! I wanted the flowers to highlight the blues so that is why I chose to use The Greetery's BotaniCuts: Forget-Me-Nots. Lots of tiny pieces but very easy to assemble.

PAPER: Light coral (unknown source) and dark coral (Groovy Guava - Stampin' Up); Pool (Foiled Fox) and Sno-Cone (Cardstock Warehouse).
DIES: Nested Elongated Ovals (Pinkfresh Studio); Botanicuts: Forget-Me-Nots (The Greetery); Cover Plate: Cross Stitch (Papertrey Ink).
Remember...we have a different sponsor with each challenge and there is a free gift card issued to one lucky participant! Come join us for a chance to win!  ~Wanda

Creative Worship Stamp

Hello friends! Here is another card for my guest designer time for Creative Worship Stamps. I love this sweet stamp/die set called Flowers In Bloom and I paired it with another favorite set called Texture Tiles 1 where I used the grid stamp with Saltwater Taffy, the splatter stamp with Peeled Paint and Ground Espresso and the script stamp with Antique Linen. It's so easy to create a collage background using these textured tile stamps!

I like to emboss the stamp outline with clear powder as it makes it easier to stay in the lines when you color with Copics. I popped the florals up with foam tape and adhered it to a piece of crimped kraft paper with torn and sponged edges. I added double loops of jute twine and some sequins for embellishments.

STAMPS: Texture Tiles 1, Flowers in Bloom (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Saltwater Taffy, Ripe Persimmon, Antique Linen, Ground Espresso, Peeled Paint distress.
PAPER: Rustic White, kraft, Bristol Smooth Surface, X-Press It Blending Card.
DIES: Flowers in Bloom (Creative Worship Stamps).
COPICS: Y15, YR04, BG11, BG32, BG45, G24, G40.
OTHER: Jute twine; Crimper.

Peony Postage

The temps took a nose dive last PM and it's only a high of 30 degrees today! Going to have to dig out my gloves and heavy coat again! However, I'm thinking spring in my craft room and am playing with new "toys" from Waffle Flower. I watched a Yana Smakula tutorial on their layering peony stencils and I just had to order them. I mistakenly used green on the flower centers when I wanted them to be yellow.

I'm playing along with the Sunday Stamps and the Paper Players challenges. I used blush, green and black (close to navy?) and a wee touch of gray in the one postage cancellation stamp. For the Paper Players, I probably got an "F" for not making it CAS enough but, I did use florals.  :-)

STAMPS
: Postage Collage (Waffle Flower).
INK: Metropolis (Pinkfresh Studio); Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, True Black, Sweet Blush (PTI).
DIES: Nesting Postage Collage (Waffle Flower); Border Bling: Postage Frames (PTI).
OTHER: Peony stencil (Waffle Flower); Subsentiments Sealed die cuts by Waffle Flower.

Confession time! I was in a hurry with this post and accidentally typed in Waffle House twice...instead of Waffle Flower! Good thing I proof read it! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.   ~Wanda

Festive Friday Challenge

I'm playing along with the current Festive Friday challenge. My card includes pastel colors, a rabbit, easter egg and basket. Once again I used the In Bloom Egg die set designed by Simon Hurley for Spellbinders. The rabbit and basket are from Papertrey Ink's Easter Buddies stamp/die set. The egg was die cut from patterned paper in the Ink Drops - Candy 6x6 pad by Craft Consortium.

STAMPS: On the Bunny Trail (sentiment), Easter Buddies: Papertrey Ink.
DIES: In Bloom Egg (Spellbinders); Easter Buddies (Papertrey Ink); Stitched Banner STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).
OTHER: Pink & white thread.

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by!  Wanda

He Is Risen

It's the season of Lent with Easter fast approaching. As a guest designer for Creative Worship Stamps this month, I knew I wanted to create an Easter card using the Rustic Easter stamp set paired with the Cathedral Window die. Stamps were gold embossed and colored with Copics. I thought a fun little detail was adding jute twine to the cross. The background was color blended with distress inks (see list below).

STAMPS: Rustic Easter (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio, Broken China, Mowed Lawn, Ground Espresso distress; Versamark.
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; X-Press It Blanding Card; Stamper's Select White.
DIES: Rustic Easter, Cathedral Window, Foliage (Creative Worship Stamps).
OTHER: Jute twine.
COPICS: Y00m Y11, Y13, YR16, G00, G12, G21.

Creative Worship Guest Designer

Good morning everyone! I'm happy to share that I've been asked to be a guest designer for Creative Worship Stamps (formerly called Sweet 'n Sassy) for the month of March. My very first stamp set I purchased from them is The Sea stamp set and it's still a favorite for lake scenes!

To make the sandy section, I started with Fine Linen paper then used a sea sponge to blot on a darker sandy color. I tore off the edge and sponged around the entire "beach". For added texture, I dabbed a scant bit of glue over the area and added Caramel Latte Tan Fun Flock. The lake panel was blended using Tumbled Glass and Uncharted Mariner distress inks then splattered with water.

I added some tiny shells and tied a sailor's knot with white cording to embellish the design.

The silhouette stamp was them stamped using Versafine Clair Nocturne pigment ink - a favorite crisp black ink I like to use.

STAMPS: The Sea (Creative Worship Stamps).
INK: Tumbled Glass, Uncharted Mariner, Antique Linen, Scattered Straw distress; Versafine Clair Nocturne.
PAPER: Watercolor by Ranger; Fine Linen, True Black, Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink).
OTHER: Cording; Sea shells; Caramel Latte Tan Fun Flock (Stampendous).

Garden Bench

I seldom use this stamp set (February 2024 Surprise Box) from Papertrey Ink since it has a gazillion tiny dies to assemble. But...when I saw those spring boots in the inspiration photo for The Card Concept challenge, I knew it was the perfect choice! I used the colors as well as the florals and garden boots as inspiration. I'm also using Michele Ferguson's layout for the new Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I tweaked the placement of the sentiment for better balance on my card.

I die cut all the parts from white paper then stamped all the images. This was the time-consuming step for sure.

STAMPS
: Feb. 2024 Surprise Box (Papertrey Ink); Blooming Tulips (Creative Worship Stamps) for the sentiment.
INK: Versafine Clair Nocturne; Turquoise, Key Lime, Olive, Sunshine, Marigold, Clementine, Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Bubble Gum (Pink Fresh Studio); Fine Linen, Classic Kraft, Canyon Clay, Terracotta Tile, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink).
PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Harvest Gold (Papertrey Ink).
DIES: Love to Layer: Rectangles, Love to Layer: Arches, Feb. 2024 Surprise Box (PTI).
