Life is a Journey

I've got a quick post with a CAS card for three different challenges:
SCS Color Challenge - Night of Navy, Cajun Craze, Soft Sky  (with a dessert option to create a masculine card)
SCS CAS - "Going on a road trip" theme

I started with creating the plaid strip using MFT's Plaid Background Builder set.  I used a distressing tool then sponged edges with Cajun Craze ink.  A few enamel dots by MME completed it.  The sentiment has a trip/journey theme and I thought the plaid represented road crossings.

STAMPS: Just My Type (Flourishes), Plaid Background Builder (MFT)

Hello Dahlias

There are three different challenges that I'm playing along with:
Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge - Judy is asking us to use a doily.
CAS-ual Fridays Challenge - use aqua, green, orange colors.

I'm not sure the girls will accept this as a CAS card, but I loved the colors anyway!  Since my doily was pretty large for Karen's layout, I tweaked it a bit and created a square version instead of A2 and offset the circle.  It's been awhile since I've colored with Copics, so I inked up one of Flourishes' new images from their Dahlias set.  I fussy cut around it, but really need to order the cut file.  Papers are from MME's Stella & Rose "Mabel" 6x6 pad.  A few rhinestones and a couple of die cut flags (Die-Namics by MFT) finished off this card.

FTTC meets Sweet Sunday Sketch

After having to work the past three days (yes, it was hard to hear everyone talk about their FUN holiday w/e while I was slaving away - lol), I had to get inky and play with a couple of challenges this morning.  The layout is for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and I'm also playing along with Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge to create a card that signifies summertime and include sheer ribbon.  For me, I love the fresh fruits and veggies that are available locally in the summer!  I thought this lemonade image from Flourishes' On the Porch stamp set would work perfectly for the theme.  Papers are from My Minds Eye "Breeze" 6x6 pad...love the gray and yellow color combo!

Have to get going and run some errands...have a blessed Tuesday everyone!

Triple Challenge Card

I'm waiting on the delivery truck to bring my new washer (that's another story...did NOT need to add that expense to my budget right now!), so decided to make a quick card for the following challenges:

Colour Q - Ruby Red, Calypso Coral, Certainly Celery, Black

What did I use?
STAMPS: Old Fashioned Florals (Flourishes)
PAPER: For the Record DP by Echo Park, X-Press It Blending Card, White by PTI
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
ACCESSORIES: Classic Frames template die by Flourishes, Butterfly punch by Martha Stewart, Tiny Tags punch by SU, Red jute twine, Sentiment Flag die by Lil' Inker Designs, Copics.

Hope Happens

I thought I'd make this a quick card, but it was one of those days when numerous steps just didn't work out and I had to go to plan B!  Had it all completed then said "ick"...I should have used a melon mambo or eggplant ribbon instead...but there was no undoing the foam tape at that point.

I created this for three different challenges:
Color Challenge on SCS - Melon Mambo, Elegant Eggplant, River Rock
Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge - Frame it
Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge - sketch

This is my first time playing along with this sketch challenge, but saw it on a friend's blog and loved it!  I brayered Elegant Eggplant and Melon Mambo ink on the embossing folder, then ran it through my Big Shot.  I die cut a square Nestie inside a Wonky Rectangle Nestie for the frame.  I cut the tulip outline using a cut file on my Silhouette then stamped Flourishes' tulip image from their Tulips for Friends set and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from the Magnolias set - also by Flourishes.  The card base is Elegant Eggplant thought it tends to look black in the photo.

Have to run and get ready for work.  It's infection control committee meeting day and as the employee health nurse, I have to attend.  Thanks for stopping by...

Here's what I used...

Timeless Tuesday Meets Color Challenge

This is a "two for one special" for the Color Challenge on SCS (More Mustard, Midnight Muse, Old Olive with dessert option to watercolor) and for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge where it's all about shine and glitter.  I dry embossed the Manhatten Flower EF by SU on 90 lb. watercolor paper then scribbled a yellow watercolor crayon in the widest open sections of the roses.  I then took my Aquapainter and pulled color off my More Mustard ink pad and shaded in the petals.  Continuing with my Aquapainter, I painted some Old Olive ink around the roses' outline then spritzed some dark blue color using a Tombow #528 marker and SU's spritzer tool (or "spitter" as I affectionately call it - lol).  I then sprayed the entire surface with Tattered Angels "Dazzling Diamonds" Glimmer Mist to add the glitter element.  It doesn't show up really well, but it's there!  I just love the "teeny weeny" sentiments in Flourishes' new Old Fashioned Florals set - just perfect for the tiny tag punch by SU!  I'm a novice with watercoloring and always love the look, so this was another chance for me to practice this coloring technique.

PAPER: Midnight Muse, Old Olive Canon 90 lb. watercolor paper
INK: Old Olive, More Mustard, Midnight Muse
ACCESSORIES: Midnight Muse ribbon by SU, Bling sticker by Recollections, Manhatten Flower EF by SU, Aquapainter, Spritzer tool (SU), Tiny tag punch (SU).

Seeing Red

Denise has challenged us to use red on our card/project for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge.  It was a toss-up between roses or poppies and the poppies won! :-)

I did some masking while stamping in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card, then colored with Copics.  I like to add a hint of yellow whenever I color red flowers as it just seems to make it more vibrant and realistic-looking.

STAMPS: Poppy Patch and With Gratitude (sentiment) - both by Flourishes
PAPER: Yours Truly 6x6 pad by Echo Park, Kraft (PTI), White
ACCESSORIES: Victoria EF, Circle and Scallop Circle Nesties, Heart border die by PTI, Square lattice EF by SU, Adhesive pearls
COPICS: R22, R24, R27, Y19, YG61, YG63, YG67.

Trio of Valentines

Several co-workers asked me to create some masculine Valentines, so I came up with 3 different cards this morning.  This first card uses the layout for the Retrosketches Challenge #48 and I think I can squeak it by for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge to create a vintage card or project.  The type print of the sentiment (Flourishes' "Just My Type" set) speaks "vintage" to me...along with the white ink sponging on the heart and over the black layer for the chalkboard technique.  The embellishments also have a bit of a retro feel.  I hand doodled some cross stitching along the top of the flags.  Papers are from Echo Park's "Yours Truly" pad.

These next two cards were totally inspired by a gorgeous card by Mary Fish - LOVE her clean lines in her creations!  (my apologies that the link wouldn't work from Pinterest).

The XOXO border is a Die-Namics die by MFT.  Sentiments are from Verve's "Stronger Love" set.

Heading out to work shortly, so need to run...always appreciate your visits and comments!

Timeless Tuesday & Sketch Challenge

I always love an excuse to play with my Flourishes stamps and this week, Broni has a great color challenge for us!  For more challenge details, you can visit the Flourishes blog HERE.  I thought these papers in the Madeline collection by Prima Marketing were perfect to capture the 3 color families.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics and fussy cut the image.  This card uses Korin's layout for the Sketch Challenge on SCS.  I wanted to soften the look of all the panels by rounding them with the 1/4" setting on my corner chomper.  Some chocolate pearls were used as accents.

STAMPS: With Gratitude (Flourishes)
ACCESSORIES: Sentiment Flags die (Lil Inker Designs)

Timeless Tuesday

I had this Flourishes cut file already cut and stamped...just waiting for the right challenge. Today's Timeless Tuesday Challenge on the Flourishes blog is hosted by Denise who has challenged us to use something new.  A visit to Michael's yesterday meant coming home with some new bling and this butterfly is part of my "new" stash.  The sentiment is also seeing ink for the first time.  I'm also entering this into Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge with a few little tweaks.

STAMPS: Garden Picks (Flourishes), Magnolias (Flourishes)
PAPER: Frond DP by Memory Box, White, X-Press It Blending Card
INK: Versafine Onyx Black
ACCESSORIES: Picot Edge Circle Nestie, Embroidery trim, Butterfly embellishment by Recollections.

Timeless Tuesday Ornament

For the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge, Maki is challenging us to create a 3D item or ornament that can be hung on a Christmas tree.  Since I can't seem to get enough of this snowflake die with the glitter CS from SU...I went with it...again!  The picot circle layer is Pacific Point CS then layered with a circle of DP from the Patterns Stack Designer Collection of DP - also from SU.  The sentiment is from Flourishes' Petals and Peace set.  The hanger consists of silver cording glued to the inside of a folded tab made with a SU punch. This is the 200th challenge for Timeless Tuesday!

While I had my camera in hand, I decided to take some more photos of some Christmas decorations around the house...
FAMILY ROOM
 TREE CLOSEUP
DINING ROOM DISPLAY
CRECHE
BIRDHOUSE AND SNOWMAN

So, that's a wee glimpse into our humble abode! :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

Sticking together!

I created this card for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge on the Flourishes blog where Allison has challenged us to create a Christmas card using non-traditional colors - aka no red or green!  Now, I just had to make the little cardinal red, but don't think that will disqualify me! :-)  This is also for Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge...a great layout!  I can't seem to capture the sparkle of glitter with taking photos in artificial light, but it really does glisten IRL!  I added some Polar White Flower Soft to the mitten cuffs and the large "circle" element was substituted with the largest of SU's Bigz Snow Flurry dies.  I stamped the image on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics.

STAMPS: Warm Winter Wishes (Flourishes)
PAPER: Mitten Weather DP by Cosmo Cricket, Kraft, Aqua Mist
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black, Chocolate Chip
ACCESSORIES: Corner Rounder, Aqua Mist satin ribbon by PTI, Flower Soft, Dazzling Diamonds glitter by SU, Bigz Snow Flurry die by SU, Copics.

Grab Life by the Handlebars!

Love this sentiment and thought it was a great message of hope during this month that highlights breast cancer awareness!  My card is for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge to use treats as our focal point (hopefully the basket full of goodies will be OK) and also for the Copic Oz blog's monthly challenge to "Think Pink".  For every card that is entered, they will donate $5 to the McGrath Foundation!  Stampers...this is our chance to help out a worthy cause while we are playing with paper at the same time!

Here's what I used:
STAMPS: Bike Ride (Flourishes)
PAPER: The Sweetest Thing "Lavender" pad by MME, White, X-Press It Blending Card
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
ACCESSORIES: Blushing Bride pleated ribbon by SU, Persian Motifs die by SB, Adhesive pearls

Lenten Rose

Dismal, rainy day...good day to get inky and play along with the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge!  Denise is hosting and is asking us to think pink.  I knew immediately I'd grab my favorite Flourishes set: Lenten Rose.  I used Lori Boyd's great sketch for the Deconstructed Sketch Challenge #71.  My card fits an invitation style envelope (4 1/2 x 6").

Fall Bouquet

I absolutely love the colors of fall, so when I saw the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge was to create a card with a fall theme, I knew I had to play! The brown panel is embossed using a woodgrain EF and jute twine added for that rustic fall feel.  I used the cut file from Flourishes to electronically cut the outline on X-Press It Blending Card using my Silhouette Cameo. This card also uses Taylor's sketch for the Sketch Challenge on SCS.

STAMPS: Garden Picks by Flourishes; Plain Jane by Verve
PAPER: Curio DP by BasicGrey, Vintage Cream
INK: Chocolate Chip
ACCESSORIES: Woodgrain EF, Jute twine, Chocolate pearls, Copics.
