You Are Amazing

Inspired by the photo for Altenew's May Inspiration Challenge and using the sketch for the current Fusion Card Challenge.

I started by stamping the Wood Pallet Background stamp (Altenew) with Falling for Blue dye ink (WPlus9).  I then used a small blending tool to sponge some Lake House dye ink (WPlus9) very lightly.

Then came the fun part to layer up Altenew's Peony Dream 3D die set.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Hibiscus Bouquet stamp set with matching die.

Altenew January 2018 Inspiration Challenge

I'm squeaking in here under the wire for the deadline with Altenew's January 2018 Inspiration Challenge. I just loved the vibrant, happy colors in their inspiration photo and couldn't pass up the opportunity to add to my birthday card stash!  It's been awhile since I used their Layered Floral Cover dies and they pack such a WOW factor in these colors!

I used Tangerine and Bumblebee cardstock by Reverse Confetti and Raspberry Fizz by PTI.  The sentiment - from Altenew's Painted Greetings - is white embossed on heavy weight vellum.  I adhered all the layers by spraying lightly with Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive.  This is a quick and easy card to put together if you need one in a hurry.

Color Throwdown #458

Hello everyone! It's Wednesday so that means a new Color Throwdown Challenge is happening!   Lynn Put is our hostess this week and has chosen this great set of primary colors with a fun photo that inspired me to go with a school theme.

I wanted to say a big THANKS to Sheri Gilson for guesting with us this month!  Her cards were all fabulous and it's hard to think this is the last week in the month already.  Be sure to stop by her blog and check out her latest card!

Congratulations to Michele Greenwood of Whimsical Creations who is our guest star stamper this week!

So...here is my take using the red, yellow and green color palette...

The layout is the current sketch by Donna Mikasa for the CAS(E)
This Sketch Challenge.

I'll get right to my enabler's list...
STAMPS: Class Act by Reverse Confetti.
PAPER: Lime Green (Reverse Confetti), Licorice (MFT), White (PTI), Patterned paper by Recollections.
INK: Rose, Lime Green, Sand (Reverse Confetti); Versamark; Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Class Act and Love Note (Reverse Confetti), Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX (MFT).
MISC: Washi tape and Tim Holtz stapler.

I thought my card would be a great addition to present a teacher gift.  A simple and fun idea is creating a Rolo pencil!  I made these several years ago and didn't have time to create a new one, so will add my old photo along with a link to the YouTube video instructions HERE

We'd love to have you joining us in the challenge this week! For more details on how to play along, head over to the Color Throwdown Blog and you'll find the information on the right sidebar!  You can also visit the rest of the design team's creations for more inspiration by clicking on the links below:

Altenew Inspiration Challenge

Check out the new Altenew Inspiration Challenge photo! It's a gorgeous floral bouquet and the colors were perfect for me to use the Layered Floral Cover Dies A and B to add a wedding card to my stash!  I took liberties to add a layer of metallic gold cardstock to add to the elegance of a wedding creation.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Painted Greetings stamp set and was gold embossed on heavy weight vellum.  I added some cross stitch stickers on the vellum edges.  A really quick and easy card!

PAPER: Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Vellum and Brushed Gold by SU.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

Painted Flowers

Here is my clean and simple design for the new CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge with inspiration from Altenew's May Inspiration Challenge photo! I used just a hint of lavender by adding a pale watercolor wash using Zig's #803 English Lavender Clean Color brush pen.  I then stamped some splatters using Milled Lavender distress ink.  The flowers - from Altenew's Painted Flowers set - were stamped off once then step 2
was done with the same Picked Raspberry distress ink.  I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn distress inks for the leaves.  I looped some black thread held in place with a medium glue dot and added the white embossed sentiment from Altenew's Painted Greetings set.  The white base panel was die cut using Reverse Confetti's Lacy Scallop Frame Confetti Cut die.  This was adhered over Raspberry Fizz cardstock by PTI.

I'm also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge with the theme "A Hint of Pink".

Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a wonderful Thursday!

Inspired By All The Little Things

Good Saturday everyone! I'm ready for a weekend off with no big plans other than catching up on some housework, watching some basketball playoff games and getting some stamping time in as well! There is a great new inspiration photo up for the latest Inspired By All The Little Things challenge.  This intense background of colors with purple as the primary color with a little hint of yellow and green led me to get out my sponges and a variety of distress inks to create a scene.

I struggled with choosing a sentiment and finally went with an older Flourishes stamp set called 'You' which reflected what the sun rising after a dark night might symbolize.  The mountains stamp (Stampendous) is from my early stamping days and hasn't seen ink in years!  I masked the sun prior to sponging then added the silhouette tree die (Arboscello Tree by Memory Box) in the foreground.  I used the following distress inks: Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Bundled Sage.  The white frame is a new (to me) die by Reverse Confetti called Lacy Scallop Frame.  I love the dual stitching detail paired with the tiny open scallop edge and wondered why I waited so long to order this die set - lol!

Our guest designer this week is Leanne Elliott of Banking on Crafts.  Welcome, Leanne!

I can't wait to see how YOU will interpret this challenge!  Hope to see you in the gallery!

Bamboo Roses

It's Friday eve (night before Friday) and that much closer to my 4 day weekend off that will start on Saturday! I couldn't wait to play with a new (to me) cover plate die by MFT....LOVE it!  I got my inspiration from Altenew's February Inspiration Challenge photo and knew their Bamboo Rose stamp set with matching dies would work perfectly.  I first gold embossed the images, then watercolored using Mijello Mission Gold paints.  This was so incredibly quick and easy to complete!

STAMPS: Bamboo Rose (Altenew)
PAPER: Vintage Cream and True Black (PTI); Ranger watercolor CS.
INK: Versamark, Versafine Onyx Black.
DIES: Bamboo Rose (Altenew); Striped Sentiment Strip cover plate (MFT).

Thanks for stopping by...heading to the shower then to work.

Bamboo Roses

I couldn't resist jumping right in to play along with the new Freshly Made Sketches Challenge and paired it with Altenew's January Inspiration Challenge!  I just loved this inspiration photo and the golden yellow tones which led me immediately to my Bamboo Rose stamp set which, sad to say, I've had for weeks and never used until now.

I gold embossed the images on some Master's Touch watercolor
paper (found at Hobby Lobby and a cheaper alternative), then colored in with my fave Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. The brown edging was die cut using Reverse Confetti's Edge Essentials die.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Super Script stamp set and was stamped with Soft Suede ink by SU.

Thanks for stopping by...

A Year in Review Inspiration Challenge

I combined two challenges for this softer, non-traditional take on images from Altenew's Poinsettia and Pine stamp set - a favorite of mine for this season!
I flipped the layout for the current Match the Sketch Challenge #154 and was inspired by the colors and soft florals in shades of yellow and
green in the A Year in Review Inspiration Challenge on the Altenew blog.  I chose the inspiration photo for June 2016.

I die cut three different sizes of stitched squares using Ranger watercolor CS and dies by Lil' Inker Designs.  I added a light watercolor wash with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink then splattered some Twisted Citron distress ink.  I white embossed the florals on a heavy weight vellum then die cut each one after coloring on the back side with Copic markers.  I also die cut each image from white cardstock then used spray adhesive to layer the vellum over the white CS. I guess I could have skipped the vellum, but I do like the more subtle coloring and the different texture it gives to the card.  This sentiment is one of many from Altenew's Holiday Wishes - a must have for many unique holiday messages!

Vintage Flowers

Good Friday everyone! After tackling an upstairs guest room closet that was packed with OLD things from forever years ago, I decided to cool down in my stamp room! Having my daughter visiting was an even greater bonus because she emptied out a lot from her old room and we made a major haul to a local Goodwill store.  It feels so good to purge clutter and free up more storage space!

I created this card for Altenew's September Inspiration Challenge and also used the new CAS(E)
This Sketch Challenge layout. May has this fabulous photo from some of her craft room supplies to inspire us, so I went with the colors and the stripes for my biggest inspiration.  I triple stamped the florals from Altenew's Vintage Flowers set.  I used two sentiment stamps - one from Label Love and the other from Super Script - both by Altenew.  I used the Tim Holtz' Dot Fade stencil with Tumbled Glass distress ink. The stripe is a background stamp by MFT using SU's retired Cool Caribbean ink and matching cardstock border.  I like using this sentiment to keep on hand as it works for both birthdays and/or anniversaries.

That's all for today...Time to hit the shower and think about where we'll eat out for supper.  This chick is too tired to cook a meal!
