MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge

I couldn't pass up the great sketch for this week's MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge. It was raining off and on most of the day yesterday, so I spent more than my usual time in my stamp room.  I pulled this panel of alcohol ink blending that I've had in my leftover pile.  Decided to pull out some older MFT dies (daisy and layered leaves) then added a "skinny" sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's You Got This set that has tons of encouragement sentiments.

Because the background was completed at an earlier time, this card came together very quickly!

PAPER: Sour Apple, Ripe Raspberry, Black Licorice (MFT); White, New Leaf (PTI); Yupo alcohol ink cardstock.

Stock Your Stash

Happy Fri-yay everyone! Another cloudy day here in VA with ongoing rain in the forecast. Not complaining as that's perfect for retreating to my craft room! Since it's a new month, that means there's a new theme for the Stock Your Stash challenge at Reverse Confetti.  This month is all about weddings.  My starting point was their Iced Aqua cardstock and ink which is my favorite in their color palette!

I created the patterned background by stamping the floral image from the Something Wonderful set.  Using my MISTI, I stamped twice each time.  The sentiment is a combination of Congratulations and best wishes from the Congratulations set and  Mr. and Mrs. from the Bitty Banners set.  The fun outcome was that it even rhymes together! I used the Scalloped Squares die as a frame then embellished with the Double Heart Garland die.  The card base is 5" square.

That's it for now...have a good weekend!

Fusion Card Challenge

The weeks of summer keep rolling by so quickly and it's time once again for a new Fusion Card Challenge. We have a rustic floral photo to inspire you as well as a new sketch.  It's up to you...use one or the other or use both.  I used both!  I was inspired by the soft florals, colors and the barnwood container in the photo which led to me using some older patterned papers from my pretty significant 6x6 stash - My Mind's Eye "Bramble Rose" pad.

I used Stampin' Up's Woodgrain embossing folder to add some rustic texture.  I didn't want a stark black for the the flower pot, so used Reverse Confetti's "Lead" ink pad.  The card base is Stone cardstock by Reverse Confetti.

STAMPS: Fresh Cut Containers (WPlus9), Let Us Rejoice (Simon Says Stamp).

Color Throwdown #504

Can you believe we're into August already? There's a new Color Throwdown Challenge happening with  a combo of more somber colors - black, white and copper - brought to us by Amy Rohl!  I'll have to admit I really liked this striking combo which was very much out of the norm for me.  Fortunately, I didn't need a sympathy card, but thought this would work to build up my stash.

I copper embossed the butterfly from a Tim Holtz stamp/die set by Sizzix.  I popped it up on foam tape (along with the sentiment which is from PTI's Blooming Button Bits set). A touch of metallic copper cardstock was added for detailing and this was a quick and easy card to throw together!  Patterned papers are from Bazzill Basics Paper "Licorice" 6x6 pad.

We're really excited to have the talented Joy Taylor from Simple By Design as our August guest designer!  You will not want to miss her awesome samples!

Birthday Daisies

I wanted to play with a new (to me) Cupcake Inspiration Challenge and combined it with the Sunday Stamps Challenge which has a fun sketch on board!  I was purging some of my many ziplock baggies of leftover die cuts this morning, and was inspired to use these daisies from that stash after seeing the fun cupcake photo.

Part of the cleanup/purge process included finding a stack of panels from a Gelli roll painting session from 2-3 years ago!  I die cut two of them using MFT's Stitched Rectangle STAX die-namics and then cut a third one from white CS.  Since the green panel had a hint of gold in it, I used these leftover gold leaves and added some Sprightly Sprigs dies (Verve) in New Leaf CS (PTI).  The sentiment is from Verve's Poppy Birthday stamp set.
I pretty much depleted my stash of birthday cards, so this will help to build it up again.  Thanks so much for stopping by...

Make It Monday

It's a dreary Monday and the laundry pile is being worked on while I am intermittently working on a card for the new Make It Monday Challenge on the Papertrey Ink blog. Stephanie Gold is challenging us to create a mixed background texture and has a great tutorial HERE

I stamped a floral background using images from PTI's Butterfly Folk stamp set.  The sparkle doesn't show in the photo but I sprayed Smooch Spritz over the butterfly.  I die cut two tags from PTI's Keep It Simple Frames die set to make the green border.  I love the texture that PTI's Quatrefoil cover plate die creates with white on white!  The sentiment is from the Mat Stack 1 Collection by PTI.  I'm also entering this into the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

INK: Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst, Green Parakeet (PTI); Stone (Reverse Confetti); Versafine Onyx Black.

The irony of this card is that I had a beautiful black butterfly sitting on my porch when I went to retrieve a package delivered by UPS!  How cool is that?!

Freshly Made Sketches

Playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge - just squeaking in under the deadline! I often go through my leftover pile as I start a new card...with good intentions to use up existing elements.  In this case, the stitched circle and the square scallop frame were used.  I added a card base in the same stone cardstock and embossed/die cut with this fabulous Stitched Rays cover plate die by Reverse Confetti.  I love the subtle texture it adds!

Since I just finished another future card project using WPlus9's Fresh Cut Containers and Simon Says Stamps Let Us Rejoice stamp sets, I went with these same two choices.

STAMPS: Fresh Cut Containers (WPlus9), Let Us Rejoice (Simon Says Stamp).
PAPER: Stone (Reverse Confetti), White (PTI), Metallic Copper CS.
INK: Versafine Onyx Black; Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Lucky Limeade (SU); remaining colors unknown due to being stamped "long time ago".
DIES: Stitched Rays cover plate,

Thanks so much for stopping by...
