To A Classic

Yes...DH has a birthday on the 19th and this classic car image is just perfect for him! He has always loved restoring old cars...currently has a running 1934 Chevy, 1955 Chevy, and is working on a 1936 Ford convertible and 1965 Mustang (actually our daughter is helping with this one as it's her "baby").  He owns and operates Classic Auto Body and Paint, so you can see why this SU set jumped onto my order form immediately - lol!
I'm playing along with a new (to me) SUO challenge called Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge.  Isn't this a great layout?!  The navy designer paper is from an old SU paper stack.  I recently ordered this silver foil paper and love using it with this CB embossing folder for masculine creations.

STAMPS: Guy Greetings (SU)
PAPER: ? name for SU DP; Silver foil (SU), White
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black
ACCESSORIES: Stitched grosgrain "Mistletoe" ribbon by SU, Small flag punch (SU), Stitched square die by Lil' Inker Designs, CB embossing folder.

So Blessed

I'm squeaking in a card hours before the deadline for this really great layout for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  After getting happy mail yesterday from WPlus9's new release, I knew the Doodle Bud stamp set would be perfect to create a one layer card with a doodled frame (the little squiggles are stamps and the lines were drawn using a Tombow marker #899).

The coordinating Doodle Bud dies (wow...I see they are already sold out!) make it so easy to arrange these fun flowers!  I used the yummy colors for the new Colour Q challenge Stay tuned for more cards using WPlus9.  A real shame that working full time interferes with my stamping obsession...errr...hobby - lol!

Color Throwdown

Yes, it's hump day and that means there's a new Color Throwdown challenge on board. I would LOVE having that view outside my dining room window...but I can only dream!  Here's my take on the colors: hot pink, lime green, gray and kraft.

I had quite an "adventure" making this card!  I started with watercolor paper and added 3 distress inks (Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint and Pumice Stone) for a color wash background. Epic fail. The gray just looked too muddy.  I decided to salvage it by placing this Fishnet stencil by MFT over it and sponging more green in sporadic areas - leaving the pink areas more open.  The floral branch of flowers is from Altenew's Vintage Flowers set and they are so much fun to play with.  I only used a hint of gray in the sentiment and with the Silver Liquid Pearl flower centers.  What I thought might be a total disaster was actually saved from the trashcan and an OK card after all. :-)

Color Challenge

Peggy has a beautiful color combo for the new Color Challenge on SCS - Blackberry Bliss, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder - with the dessert option to add stars.  This is my second week as their guest designer and I went with stamps from 3 different SU sets: Tape It, Perfect Pennants, and Gorgeous Grunge.  I like using these images whenever I want to create a collage style design because they mix and match so well. The banner sentiment and the larger Pool Party star were both fussy cut.  The smallest star was stamped then punched with SU's smallest star punch. A scattering of SU rhinestones were the finishing touch.  Easy peasy card!

Mojo Monday

And...we're off and running to the next 400 sketches by bringing you Mojo Monday sketch challenge #401.  If you've gotten a chance to see the new SU catalog, you may have seen their new Bohemian designer paper...LOVE the combination of Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry and Delightful Dijon!

I wanted to recreate that Bohemian feel by using a variety of circle medallion images from Verve's Peaceful Medallions set.  I don't have the new SU inks yet, so I subbed Crushed Curry.  The grid patterned paper is from SU's Moonlight stack of papers.  I fussy cut the flowers (Be Blessed - Verve) and stamped the sentiment (Moments Remembered - Verve) in Blackberry Bliss.  I used Verve's Sprightly Sprigs dies to cut leaves from Bermuda Bay CS.  I looped some gold cording and tucked the loops underneath using glue dots.  The grosgrain ribbon and button are also from SU.

Check out the rest of the mojomakers' creations by clicking on their blog links below...or... you can go to the Mojo Monday blog and the first 7 thumbnails will be the design team's cards.

On a side note, I'm the oldest in my family with two younger brothers and today is my next youngest brother's birthday where he's celebrating the big 6-0!  I don't get to see him very often (he lives in northeastern Ohio near our home town) but wanted to give him a shout out!  He's quite the talented guy with singing, playing guitar, being worship leader at their church; he also has some great woodworking and artistic skills and is the comedian in our family!  Happy birthday, Lowell!

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

It's that time again for all you coffee lovers...it's the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and there are a lot of wonderful sponsors giving away some fabulous prizes! All you have to do is create a coffee-themed card and link it to the blog HERE

I decided to combine this with a couple of other favorite challenges:
Colour Q Challenge (see photo on left) and the Fusion Card Challenge ( sketch only).  I paper pieced the coffee cup and stenciled some coffee splotches (by TCW) on orange CS from my scrap pile. The designer papers are from Follow Your Heart "Be Amazing" 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye.  I love this "Warm My https://www.northcoastcreations.com/index.php/stamps/ncc80-warm-my-heart.htmlHeart" stamp set by North Coast Creations...so perfect for coffee lovers!  The clothespin is by SU and the tiny coffee tag is by Reverse Confetti.  I also used the Stitched Corner Rectangle STAX and the Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.

Color Throwdown

Welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge! Yours truly is the hostess this week and I went with a bold set of colors inspired by this graphic flower pot of geraniums I found on Pinterest!

I've had this Fresh Picked stamp set by WPlus9 with coordinating dies for MANY months and never used it!  How sad is that?!  I knew these colors would be perfect to make a sweet little tag to pop up against the black and white DP.  I can't seem to stop using the MFT Stitched Basic Edges Die-Namics, so here it is yet again.

We're happy to announce that the talented Nancy Thomas of Creative Palette is our guest designer for the month of June!  Welcome Nancy! Looking forward to seeing your creations!
