Mojo Monday

While purging some of my paper stash recently, I came across this forgotten Lost and Found "Union Square" pad by MME.  I wanted to add a pop of red to the aged looking black and cream papers.  The doily - a die by MFT - was a perfect backdrop to a fave layered Verve flower that was fussy cut and popped with a foam dot.  A few loops of gold cording, a splattering of gold sequins and a button from SU's neutral collection finished it off.

Last but not least...I have some REALLY exciting news to share!!!  

DH and I found out Saturday evening we will be joining the ranks of grandparenting for the first time!  Our middle son and his wife are happily anticipating a baby in September!  No news yet of the baby's sex.  I'm still adjusting to the news but am so excited!  While eating out for dinner, they nonchalantly whipped out the sonogram picture as they were telling us about a new condo they'll be moving to soon.  Talk about a bombshell, but what a fun bombshell - lol!

Corner Collage

 SS and church...beef stew, homemade rolls and baked apples for lunch...then some lazy stamping time in the afternoon! The sun is out and it's not so miserably cold...love this day!  Today's Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS is honoring Mynnette (aka stamping_Mynn).  I cased her card HERE.  I'm also playing along with Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge...LOVE her sketches!   

I used splatters and sequins to echo Mynn's circle elements.  For the sparkle element, I went with some Wendy Vecchi metallic gold embossing paste which adds so much fun dimension and sheen!  I first stamped the script background by only inking up a portion of the BG stamp with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I then stamped the floral image in Peacock Feathers ink, then added the embossing paste with a fern stencil by TCW.  Some grunge splatters in Lucky Limeade, a hello die (Simon Says Stamp) in Early Espresso, a fussy cut stamped washi tape image from SU's Tape It set, and some Lucky Blend sequins by Avery Elle complete this fun to create freestyle collage card!

Freshly Made Sketches

Angled panels are so trendy right now and I totally love the interest they add to a card! So...I couldn't

pass up the current layout for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I'm also playing along with the Free 4 All challenge on SCS to use blue and yellow and one other color of our choice - black in my case. 

The flowers are die cut and layered with large foam dots.  The sentiment was clear embossed.  This was a quick and easy card to assemble!

Reverse Confetti SFYTT

Jen has another fun Sketch For You To Try challenge over on the Reverse Confetti blog! I'm anxiously awaiting her new release coming up on the 8th!  Until then, I pulled out the Inner Rock Star set and paired it up with these great SU patterned papers from the Fresh Prints Designer Series paper pack.  I love these 4 1/2 x 6 1/2" pads and hope they'll produce more packs in this size!  The records were stamped in the coordinating colors: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar and Real Red.  I used a 1" punch to punch them out.  The guitar was fussy cut.  Some wooden veneer embellishments and red jute twine along with Wink of Stella clear shimmer brush highlighting finished off this quick project.  Thanks for stopping by!  I'm eagerly looking forward to 4 days off work! 

Color Throwdown

We have a really happy color combo for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge and a super sun room photo for inspiration by our hostess, Vickie! I am chomping at the bit to be able to enjoy my own sun room again!  Spring just doesn't want to make an appearance this year!  We got walloped again with more snow on Monday, so my card was a big effort to think spring!

I had these two MFT stamp sets (and Die-Namics) for many weeks and never inked them up until now!  How sad is that?!  So, big thanks to Vickie for choosing colors that fit perfectly!  I tweaked the sketch for MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge from 2/26 and went with a one layer card - popping up the leaves and sunflower with foam dots.  I added Cinnamon Stickles to the center and the jury is still out if that was a good move.

Fusion Sketch & Color Challenge

It's a br-r-r-r kind of day with temps in the single digits this morning!  While still in my jammies, I headed to my stamp room and created this card using Karen Barber's awesome colors for the Color Challenge over on SCS - Raspberry Ripple, Old Olive, Island Indigo with the dessert option of using pearls!  I combined it with the sketch from the current Fusion Card Challenge.  I'm still struggling with lining up the stamps for the 3 step stamping that happens with PTI's Delightful Dahlia and the Delightful Dahlia Additions stamp sets.  I think I mastered the large dahlia, but the smaller one still needs practice.

Perfectly Peachy Retro Sketch

 I'm playing along with two fun challenges - the Retrosketches Challenge #104 and the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge with a "Perfectly Peach" theme (see inspiration photo). The layout is based on a previous card by Arielle Gordon.   After I finished, I'm thinking it's more orange than the pinkish peach in the photo, but hopefully Stacey won't drop the curtain on me - lol!

I had this leftover dahlia from a previous project and thought it paired up nicely with these "Mabel" papers from MME's  Stella and Rose Collection.
